I have the reverse situation, DH is very competent in the kitchen but it reduces ME to tears. No good at co-ordinating the cooking times and get bored and wander away ...

Not very domestic I know but I got sick of being stressed about the whole business.

So, DH and I have reached a compromise that *might* work for you and your DH. I decide what's for dinner, and then I cut up everything that needs cutting up and pull out everything that he should use. He looks after the actual cooking. Makes me useful without feeling totally useless in the kitchen.

Mmmm sushi. Apparently hubby is going to make some over the weekend to say sorry. I actually dont like sushi that much. But he wants to start practicing rolling ect. So getting smoked salmon for him to practice right now. Nope he doesnt like cooking at all. Erm... at the risk of stepping on your toes...

Can I suggest you ask him more often? A man's ego is fragile. If he gets confidence in those things he might just help out more.

(if on the other hand he doesn't actually WANT to do anything like those, well then... fish'n'chips it'll be. But "not wanting to do those jobs" is often a confidence thing as well)

Naaah I ended up making that pasta and the mince. Didnt scream or yell. Damage is done. Will look later at replacing the countertop and see what that will cost me ect. We still staying for quite a while so just going to deal with it later before he goes and mess another countertop up.

Well now I guess doing simple tasks in the kitchen is off his list as well. (and I never let him cook anyway unless he makes bean soup. Well I think I have had it with asking hubby to do anything remotely domestic. First a few years ago he turned white washing into blue and red.

Now tonight after I have done a gym workout in the garage for the first time in years I got up and asked him if he can brown the mince for me and boil the water for the pasta and then make the pasta. Anyway go off to my shower. I still put everything on the stove and turned it on while he is standing there and said yip he will do it. I turned around and told him the stove is on ect and he said yip I know it and I will just put M down.

Well after my shower I get into the lounge and it is full of smoke. I immediatly told him I think something is burning. He said no kidding. Bloody man left a pot with a bit of oil on the stove and was sitting on the couch and completely forgot about everything. Then he heard poof and said oh no that is not good. And there was a big flame ect. So put a cloth over it and it was down but as soon as he removed it it came back so picked the pot up and put it on the freaking table top and burned the top. I mean come on.

Now I have to explain to the freaking landlord what he did. I swear I must seriously love this man that I havent killed him yet so far.

And we still sit without supper. I will have to go do something really soon to make something. Aaaah.
