You can get pretty good woolen blankets on trade me.. Toni,

I was expecting to start the classes alot earlier too, but small towns etc, only run classes as the demand is there. So, we have 2 x Sunday classes for 6 hours each week, and 2 x Thursday night classes for 2 hours each, spread over 4 weeks.

Thanks for the pic Busymum, I think I have everything that I need to make up the cots. Yea the mw and hospital mws are excellent for all those wrap and sleep issues, and while you are at the hospital they are on call 24/7

Here's Krystiana's cot, it's a bit rumpled because I had just got her up and was then limited to one hand. She has an underblanket, a top and bottom sheet (I only use the top now that she isn't wrapped though), a duvet (actually it's two summer duvets into one cover), and a woolen blanket for nights.

You can get the hospital midwives to show you how to wrap your twins. I would have thought antenatal for multiples would have started way earlier than that?!?!

I think we started ours at 26 weeks (10 week class) and we were the last on the EDD list (and had the last baby of the class)

Our class wasn't very good for post-baby info. We didn't get any info on swaddling, bathing etc. She was more focused on BFing and PND/Baby blues which is important but so are the other stuff, especially if your hospital is crap too

Good to hear, I have a cute matching set that I will put on each cot for before the twins arrive, just so the room looks pretty, but I don't think they will stay on. Am I right in assuming that I will get shown where to sleep them and how to wrap them etc at antenatal classes? We don't have bumpers, I did on Maya's but only at the foot of the cot coz it looked cute.

we did use cot bumpers with jake, and pretty much the only reason was that he HATED being wrapped from a newborn, but in a cot, constantly (like 7 times a night) got a limb caught in the sides of the cot. after we "installed" the bumpers - no more waking up....well, from that anyway. Ditto on the cotbumbers that shouldnt be used at all until a year.

Well I have a campcot with a bassinet in it and I have an iron cot for the lounge. I did have a cot bumper for the top of the iron cot. But it was fastly secured plus it was for her daynap and I didnt leave her even for a second then anyway so felt quite safe.

I have just white sheets for the campcot and had pink ones for the iron one. And then just a few baby blankets. Didnt have a pillow or a duvet. It is too much of a breathing problem before a year for me. But then she ended up in my bed anyway.

We only recently got a cot bumper to help stop the draftiness/coldness from around the head of the cot.

We've got 2 aircell blankets and a heavier fleecy one plus a sheet. Depending on the warmth/cold of the night, we give or take one of those aircell blankets.
Ours are definitely mix and match! Yeah everything I read about and was told also indicated that cot bumpers and all the fancy trimmings aren't necessary and are also a safety risk. To be honest I don't think I would have bothered with them anyway cause it would have been:
A) Extra stuff to wash.
B) Extra stuff to spew on. Hence more washing again.

At antenatal class the midwife told us not to have cot bumpers because it stops the cot breathing and also is another suffocation risk and not to use those small duvets etc until they are at least a year old.

Ours is mix and match... all we use is just sheets and a couple of wool aircell blankets (when needed). At least they are easy to clean when he decides to spill all over them lol

Just wondering how others have set up their cots? Do you have cot bumpers and those little vallance things and all matching linen, or is it i a bit of a mix and match thing?

All the piccies I see are of these lovely costs with fancy trimmings, but what is the norm? and what is just a plain waste of money?
