She checked Jeremy out from head to toe and just said that if he is still not putting weight on in a month or keeps losing over the next 2 weeks then we need to start to wondering what is going on but until then, she told me not to worry and made the comments that
1) most babies that are sick are not contented and just downright miserable
and
2) if my milk wasn't good enough then he wouldn't be sleeping 11-12 hours at night.
She also made the comment that malnourshed African Mums still can feed babies that thrive so there is no reason why my milk isn't good enough
so
yay for my mammaries and yay for Jeremy

It's awful when our wee ones are slow to gain weight, you feel so powerless. I remember when Maya was diagnosed as "fails to thrive" at 9 mths all I could see was that awful word "fails" and I felt like I was the worst mother in the world.
Fingers crossed that the milk fattening tricks that the others have suggested work for wee Jeremy. It's great that you have a good relationship with your doctor, it's important to have someone you trust.
And at the end of the day, regardless of how much weight he gains now or later he will be fine! Maya dropped from the 97th percentile to the 3rd and ended up in hospital and I felt like she was never going to grow, but she has and even now 3 1/2 years later she is still a skinny wee thing, I guess it's just the way she is meant to be!

I would have never gone there thinking she would suggest anything like bottle feeding (and hopefully she won't) but its a good idea to be prepared just incase, cos just like you, I would cry I know I would.
I have to admit that I am struggling with the thought that maybe my milk isn't good enough, makes me feel very inferior instead of super-human which I think anyone who has bf should feel

Mix together 2 tablespoons of flaxseed meal and water, set aside for 3-5 minutes. Cream (beat well) margarine and sugar. Add eggs one at a time, mix well. Stir flaxseed mixture and add with vanilla to the margarine mix. Beat until blended. Sift together dry ingredients, except oats and chips. Add to margarine mixture. Stir in oats then chips. Scoop or drop onto baking sheet, preferably lined with parchment or silpat. The dough is a little crumbly, so it helps to use a scoop.

Bake 8-12 minutes, depending on size of cookies.

Edited by GandT
