I keep thinking that would be like me still be feeding my eight year old and there is no way I would ever go there! It must mess them up. I agree with you emma it does boarder on incest. Worse she called it "Num Nums" My son would think I'd lost the plot. I'm still feeding abby at 7 months and I think 1 year is going to be my limit. LOL Maria, I remember when you came to Auckland when the girls were little sitting on the steps waiting for that other lady trying to bf our girls and both of them just wanted to have a good nosy around!

Oh, and I draw the line at breastfeeding toddlers in public. At that age they soooo can wait till they get home. Some of the Playcentre mums are still feeding their 3 and 4 year olds, and they feed them at Playcentre. Alyssa would never take the bottle either. And i did have to bf in public a couple of times but felt very embarrased as she was VERY nosey and would come off and look around lots and my boobs arnt easy to hide. I completely second/third/fourth the boob tube idea. I usually wear a singlet under another top so I can pull the top up and singlet down as it is freeeeeezing with your back exposed. only problem is that the straps of the singlet get a bit stretched! i really like the idea of a singlet with detachable straps.

I'm not against bf in public as long as women are descreet. After all it's perfectly natural.But I think descreet is the key word. We went out with the boys a while ago and there was a woman feeding her about 1 year old but she had everything hanging out,it was all I could do to stop jayden 3 from having a closer look,and my 8 year old being the pervert he is couldn't stop staring. In his loudest voice he said "You don't feed with your boobs hanging out mum" I try to be a little descreet even at home especially when my 8 year old is there as at that age they are very curious. she was making me feel uncomfortable let alone hubby he went red. I just don't feel comfortable doing it. I guess it just comes down to how comfortable you are. I agree Emma. I also just use tops that can be pulled up, as opposed to shirts. the best thing about winter is I can wear a cardy or jacket and most people have no idea. I don't feed abby in public as a rule however we went to the gardens on sunday and the monkey decided she wasn't going to take her bottle she wanted mummy. I found tops I could lift up were better than button up ones in public because they were more discreet. I love the boob tube idea tho coz my back was always exposed! But button up nighties were great for when Maya was tiny. another alternative. Is to put a boob tube under your normal top. When you want to feed pull the boob tube down and your tshirt up. nup not at all. they might be convenient but millions of women do without them..

i have found the best tops for feeding to be stretchy ones.. i have a lot of those winter woolen ribbed skivvys... they keep me warm,. they aren't all bulky or baggy and they look nice and tidy. another plus is they pull up easily to feed and yet don't end up being soo loose that they get in the way.   other good tops are t shirts, and ones that maybe button down the front so you can only undo what's necessary to feed and keep the rest covered.. or tops with two-way zips that allow you to do the same thing.
