It puts my mind at ease a bit more, as I have decided to breastfeed but I don't think I'll want to be flopping it out in public, so EBM would be a lot easier. <br /><br />I guess the good thing is I don't have to train the baby (or the daddy) to bottlefeed from someone else for a while as it'll just be me anyway!]]>

I waited until bf was established. Anyway, she didn't have any trouble with changing between. Some babies can get lazy as Annie said but Hannah did prefer the 'real deal'. Only thing I should have done was got DH to practise feeding her the bottle before he was left with her - she was only used to taking it off me. At 6-9mos she 'fasted' until my return and that was the end of the EBM <img border="0" src="https://www.ohbaby.co.nz/forum/smileys/smiley5.gif" border="0">]]>

After that he refused the bottle flat out and still won't have a bar of it!<br />He loves his dummy though so I don't know if it is nipple confusion or just cos he's stubborn like his mama.]]>

I offered my two youngest babies bottles EMB within their first week and they took it fine THEN Mercedes spat the bottle and refuse to take it from 3mths onwards ( I was studing fulltime and had to bf between classes as she wouldnt except anything and lost weight) Alize wouldnt take the bottle after 8wks old. When they suck your breast, they have to suck and "wait" for your let down, where as with a teat and bottle, it comes out first suck or two and fast.  The idea is that some babies get lazy and find the bottle easier and start refusing mum cos bottle is easier.  I didn't give char a bottle at all (jake was mixed fed) and got some help on how to introduce it to her from lactation consultant before I went to hospital.  She won't take a bottle from me though.]]>

We use the tommee tippee closer to nature range that are meant to be more like a breast and supposedly easier for baby to switch between. Problem is, he then never accepted a bottle and she had to keep b/f constantly until 9 months, which interferred with her study.<br /><br />Her sister, however, gave one of her children a bottle of EBM at 3 days so she could swap easily while she was studying, and he's absolutely fine. No nipple confusion whatsoever.<br /><br />Has anyone had any experiences good or bad with swapping between bottle and breast (even if bottle is still EBM)? Any info/opinions on this? TIA! Just starting thinking about it, and its bugging me!]]>
