I picked up Jetts school enrollment pack last week :(

we had the anatomy scan and are having another BOY! much to DD's horror as she wanted a girl aparently shes sick of boys haha wonder how long that will last, and also DH was totally convinced it was a girl also so he was wrong LOL

Anouska what school do your kiddies go to? we have been looking at schools in tauranga as im not to happy with the one here but theres so many of them and most are zoned.
DD only has next year left at primary then will be at intermediate anyway so were looking at sending her to Aquainas (excuse spelling) as it was the sister school to where she would be going if we were in rotorua still

How's tings ticking along cat? Had your anatomy sna yet? Hope it went well!

Eek! I'm thinking of heading to the school soon to pick up enrollment forms for Jett! Ick it's making my stomach turn just the thought, haha. It's coming around way too fast! He seems ready for it, looooves kindy and goes 4 mornings a week, but know he would love to go fulltime! His speech is coming along nicely and i'm confident he'll be up tp speed by the time he starts school. Although he seems ready, he still seems little to me!

Oh wow, you've moved up there! My FIL lives there, so we've spent a bit of time there over the holidays. Not in town though, he lives just before you get into town on the Tga side in the new sub division. Busy little town isn't it!

news finally expecting again after 3 very frustraiting years, due 26th july
another big age gap though, but at least there all the same LOL we havnt told anyone apart from my dad so far

sux about getting burgled candice,and right before christmas, what scumbags!! good on you for not going on FB during the week, its such a time killer LOL

cant believe they start school this year, i had a school all picked out then we decide to move towns just before xmas im not to sure of the school here ive heard mixed things about it but we are only about 20min from tauragna so mite end up sending him there depending on how sarah gets on, they dont go back till the 7th! jett starts his new kindy tomorrow.

Hey Anouska (sorry if i spelt it wrong).

I kind of got to relax. Got burgled just before Christmas so spent the first month of my 7 week break stressed and angry. Christmas was good. New years was great, we went camping for the first time.

I officially started 2nd year yesterday so back on the horse. I am no longer on facebook during the week as i find it too distracting and i am hoping for good grades this year.

Ohh Cat, news?

I cannot believe its school this year! I have picked a school i am just trying to get her in out of zone. It is SOOOOO hard to find a house here now that isnt damaged :(

Wow aren't the kids so grown up now!
Kylah is doing fantastically, she is such a wee tomboy! Loves batman, spiderman and anything superhero like, but then she loves dora clothes and hanbags :)

I am just finishing up my first year or bachelor of midwifery. Such a busy and rewarding year!

Wow wow wow Nikki!!! How frustrating but the end result was amazing!!! You did it all on your own!! It is such an amazing feeling huh, when there's no intervention, just you pushing your baby out (albeit fn painful!). My first birth was horrid with Rico, 2nd was amazing, 3rd amazing again, but Ava's birth was out of this world! So quick, and even though I had the epi put in (thinking I was in for another long labour) I started pushing her out as soon as I lay back down so the epi hasn't kicked in it so I felt everything! I think fast labours make you remember it all much more clearly too (well i do).

Congrats again on your little boy, so glad he didn't make you wait any longer!

Ok ladies, Archie Donald arrived last Thursday....here is his birth story.

So, trying to remember it all.

It was a niggly pregnancy with niggles starting on and off from 35 weeks. I was trying not to get too excited as I have always gone over wtih my previous pregnancies so was expecting at least 41 weekst his time to.

Monday 12th...nothing happening but saw MW for a routine check.   She did a stretch and sweep and told me I was 1cm dilated, still with a thick cervix but that it was very soft. Had a very crampy day that day.
Tuesday 13th...woke after a rough night with contractions. They werent too intense but some of them I did have to breathe through. Really thought things were about to start and was absolutely gutted when we woke in the morning and NOTHING was happening. In fact I felt pretty good. Best in a while.
Wednesday 14th...another night of contractions...., another morning with nothing. Later that day (after whinging that nothing was happening) I started to lose my plug...this got me very excited as I had never lost a plug before and I was quite fascinated. Was all crampy and spent a fair bit of time bouncing on a swiss ball. Texted Shane in the afternoon telling him not to be late, I felt things were about to kick off.....of course they DIDNT!

