ok there are different sects of the Amish, and there are the strict ones and then also different groups who live in same town but arent "amish" as such - like Mennonites etc....hence why they reap the profits! The true Amish wont sell them....

BTW Chovy did you know they are sold at a place called Intercourse...next to Blueballs, and birdinhand, and paradise....not far from Hershey! TRUE!!!!

Ooooh my my mum is SO into quilting.
She does the funkiest wall hangings as well.
She made us a traditional beautiful quilt when we got married as well.

It's really not that hard. My mum has done heaps (I have 3 at home here if you want some ideas). I can send onto you a heap of tips from her if you like - once she is set up in Oz I can get her to email a heap of pointers. My mum is very much into quilting at the mo, she has done some fantastic pieces.
She gets a lot of enjoyment out of it.

I have to say I am still waiting for her to make me something!

Ive never done it but have always loved the idea of making them using the childrens clothing, you know you see in american movies (thinking Stepmom specifically) and its got thier first dress, first jeans, christaning dress etc... I'm going to give quilting a go! Briona has such a thing for blankets/wraps but I'm getting a bit sick of them all being left lying around the house . Anyway I thought I'd give making one a go, Christmas is my goal at this stage (even though I know it will be hot but never mind), and I'm going to make a big letter 'B' on it. Anyone else done quilting?
