Okay I'm going to come at this topic from a different angle. As we all know the situation with this mum to be, I would like to point something out. This topic may be in the wrong forum, it should be in the general discussion, as this is a forum for Mums grieving the loss of a child, and in my case very recently, some of the Mum's here may not be at the stage where they feel they can part with their treasured baby items that they had for their lost ones. So maybe it could fbe shifted to the general forum? I think that this is a great idea. I am quite saddened by some of the negativity being said about the situation. Here Angela is reaching out to the mothers who no longer need their baby stuff. She is trying to help a struggling mother, and future struggling mothers. To know that their is someone out there, complete strangers,that are willing to help out must mean so much to these women.
It is not our place to know of this woman's situation. We need to have faith in Angela's cause, we as Ohbaby members are an extension of her work and should show our support.
This woman could have been relocated from another place, she could have sheltered in Womans refuge and so couldn't take many items with her, she could be in hiding from an abusive partner. What ever the circumstance we should not judge, it is not our place to. We should not be brown nosing in the business of others. If these woman feel strong enough, they will share their story in their own time.
I will have a sort through my things and send some stuff up for this woman. Who we must commend for reaching out for help. That is itself is something I believe is worthy of our consideration.

I have got a few things, some are of the bigger variety. I've got boxes of little girl clothes etc which I don't need now. BUT I'm not sending that stuff, would cost a fortune. If I was in the position to help, I would in a heartbeat. Obviously the people who know this person's situation feel she deserves some help, and that's good enough for me.

Just like donating to the sallies etc, you are donating for the cause of helping others regardless of their situation (homeless, drunks, bad home situations) and if you donate there then you're probably not judging them.

GandT, Angela said if anyone has these items to give away and they want to give them to this cause, then feel free. It's not obligatory on anyone's part if they don't want to give.

I think its a worthy cause just because there is someone (Angela) who knows the full story and is prepared to help. Good enough for me. i think its great if you want to help people angela and i really like the idea of your "Bundle of Love".

However you are at an advantage where you obviously know something about this person and how they came to contact us (meaning oh baby). We dont have the benefit of the knowledge you have in regards to this and your initial post was very non specific and in my opinion slightly confusing and presumptious to think we would have cots, moses baskets etc to give and frankly rang warning bells in my head.

i too am not averse to helping others and am always giving away the boys old stuff and filling up the hospice shop with the clothes that refuse to fit me anymore...

so i dont think it was too much to ask for a first name and location for instance or a bit abut how this lady came to know about oh baby.

I do apologise if my initial reply took this off on a tangent but i stand by my post.

Please dont mis-understand my post (am wishing had kept mouth shut now)...I just think that its a personal choice - and some people feel that they need to know more information before offering assistance. Sometimes there are lots of people asking for help, and you have to be selective - we cant always help everyone.

Just my opinion but even if the mother does have a gambling problem or similar, Oh baby is asking for baby clothes, regardless of how the mother found herself in this situation I'm looking at helping the baby.

Abby's two now, and we have sold or given most of it away, (unfortunately I put a huge amount of her clothes in a clothing bin as I had no one to give them to) but I'm sure I have some stuff still around so I will hunt it out and will happily donate it.

I know how hard it can be, there are so many reasons and situations people can find themselves in I would love to help if I can.

I can understand the privacy issue as it would then become a judging issue if we were to know all the details about these women. I think it's a really nice idea.

Hi Angie

I think some of the ladies have valid points - it is always good to know a little bit of background in these situations. For example (and I AM NOT in anyway saying that this is the case)...some people may have an issue or a concern donating to someone who has a gambling problem or something like that.....

I dont think we should be 'hard' on those that would require some more info before choosing to donate to this lady.

Every year we have a big clean out and boxes go off to Salvation Army and clothes go off to Womens Refuge, and would love to help - but do not have anything appropriate for this lady.

I think its great that Oh Baby are able to co-ordinate some help, and I also hope that she is getting the help and appropriate financial assistance from all the relevant support agencies out there.

Just my views - and in no way a judgement on this lady or anyone on OhBaby.

no you're not the only one who wants to know more info, Gant.. like where all the baby things from her previous baby are? Don't get me wrong, I help as many people as I can.. I donate to women's refuge, salvation army, etc etc..

Where abouts is she? I think we need to know this as I'm assuming we'd be paying postage? I think this is a fantastic idea and agree that it shouldn't matter why these women find themselves in these situations, the fact is they have asked for help and that is a huge thing for some people

We have a couple of bags full of clothes and toys (mostly baby boy clothes ) that we were given and I would love to pass them on

Yeah i would love to help too but i myself am a first time single mum lol. Lucky enough to have family and friends that will help me at any time i need them though!

I don't think it is any of our business the personal circumstances of these women. I don't think if I was in this position I'd like my personal life shared out to everyone especially OHbaby's 8500+members!

These mums have been given information outside of OHbaby! on where to find help...but it doesn't hurt to stretch our arms out and show we care also...we have access to a network of mums who will no doubt be happy to give. Especially stuff that they're not going to ever use again. I know a lot of mums look out for new mums and mums-to-be to give their preloved gear to.

I don't think it's our place to decide whether they are deserving or not, it's just better to give.
I know this womans circumstance and don't find it hard to believe that she doesn't have a support network around her. It's always nice to do things for others to show we care!

maybe its just me but i would prefer a bit more information about these "needy mums".

there are so many organisations set up to help people in need and i personally think giving people the information to contact these organisations can be more helpful in the long run.

i guess in this case too i find it hard to beleive that someone with a 3 yr old doesnt know anyone else but does know to contact oh baby?

Hey, we have another lovely young mum to be in need of our help! This mum to be is in a difficult situation, just getting off her feet with a 3 year old and now 15 weeks pregnant. She has nothing, and no friends/family to help out.
She has been donated a pram by the ladies from her local church, but I know we can do just as well!
If you have clothing, moses baskets, bassinets, cots, blankets, toys, - baby stuff, in good condition that you're happy to donate to this lovely mum to be then please let me know!