Thurs 15th Wed night I had the most contractions and some of them took some concentrating through. They carried on through most of the night but stopped in the wee hours of the morning. I was gutted and highly pissed off....getting very tired now. DH decided to stay home that day and made me call my MW.   We were going to catch up the next day for a CTG to see if anything was happening but decided to do it that morning instead. I met her over in Alex at 10.30. She put me on the CTG which didnt show any of my contractions even though I was getting them whilst there...they were about 12 min apart. She did an internal and said my cervix was still 1cm but thin now and she stretched me to 2cm..ouch!!!That day I slept, bounced, walked hoping to get baby to drop down. He ( I can say that now) had turned his head from a sideways position to straight on which impressed the MW. He was still only at -2. As the afternoon went on I started getting really strong contractions. They stopped me in my tracks but I could breathe through them. I withdrew to our bedroom as I ddint want to labour in front of my mother in law and I didnt want the boys to see me. At about 5pm I phoned my MW to say they were getting more regular (9min apart lasting about a min) and that I would get the boys off to bed and then we would come over. They STOPPED!!!! At this point I had had it!! I was bawling my eyes out in our room. MW had commented that there was no way I could be in labour as I sounded too calm but she did agree that its hard to tell over the phone. DH came up to find me. I was telling him that I can make them all go away by concentrating so the contractions were all in my head. I also told him I had had enough and was not going to have this baby EVER! I was so over it.We had a good "discussion" and finally he rang MW who was starting to worry that we hadnt come over. She agreed to see us again so Shane made me get in the car with our bags packed and head over to Alex once more. The conttractions started up in the car and were about 5 min apart..and getting a little more intense. MW did an internal at 8.30 and said still 2cm, membranes tight against babies head and CTG showed irregular mild contractions...even though I felt I was going through the roof with one of them). I burst into tears as I just couldnt take this on off thing anymore. She advised me that it was still pre labour and to go home and have a hot bath to slow things down so I could have a sleep. We got back out to the car and I completlely broke down. Then on the way home (its a 30km,20min drive) the contractions took themselves up a notch..or two!! I was struggling to get through them.
We turned into Cromwell and I made DH pull over for one as I couldnt tolerate the driving whilst contracting. I was getting into a right state at this stage wondering how I was going to manage REAL labour if I couldnt handle "pre labour". We turned into our street and I got one in the driveway, one in the garage, one 2 steps into the hall way etc etc. DH asked if I thought I might be in transition. I replied with "how can I be, I am only 2cm" .He ran me a bath, I got in and had one there...I couldnt get comfy, I couldnt move, they were so intense. At this stage DH rings MW back...she can hear me in the background and commented that I sounded like I was 7-8cm...until I said "I bloody well wont be". She told him that I needed to come back to Alex but maybe to time them for another half hour and see what was happening. I knew in my heart that she needed to come to me but I just couldnt talk at that stage. DH diligently started timing my contractions...that pissed me off..LOL

about this stage I think I was screaming at him to stop timing the bloody things and he was on the phone to MW saying I cant be moved she needs to come to us. I was starting to need to push.

I was upstairs in our bedroom kneeling on the floor over the side of the bed...I had so much pressure I was pushing with all my might to relieve it when I broke my waters...I thought I had wet myself but the relief was immense. Then shortly after I realised I was pushing a baby out....I actually felt calm as I realised what was really happening. DH had hung up from MW and was on phone to 111. I reached down to feel for myself and couldnt feel anything but noticed blood on my fingers. I made DH check and he couldnt feel either... Next push I felt the head come down...DH checked and told me it was just mucous...my arse it was. At that stage the operator told DH to get me onto the floor on my back as it was the safest way to deliver. I argued but had no choice...I guess its the safest way to "catch" baby. I pushed with alll my might..worried for a spilt second about ripping myself apart and then decided I could handle any of that but I needed to get the baby out. And next second I felt the head come out and I was about to say "check the cord and I think you need to help turn the head" when the body flew out straight after..OMG that felt SO GOOD!!!!!

DH lifted baby up and I saw he was a boy, then I quickly said , pass it between my legs and we covered him up with a towel. At that point the doctor arrived...to birth the baby. He was a colleague from the medical centre I worked at and I was actually relieved to see a familiar face. He was suprised when we showed him the baby born...so he then got to work on the placenta and a few minutes later I birthed that. Ambos turned up next and helped clamp the cord and cut it....then MWs turned up...with huge smiles ( I remember the smiles) and they helped me onto the bed, gave me the synto injection, checked baby out etc. I had a 0.5cm 1st degree tear and was going to get a suture until the MW checked again and it was already closing up! He was born about 10.20pm.

