I have taken the kids to restaurants from early on, and haven't really had any problems... I think as long as it caters for kids eg their own menu and baby is settled you should be able to go to any family friendly restaurant.

I would personally feel more comfortable going to someone's home than a restaurant (I' thinking of the 3 month old). Even if bottle fed, it's easier to do in a house on a couch than trying to balance in a restaurant with waiters and heaps of noise around. We used to go to Cobb n Co regularly, esp when DF lived on base it was our Sunday alternative to the mess. However on our last visit the service wasn't that great, put us off going again.

We really enjoyed it fluery but we were both raised in not well-off families so it might just be that we have a lower standard? They will be coming down Friday and we'll have dinner at home, Sat will either go to the esplanade or te manawa and probably Leasureplex (sp).

She is bottle feed so no problems there, think i'll see what they want to do and how tired everyone is after a day of activites.

Maybe if we have an early tea everyone will be content.

IMO the more low-key the restaurant is, the more comfortable it is to take children there. I'm not a fan of Valentines (don't think it is good value for money) but I do like to go to Cobb n Co. DH and I went there last weekend (after we changed our minds on dessert and coffee LOL) and took Krystiana with us, she doesn't fit in a capsule and didn't need a highchair so I wrapped her in a blanket and just lay her by my feet while we ate (which she is totally OK with) and we had turns holding her between courses.

It totally depends on the family. Does she bf, is she fairly comfortable doing that in public? (I am because I've often been in that situation now, after 3 babies, so I'm used to it.) Will she be travelling a lot that day so would enjoy a quiet night at home? The 7 yo may enjoy a change of scene (and IMO 7yos act very well behaved at restaurants because they are different and seem 'posh' LOL).

I'm not keen on Valentines but it is an option with a 7yo and perhaps a wide variety of tastes?

And a roast dinner at home is always lovely. So definitely that's an option, depending on how much you'll be out in the afternoon of course.

I would take both boys back there with a set of grandparents, not just with me and DH. Most places in Palmy cater for children. We have taken Andrew to Lone Star when he was 2 and it great. They do have a kids menu which they give you once you are there. thanks, Maia is a very settled baby but i'm thinking it might be more relaxing to stay in and have a nice dinner.

we havent taken haleigh out to dinner yet, but i would say if you were going to take kids out for a meal do it early so your home at a good hr for them not to start to act up.

im fine in cafes with haleigh sometimes but other times its jsut far to unbearable to even do.

I go out to restaurants, I do try to pick ones like Cobb & Co that have a play area and when i ring I ask if i can get a seat close to the play room so i dont have to get up all the time and check Kobe. A 3mnth old is pretty easy to have at a restaurant because they can stay in thier capsule and hopefully sleep the whole time unless its an unsettled baby of course. How comfortable/relaxed are you about taking your babies to restaurants?
As experienced and knowledgeable mums do you go out to dinner with your babies?
Are you able to relax and enjoy yourselves?
And are there any family friendly restaurants in Palmy that serve nice adult food too?
