Yep, it all went ok, lots of pain ATM, but it is getting better. More "stingy" around the cuts. She kept the stones out of the gallbladder, which I have bought home to scare everyone with, there were about 12? Charlotte roomed in with me, and owuldn't sleep, lil bugga!! HAd to get my mum to come in and try to settle her at about 10pm, as I was dopey and it hurt to hold her, and she wouldn't lie down. She FINALLY went to sleep around 1am, woke again 40 mins later, had a grizzle, back to sleep, woke at 3.20 for a feed, had a grizzle, back to sleep, then woke at 7.30 happy as larry. She was hungy earlier, but wouldn't go near me (must have remembered the morphone milk, lol) as I had morphine around 10pm). It all went ok, but it's hard to tell an upset lil boy that mummy can't pick him up, when he is crying hard out for an "up bees" It was hard to get comfortable last night to sleep, and i'm sucking the panadols back, but feel better than I expected.

Bubs will be fine. I fed mine about 4 hours after surgery. And they know how petrified I was of giving any bad stuff to bubs. They were shocked to find out what medicine the previous dr gave me and they told me it was safe. (which in fact it really wasnt.)

The matron had a stern talking to me that one night to tell me to take the pethidine as she really doesnt think the voltarin will work and I was crying. (bubs kicked me straigt on the one hole) But yip she was a bit sleepy but nothing else wrong at all.

Length of nicks approx 10 cent piece.

Keyhole surgery was good but did have one stone that was still going through that they didn't catch - very, very painful cause wasn't expecting it. Had to have pethidine for it (my favourite!).

Recovery time was about 5 days, felt very painful, bending was difficult and i had no control over my stomach muscles. Make sure you have very loose/comfy clothes around entire stomach area.

The slightest jar to my stomach area made me hiss with pain during early recovery time. I wasn't very mobile.

I went to see the hospital lactation consultant straight after I had my first appointment with surgeon to find out about the feeding, as C won't take a bottle. Anesthetic has a "short half life" which means it is out of your system fast? I don't have to do a pump and dump, anyhow, and will be able to feed her all the time, although it is better if I do it before I have pain meds, and am asking to be prescribed ones with a "short half life" which means it isn't long release. I have fed her after morphine, though, which is ok, as while it does pass into your milk, it's not too bad. Just makes them sleepy. I'm a bit nervous...

( you cant even see where i had the op).

In fact by the time the doctor came around the next morning (9am) i was up, showered, dressed, packed and ready to go home.

I was told that if i was breastfeeding then ideally you should express some milk off, and after the op give bubs the expressed milk, express off your milk after the op and throw it away as it will have the anasetic (sp) in it...and then about 12 hours after the op you can start breastfeeding again.

I would just double check with the surgeon or hospital they will put you right

Afterwards I was sore when this one kicked me in the tummy and had to get pethidine for it. Voltarin didnt help a bit. I remember being more sore than what I was after the c-section.

But remember I had an emergency opp as attacks was so bad. So I am not a normal case. In SA they you only stay overnight and should eat normally and feel normally after 3 days. So quick recovery. (I was another story however.) BFding was a bit awkward. Just use a pillow but I could do it. After all the issues was sorted it wasnt a problem at all anymore.

Now basically more than a year later I am feeling great. Do get heartburn if I eat too much (good for me though), where I never use to get it before and they did say I will suffer from that more if I fall pregnant again. But further it was the best thing that ever happened.

And oh yeah it was done laprascopic (sp?) so healing was quick.