We had cuddles, fed, discussed it over and over and then I had a shower in myOWN shower..heavenly. I felt great, I had so much energy and wasnt sore in the slightest. It was magic. T had woken up during the pushing stage and had been onthe couch with Grandma and she bought him up to meet his brother...awwwwwww.We then trasnfered to the birthing unit for some recovery time.

So I think I made the birth story longer than my labour!

KABE - I feel your pain. Both my kids were never good sleepers (Ella especially!!!)....she was swaddled till she was nearly 1 and heavily reliant on her dummy....Toby was better but we've certainly had our ups and downs with his sleeping habits too....we also have a small house....Tobys room is right next to our room and I'm a light sleeper so am always being woken by him....we too leap up to re-settle him....far too quickly....but unfortunately thats just been our life for the last 4 years!

Sorry I don't have any 'quick' fixes....sending you lots of hugs xox

I'm having a mare again with Anahera. She's waking at least 6 times a night at present and I just don't know what to do about it. I've posted a Q in the forum about it, hoping someone has suggestions. I think it started because her reflux flared up, as she'd outgrown her Losec dose. Now it's become a bad habit. She's swaddled and has a dummy and so can't self-settle. Need to get rid of the props but don't know how. It's also tricky as her room is next to Eva's so I leap up to her the instance she wakes, so as not to wake E. As it is, the 3 of us are usually up by 5am.

Anyway, enough about me. Hope every one else is well

Bit stressed out at the mo. Me and the kids are sick which is making is hard to get stuff done. Kaelen's been such a monster. Driving me mad! He will not stop annoying Isabella. We still haven't found a house yet. There is one we're really interested in through Ray White but they don't rent houses out unless you've actually gone and looked through it, which we can't do! So i've asked my sister who lives in Auckland if she could do it for us. Just waiting to hear back from her.

Well Isabella has been SO clingy lately and keeps waking up all the time for weeks. She can get out of her cot now, so she'd just come into our bed when she woke up and then kick and hit all night and pull the blankets down constantly. So she's not much fun to sleep with! LOL. Thankfully she's slept through the last two nights. So hopefully it's the end of that. Need to get her a bed but i thought it would be easier to wait till the move is over.

Well i'm very proud of Kaelen. He's now toilet trained during the day. It was getting really frustrating that he wouldn't do it before since i knew he was perfectly capable. So the other day we got him to put undies on and kept getting him to go to the toilet. He's finally got it now after fighting it for so long! He happily goes off to the toilet without even being asked now. He hasn't had any accidents over the last 4 days. I'll start working on the night training once we've moved and settled in.

So tired. I really should be packing and cleaning but i just don't have the energy.

I'm really sad about Kaelen having to leave his kindy. He loves it there and was always so excited to go.

I hope all the sick mummies and kids are feeling better soon.

Deb, yay for moving to Aucks, be nice to meet you! I also don't know much about out South sorry.

Gosh all these sick children, damn you winter and your bugs! Both of mine have runny noses too but not much else really although L is very grumpy lately, but I think she's is just exhausted TBH.

We are all good here, L started back at dancing today after a couple of months off. She kind of lost interest so I didn't push it, but last week came home from kindy asking me why I didn't let her dance anymore ...she was the one that quit, not me! So anyway, she's back into it and loves it again already!

C has been great, cruisy wee thing is such a happy baby. Shes waking once, sometimes twice a night for feeding, but happily self-settles afterwards back to sleep. So I am only up for around 30 mins and then back to bed so I am feeling relatively sane (so far!)!

We are heading away to the snow in a week or so for 5 days. Will be nice to spend some time with DH as he doesn't see much of C apart from the weekends. There is a group of us going down to Ohakune, L is going to have ball with her cousins!

I've taken A to the dr twice in the past couple of weeks. With the temps going on I just wanted to make sure she didn't have an infection. The second time I took her on the way home from dc without having an appt - the nurse took her temp, and took it seriously when she saw it was 39.7. We were in to see a dr straight away even though there was a full waiting room!

