I cant understand why being a young mum is bad? is it because they think they are bad mums?

My mum was 19 when I was born and I think she did an amazing job with me.....and now tho I had Zaara at 27 she was 47 when she became a grandmum....she is proud of this fact.

I adore and respect all the young mums out there...more so the single young mums. My hats of to you! as far as those people who are sooo rude...well their life was obviously horrid and they cant be ever positive about any thing!! so Ignore their sorry arse!!

I seem to get people on both ends of the spectrum - I was 23 when I got pg and had turned 24 by the time Erin was born, am 25 now, which I reckon is pretty average for having kids. TBH had I been in the right place with my life, I probably would have started earlier too. It would be fun to pretend that it was meant as a compliment

I was stopped by a 50's-ish man when I was walking in the last two weeks. He had the nerve to tell me that when I'm older I won't be wearing anything nice-looking! He was referring to the kids and I think he was meaning cause I won't have much money but at the time I thought he might have been talking about my would-be size, since I won't have enough time to look after myself... now I'm not sure

I think "lets see now...my folks had me at 20, my wifes parents had her at 20, most everyone's parents I know my age (more or less 26 - give or take) had theirs at 20ish... wheres the hypocrisy come from? I don't get it. It's like they forget that THEY had kids at 20 or something.

one of the girls at work found out im preg and had a huge rant to my boss about what was i going to do im 24 not married and dont own a house!! When i found out i could have thumped her stupid thing is is that i may not own my house but she is preg with her second and taking out a huge morgage her and her hubby definately cant afford on one wage to build a brand new over priced house with no plan to go back to work - ill have the last laugh when im living comfy and she is stressed to hell.

I dont know why people think 18-25 is young to have kids!! Yeah, I guess I could take it as a compliment - if it wasn't for the complete look of shock on the person's face! Lol Pepsi it's funny that she assumed you were married cos you had a baby - DH and I had the opposite. We got our photos from our first scan the other day and it was adressed to "Ms.....". I was thinking, sure, just cos I'm 22 doesn't mean I'm not married! Just ask me or look on my finger!

I had a nice comment the other day from one of my older co-workers.. Just recently a nice lady in her 50s who was working at the deli counter at Foodtown was talking to me (I had never met her before) but I was by myself at the time. The next time I went in I took Alyssa with me and the same lady said "is she your baby?" and when I said yes she said "oh my goodness I thought you looked too young to be married and have a baby!" haha... I was actually flattered cause I'm 30 but still, funny how people assume things... I was 13 and pushing the stroller of the little girl my mother did in home care for and a lady asked if she was mine (she was about 2). now I know that I looked a bit older than 13, but I didn't wear makeup or dress older - I nearly died at the thought that I could have a 2 year old!

I don't understand why people even think about such things when they see people out with kids. Pretty much the only things I think are:

when I see someone with a heap of kids - I wonder if they are all related and isn't it great if they are/isn't she lovely taking out all the friends if they aren't.

When I had my 1st baby people were shocking!!!!! (and not shy to comment either, except if my mum was around, she would have clocked them one) I was still at school and even the teachers were rude. I stop going many places as I hated the glares. WHen I was working last year and preg with Alize one of the ladies said to me "oh your starting your family early" I said "Oh no I have an 11yr old and 6yr old" She nearly fell of the chair lol I also get people asking me if my little sister is staying with me to help with my son, Im like NO she's mine too. Heheheh its funny isnt it that people form judgments so quickly....I used to babysit my cousins a lot when I was younger (about 18-20) and they were 3 girls (now there are 4 girls) all under 10, and I used to get people making all sorts of comments to me, and I once was in the supermarket and the checkout lady (who I guess was in her 50s) asked me whether or not I had my the right choice in keeping all 3 of them (I think they were playing up at the time).....I nearly died?!?! Coudlnt believe that someone would have the nerve to say that to me....?

I get people cooing over Xavier and Josiah all the time. They usually make some comment about me having my hands full (especially as Josiah looks younger than he is, and Xavier looks older than he is) and are surprised when I say "no, my 6yo is a big help"

My sister gets them quite often in Wellington. She is a nanny for a band down there and takes the children all sorts of places. Yesterday at Te Papa she was asked why she had 2 children so young and so close together. I would've thought (like Emma said) people would be used to seeing young mums these days. I know of someone who had a baby at 13, so 18 - 20 doesn't seem all that young.

I remember when my wee sis was a bubba (I am 13.5 years older than her) we (my big sis and I) would take her places, and we used to get the worst looks from people! I wish people would mind their own!!!!!

ugh i know, really annoys me sometimes, others i just think "meh, they can sod off" my problem is that i look a lot younger than 25,so when i mention i have a nearly 5 year old daughter they think i had her at, i dunno, 10?

i mentioned to a patient (cant remember why ) that i had a nearly 5 year old , and she says (all hoity toity ) " you are far too young to have a 5 year old dahling" so i said " yeah, maybe, i was 20 when i had her, but you know what?shes healthy, happy, confident and outgoing so young or not ive done a pretty good job, and ive seen plenty of older mothers who havent" that shut her up.

Some random woman walked up to my sister in the mall once when she was babysitting Maya and said "I hope she's not yours!" Claire was mortified! She wasn't sure if it was her age (she was about 19) or the fact that Maya is fairly dark skinned...

I had office junior - lets call her K - take Ella today while i had a meeting. Anyways the others were about to go for a coffee at cafe and asked K if she wanted to come. I said for K to take Ella if she wanted as she had been fed etc...so she did.

K the Office junior is a kid of about 18 - 20, lovely girl, adores Ella and dotes on her! Not her job but she does.

Anyway apparently at cafe with ella in stroller two women at table near them kept staring and whispering (not so quietly)about K and bubs!!! OMG obvioulsy disapproving of young girl with baby!!! SO older secretary with them apparently got sick of it and yelled at them to Stop staring etc...

HOW RUDE!!!!! I told K etc that they should have replied that she was the nanny and bubs was a celebrities child and left them guessing or something similar....God some people are sooo rude!!!
