I'm no expert here, but I noticed after only two days that he wasn't his usual self after changing to Heinz Nurture Gold. It took me a further couple of days to realise that it might be the formula, so I switched back after just under a week and within two days again he was back to normal. I have been told that each time you try them on a different formula, it's like changing their whole diet so it will take a bit of getting used to for their little tummies, and being bunged up is probably normal in the initial trial of a new formula. But if the problems last longer than a few days or a week or so, then it's probably time to try something else.

How long do you try a different formula for before you know if its working?
We have Kaleb on S26 gold at moment but he has difficulty pooing (sorry!) and it is green so thought it would be good to try BUT otherwise he's ok - would trying just one sachet of a different brand be enough to tell? My milk was slow to come in so in hospital they gave Gina Kericare so that's the one we bought to top her up. We buy the Gold Plus - supposedly better but then we don't use much so it hardly makes a difference. trial and error here. I started with karicare which bunged him up so went to Nuture gold which was good so stuck with it. We had a few sachets of Karicare regular and Heinz Nurture in the cupboard for 'just in case' when we were still breastfeeding. Turns out we needed them! When putting Ashlee on to full time formula, we tried Karicare and that just did not go well with her (had all sorts of constipation problems, wind issues etc). So tried her on Heinz Nurture and she's been on it since with no problems at all.

You'll obviously get loads of varying opinions here, but it's the best place for information on formula! I used the Karicare regular (not gold) as that was what MotherCraft reccommended when I was there with Kiya. We have always used Heinz nurture starter because when Kobe was in NICU they recommended it as his stomach couldnt handle the S26. Something to do with the whey dominate thing which they said would be a bit gentler on his tummy as its not so heavy. I had a few sachets of the S26 and found that although we had no problems with it, it smelt terrible! Could just be me though.

We are using Karicare starter, just the normal one, not the Gold one. We tried Heinz Nurture Gold for a week and had the week from hell, Sam was terribly constipated, fussy with feeding, wouldn't sleep, wouldn't burp.. We went with s26 as thats what my MW gave me to top Andrew up with as my milk was so low. We tried the other and they either made him constipated or gave him the runs so we stuck with s26. If we put Josh onto formula then he'll go with same way. I got a few of the 'one serve' size sachets from the supermarket to see whether there might be one that Erin preferred more, also a friend gave me the remainder of a tin to try of the S26 Gold - in the end that's what we stuck with and haven't had any problems.