She seems ok again now. And like Amy, N is just fine!! I'm pleased your boys are making it through without infections Nikki.

We went to the zoo this afternoon, and it was the first time that N really got into it - she has a fear of small furry animals (freaks out at cats and rabbits especially) but seemed very taken with the growling tiger and loved all the monkeys. She wasn't so sure of the (small) iguana...

I took the boys to the doctors this morning. What they have is viral (high temps, chesty unproductive cough), nothing doc can do for them. We were kept awake all night with one or the other coughing and now DH has it Oh...and apparently, with this type of viral infection, the cough lasts for about 2 weeks - great!

But hey, looking on the bright side, at least I'm complaining about 'normal' illnesses

Sounds great Deb - can't wait to try and come to a meet up to meet your and your two gorgeous monkeys.

Luke is still sick, my mum thinks I need to take him to the doctor, she thinks I have been saying for a little while that Luke is really tired - but reading that others have the same thing (other than some lingering tiredness before) has made me think I will wait a few more days and see how he goes. He has been on and off today, but has had a low grade fever most of the day. Pamol makes him feel better still, but doesn;t seem to kick the temp.

Amy is fine!

Nikki I think A has had the same thing as Rex - it has dragged on a bit for her - I thought she was over it, but then she had another couple of days of high temps.

I suppose it's related to her being sick, but A's run of good behaviour has gone out the window. At least N is a delight

Poor Rex is still getting high temps, yesterdays temp was as high as 39.6 But we managed to get it down quickly. I'm not rushing him to the docs yet, as I know other people who have had similar 'colds' and its just viral. I've also got it, but didn't think as bad as Rex has got it, until last night Now Jb has a runny nose and a nasty cough...looks like its spreading Oh well, guess you get that with winter, but spring is only a few days away!!!

Oh MM, it must be so hard Hope Daniel has some settled nights for you.

Monster, hope you are feeling better soon.

BabyG, wow, you sound busy!!! Hope things settle down for you soon too.

Thanks for the birthday wishes for A. We had a lovely family day together for her birthday and the party went well on Saturday. DH has taken today off as I've been sick all weekend and really need a chance to rest up and recover.

Bel - good on you for trusting your feelings on that one, it must have been hard to make the call, but the relief must have been worth it.

Deb - what a darling A is! There's no way T would have been so obliging.

Nik - I'm so impressed with your sock monkey success - how awesome that you can use them to help others too.

MM - more for you. Is Blair well at the moment? I'm just asking as I know T struggles more at Playcentre when he's not 100% well - I find then he needs the peace and quiet of time at home, even if he doesn't seem that unwell.

Both boys are still a little all over the place, Blair hadnt even been at kindy 20 mins and was already having to have some time-out Daniel had trouble getting to sleep again last night, and finally fell asleep around midnight-ish, and then woke at 4am unhappy. After half an hour of not being able to settle him, I gave in, paracetamoled him - which encouraged him to drink more water, moved Blair into our bed, and I crawled into B's bed with D. Finally got him to sleep and managed to get a few more zzzz's myself

How are things going MM? I'm wondering if our nearly 4 year olds are going through a hormone surge. From memory, a boy gets a surge of testosterone about this time and that could explains some aggressive behaviour R is displaying towards Jb. Several mums I've spoken to are having a few issues with their nearly 4 year olds. I certainly know that my two have cloth ears at the moment so are spending more time in time out for not listening. Ahhhh the joys!

Good on you Bel for choosing what is right for you Knowing I've only got a few more years at home, I'm trying to make the most of it.

I've decided that for the month of Sept I'll donate $2 for every monkey sold to Autism New Zealand Inc - especially for MM and BabyG's nephew (I know he lives in Australia so unfortunately, won't benefit from it) and a good friend of mine who has a little girl with autism. I love being able to give back, and wouldn't be able to do it without my little hobby/business.

Well, I nearly went and got myself a job, got as far as a date/time for interview, but then the day before I wimped out! I decided that I wasn;t ready to have to put Amy into care - it was a P/T position that I would probably have been able to fit around kindy times. But I felt much better once I had let them know. Basically it came down to the fact that I don't NEED to work and I wasn;t entirely happy with the idea, so DH and I decided to wait another year before thinking about it again.

