hey nzpiper love the photo your furry friend in the sink! Lol!! Is that louey?

as you know my old cat has been quite sick of late too - he also pukes his bikis up but seems fine with jimbos veal cat meat - he has to have it nuked in the microwave for - (6 seconds on high.. Lol..) this seems to do the trick.. I have tried him on the other jimbos red meat but he just won't eat it! (Oh & he loves roast meat of any sort!)

The only bikis he seems to like is - Excellence brand in the shiny purple packet.. it's quite stinky but.. he likes it!

Other than that he will hang around hoping for whatever meat we are eating for dinner.. he is definitely fussier than he used to be & refuses to eat all other bikis other than the ones I mentioned.. Probably my fault for spoiling him

yeah, he gets checked every 3 months at the vets and is always in great health apart from his heart. I think he is lazy and finds wet food like "junk food" and dry food is "healthy". Just like kids. The problem is compunded by his little brother who will happily eat anything. Thankfully the little one doesnt steal from the older one.

I think we will just try little and often. Oh, he's gorgeous I love the photo in the sink - it looks like it's made for him. I'm a bit biased though, we have a persian/birman cross. Our boy has the Birman shape but his hair is longer and more Persian. (And he sleeps with his arms straight out like yours too - the superman pose).

Oh, I just thought of something else. Our cat was sick when we got him as a kitten and since then he has continuously had problems with his gums and teeth. We find that he goes off his dry food when his gums are inflamed, it's probably too sore to eat them. Could this be a reason why your guy only likes the wet food perhaps? Has he had his teeth checked recently? As for the dairy question. Apart from when he steals the milk outa my porridge (he loves it) we only give him the Whiskas milk...he adores it!!!! Just a word of warning with the dairy, it doesn't agree with some cats and will give them diarrhoea. It does to my cat but not to my mums ones.

My mum's cats are the same if she gives them a nice treat like prawns. They will scoff it so fast that it comes straight back up and out. And the 'little and often' like you said is the only way to stop it.

No BS, he has always had this tendancy. I really believe he just gutses himself and then it hits his tummy and comes straight back up.....it is never even chewed!!! And he wants more food straight away!

I wonder if he is like a reflux baby????

I love our cats but also know that they get stressed out...hes not doing it for attention knowing that a bubs is en route is he???? unfortunately we had to have one put down the other week as she was acttng out and weeing everywhere, pooing all over the place and generally stressing out....vet said there was no changing her at all now....and as sad as it was for us it was good to know it wasnt a medical thing we could have stopped....

Hi Nzpiper, I think you and I shared posts a while ago about our sick fur-boys. Our boy was one 7-8 tablets a day, and we struggled to get them into him too. He was far too clever and would eat the meat and then spit out the pill!! Smarty pants! Eventually we started buying those roast chickens from the supermarket and hid his pills in pieces of that. He seemed to love it - so might be worth a try.

Our little girl is the spewer (3 times this week she has spewed on the bed, and its soaked through to the duvet....as you can imagine I am SOOOOO impressed!!) Drycleaners love us!! We have tried all sorts with her - and the key seems to be variety...and plain old jellymeat seems to be good as well. The other thing that she seems to like and manages to keep in down - human tuna (just get the one in springwater).

my cat has problems with throwing up her food also so she's been on ID biscuits for about 6yrs now. she stills has a few chuckups every now and again but she's better than she was

Amber, that is such a cool idea! Expensive, but hey, it could be worth it?

Have you ever tried soaking dry food? It's hard to know if it would work because if he doesn't eat dry food (and I would say it may be too dry for him if he's throwing up meat), but throws up wet food, it's a bit of a pickle, isn't it?

I'm assuming you've probably taken him to a vet. I knew someone who's cat had liquid meals cos it couldn't eat.

OK, I've just realised I'm probably no help at all, but just want to say good on you for taking the time to do that! What sort of wet food are you giving him nzpiper? Is he not eating the dry food because he knows you will eventually give him fresh meat maybe? Have you tried holding back the fresh meat and only leaving dry food out for him and just waiting him out? I know having to eat dry food will slow him down but I also know some cats will hold out for up to 3 days and still not eat it. They can be so stubborn.

And I'm sure I remember seeing somewhere a gadget that is set on a timer and has about 4 compartments to it so you can set it for certain times and the lid will turn and allow the cat to eat the next batch. If you could find something like this you could drip feed him the food without having to do it yourself.

Ok, a totally un baby related post but as most of you give excellent advice and a lot of you have cats I thought "who better to ask"

I have a very fussy eater of a cat. He is on lots of meds for his heart and we hide it in his food so it is important that he eats his food.

Eating food is not so much of an issue as keeping it down! Little bugger will not eat dry food at all (we have tried many over the years and he has finally given it up. even the Hills sensitive stomach). He gobbles down fresh meat and no sooner has he finished it but he throws the whole lot back up!!! I have tried special hypoallergenic wet food from the vet and the little monkey vomits that too.

Apart from spending an hour slowly giving him mouthful after mouthful (and he still will occassionally vomit) I cant think of any other ways to do it.

With a new baby on the way (yep, baby fits into post somehow) I dont have time to spend an hour feeding my "big boy". and whilst we draw out his food he would have you believe we were torturing him!

ANY SUGGESTIONS?????