I hope you are getting on ok MM. If it makes you feel any better, A sometimes hurts N very deliberately, and in anger. There is also a girl at their daycare who regularly hurt other kids. I think a bit of that behaviour is quite normal. I tried your monster spray trick with "bad dream" spray with A the other night!

I hope everyone else is well. We seem to be having a bit of a run of bad luck and more stress than usual. DP is away this week, and A is sick again...I had to facilitate a 2hr workshop this morning and she had to come with me - she was sooo good! She watched DVDs on my laptop and drew pictures etc and didn't interupt at all

Yay for C's weight gain Peachy! I hope things have continued to improve.

MM - that must be tough, but at least the kindy are working with you to support Blair and give you all some strategies. Poor guy - hope the monster spray worked.

Quick update: Apparently it doesnt look like this child's eye has gone black, (a little relieved) I'm just in the process of trying to find out if it was an intential wallop, or an accidental lash out

Blair and I had a really good talk yesterday, one of his problems is sharing toys that he is no longer playing with, so I need to try and do some work on that. On top of this it turns out this behaviour has gone pear shaped more so in the last 2 weeks - so I'm looking for triggers - not excuses. During the chat last night it came out that there is a black monster in the house which scares Blair - and has only been here for a short time (this ties in with the wet nights, nightmares - or terrors - as well as some wet during the day as he hasnt taken himself off to the toilet fast enough, (or maybe moved bits around enough) Before the boys went to bed we ues the 'Monster Away Spray' and sung the song that you have to use with it, AND he took a friendly soft toy monster that I had made him to bed with him. It looks like it may have done the trick.

Bought the head teacher up to speed with what we have found out, and we are working together - along with Group Special Ed (ministry of Ed) to try and find out if there is any other underlying factors

Sorry guys a bit of a woe is me post/rant :(

Daniel has gone back to having sleep issues, in the last 2 weeks he has woken probably 2 out or 3 nights at some hideous hour - 1.30 - 2 am, and not gone back to sleep for over an hour - except for the one night. AND on 2 occassions has woken and not gone back to sleep - one night just after 4am, the other just after 5.30am. I joked to dh that its just about 'as bad' as having a newborn in the house. Unfortunately me and constant broken sleep do not mix well.

To top that off, (and I'm embarrassed to admit this but I need ideas) I got called into the teachers office at kindy today - it appears that Blair has been a bit rough and has actually hurt one of the other children, and is carrying out potentially dangerous behaviour - as well as lashing out when not getting his own way. This has just happened this week so I am really hoping its a combo of him not feeling well and not eating properly - but that being said he has only been at kindy 2 days this week - monday and today. I was totally shocked and disappointed in him, I really cant believe that my boy is doing this, but I need to, and I need to get it sorted. Its not the sort of behaviour we sees modeled at home (either in person or on tv) so I have no idea where he has got this from. I put him into time out today for yelling at me, and ended up telling him he needed to stay there until he was ready to say sorry - yup a bit extreme but nothing else seems to be working at the moment.

He gets one on one time with me - Daniel still has naps - or rests in the afternoon (and that doenst affect his night sleeping) I try to involve him with the stuff that I'm putting into practise that I'm learning from the course - eg last night teaching Daniel to play with a toy. Eeeeeeek

Bel, that is so sweet about the Sock Monkeys - thank you so much

I use to feel guilty, but I'm finding it so much easier now they are older. I generally have some special mummy and Rex time in the weekend (while DH is having special Jacob and Daddy time). During the week, I have special Jacob and Mummy time while Rex is at kindy. And DH has special Daddy and Rex time when they take Rex's motorbike for a ride (yes, Rex has a little motorbike!!! Its a early birthday present). We call it 'special time' and the boys seem to respond really well to it. I find, especially Rex, is more settled if he can have some special mummy time.

Great news about the increased weight gain Peachy. Well done

I am probably the wrong person to answer about the guilt thing, as I'm not even feeling very guilty about going back to work and putting the girls in daycare. In my view, it doesn't pay to over-think these things - you have two kids and that isn't going to change. You can only do what you can. At the end of the day, the two kids are going to appreciate having a sibling more than if they got a bit more of you to themselves while they were young. Just relax and go with the flow.

I had a good friend that told me all about the guilt before I got pregnant with Pops, but I never expected it to be sooooo bad! I feel terrible every single day about trying to manage my time to give both of them enough attention, its so hard! I had a mini meltdown today too because (even though I went away for a weekend.... ) I feel like I never get any downtime now with 2 kids to manage!

Yes, all the time! I hate it...especially when I do sit down to play with them and they fight each other for my attention
I don't know how to deal with it or what to do about it...Joy gets most of the attention, poor Austin gets little because Joy is so full on and when she's away at kindy he's sleeping.

I wonder if there are any lurkers that can help us with some advice??

Just had to pop in and report C's weight gain for the week of 270 grams - yes, back on track! My research and how I have changed the structure of my b/f's is working

Now question for you ladies with two kids, do you have Mummy guilt? I often feel guilty because I don't get to spend the same amount of time with L like I used too and I feel guilty cause C gets fed, burped and shoved in the bouncer or under the play gym so I can actually get something done each day. I feel so guilty some days and it really consumes my thoughts. Please tell me its "normal" to feel this way?

Hi all - yey for Friday!

Peachy - like others have said I wouldn't be too concerned about wee C - sounds like she is getting enough milk or she wouldn't be such a lovely contented wee bundle.

We've been knocked for 6 with sickness - DP has had been bedridden most of the week off with flu and A and N have both had a virus with ongoing fevers over the last 2 weeks (not at the same time - so lots of juggling). Add to that working, and still not having a car! Work has been very good about my time off, and I have learned to appreciate how much DP actually does to help.

Mmmm jammies at 10:30 That's on my list for tomorrow

We are good here, DH is working up past Lukes kindy, so for the past 2 weeks he has been on kindy dropoff. Amy and I love it - she was still in her jammies at 10.30 yesterday morning!

Peachy, sorry that the weightgain isn't going so well, but I wouldn;t be worrying until you actually get a loss - a gain is a gain in most books! Look forward to hearing about the gain from this week. I remember having problems with too much foremilk, but more about lots of milk and Amy having trouble with wind. But I did the same thing, feeding from one side only and then topping up with that side before giving her the other side at the next feed.

Nikki, so pleased for you and your aftersocks monkeys!! Just showed the kids and DH - he was majorly impressed and Luke wants one!! Both of my kids love their munkmunks - Lukes sleeps with him every night and Amy drags hers all over the place. I will try and get a photo of them all for FB.

Peachy, sorry to hear about the weight gain concerns. Does seem strange given that the BFing sounds like it's going well! I'd just keep doing what you're doing and just feed from one side each feed, so you know she's getting the hind milk. I think I only fed from one side for the first 4 weeks, then started offering both sides after that.

Not sure if you know about the KellyMom website, but she offers great BF advice and i always go to it when I'm having issues. Currently I'm doing top-ups a couple of feeds a day as Miss A doesn't seem satisfied in the afternoon/evening anymore

Hey can any of you remember how to print off all your individual posts? I remember last year I posted the details on how to do it (copied from another thread), but can't for the life of me find the post. I've got all my entries up to June 2010 but would like to copy more recent ones.

So true Peachy, at least she is gaining And she looked extremely contented when I saw her

I found the same thing after Austin was born...just didn't have the motivation to express.

monster thats what I think too, a gain is in the right direction and its not like she's a little tiddler thats not eating well. That is an interesting article you provided, thanks for that.

I have been in contact with LLL last week but will give them another call today. They have such wonderful advice and after reading there website last night this seems to be a common problem with over supply of having too much foremilk. There advice is to feed off the same side for a few feeds in a row so I have started that today, doing the same side twice and then switching to the other side after two consecutive feeds on the one side. Will see if that works. I will try anything to not have to express, I am too lazy and busy for that

Right off for a nap, both of them are asleep and we had a up and down night last night for various reasons, Camryn spilling everywhere 3 times and then DH worrying about his scan toady so I need some rest! He had his scan today on his stomach to see if they could find the reason for the random pains he gets, so he was worried about that. They have checked every organ in his body and all is well apparently so who knows where to from here.

Hey Peachy - sorry to hear you're feeling a bit frustrated at the moment. I hope things pick up again for you soon. At least 100g is still a gain - did she grow in others ways (eg. lengthwise) too? Here's an interesting link about the foremilk/hindmilk thing- it's not as clear cut as previously thought. Hope it might reassure you. Ringing LLL might help too, they're good at listening and should be able to support you/give you suggestions.

MF - you looked fabulous in your pics - love that dress!

Great to hear you had a good weekend away MF! Certainly looks like it by the photos!

SH, well she said express or pump, so I could just hand express I guess. She's only talking like taking off 20mls or so before the feed and that is super easy for me to do. I could get that off in about 3 mins or even less. She said its only for a few weeks while I have this huge over supply then it should all settle down. She's had another client with exactly the same problem and by expressing a wee bit before each feed by 5 weeks her boobs were sorted and baby gaining good weight.

I guess I am just bummed (and lazy cause I don't want to express!) that my boobs still are not sorted, but I do have to remind myself (daily!) that she's only just over two weeks old. I feel like its been months that she has been in our little family!

I am going to make some of those lactation cookies and see if they make a difference too.

Hi Peachy, I think your MW might be right...but not sure about pumping before each feed? Maybe hand expressing?
The natural remedies like milk flow are good and I think there is another one that helps the quality of your milk (can't remember the name). Your chemist might be able to help there. Hope things settle for you soon.

Grrrrr (sorry this is a grumpy post)! Why can't my boobies play ball! Everything is going so perfectly, C is a little gem of a baby, so happy and content and letting me get a good nights sleep which is great! BUT my boobs are just not co-operating this time C lost 260gms in the first week (7% of her body weight so completely normal), then second week she gained 330gms and this week she only gained 100gms. I have so much milk it is quite stupid TBH, and C is a great little breast feeder so why is she not gaining weight. M/w has suggested that I pump for a few mins before feeding as she thinks I may be producing too much foremilk so she's not getting enough hindmilk to gain enough weight. I really don't want to stress about it and for all I have been through to get to this stage I REFUSE to give in. Man I hope my boobs sort themselves out!

I have increased my food intake and have started on complan drinks and nut bars to try and fatten up my milk. I am trying so hard not to stress about it and I do beleive if she wasn't getting enough food she would be screaming and starving hungry, but she's not and she drinks so much at every single feed, I carefully ensure that she is having good feeds particularly during the day. I am demand feeding which is mostly 3 hourly but in the evenings can drop down to every 1 1/2 to 2 hours which is absolutely fine by me.

Grrrrrrrrr (hopefully that will make me feel better!)

Anyone have any advice or theories?? L had super huge weight gains when b/f, so I just don't get it.

I hope JB bounces back quickly from his cold Nikki.

My girls are snotty too, and I got a call from dc today that A had a fever. They had given her pamol and by the time I got there she was fine. We had a nice day off in the sun though The girls are loving going into town on the train (me, not so much!) They can't get parts for the car until the 17th!!!!!!!

My best friend is visiting for the weekend - that's pretty exciting. Hope she likes the train too

I'm noticing a bit change in A with confidence etc too Bel - I took her into work after I picked them up today and she answered everyone's "what's your name etc" questions with a loud clear voice, and seemed really comfortable with lots of adult strangers. She was very keen to tell them all that she is 3 and 3/4's tomorrow

ETA - good to hear you are on the mend Peachy - very hard to be in that much pain (on top of the c/s!) and feel sooo sick with a new baby (and L!)

monster glad to hear your tummy bug was short lived!

A BIG huge thank you to SH for dropping over dinner for us yesterday! I love our thread for the lovely people I have met on here and the things everyone does for one another

AFM I am finally turning a corner with the breastfeeding. Last Friday I was ready to throw in the towel well and truely. Mastitis and severly cracked nipples are not fun at all! I am still on antibiotics, but am feeling loads better. I have been using nipple shields for the last few days to heal my nipples and yesterday I managed to get C on the right hand boob with out the shield and today we have ditched the left hand boob shield too! So huge progress, I am stoked! So glad I didn't throw in the towel in my little tanty last week cause I really do love breastfeeding when things go right

Other than that, everything is going great, C is a little gem, she is just so chilled out! Loving it very much! L has been 95% good, just the odd patch of bad behaviour which I am standing on pretty hard, but I understand things are so different for her. She really has grown up in the last two weeks, which is great! Yay for kindy being back this week too!

I'm so pleased kindy is back. Rex was very clingy after me being in Akld, and I was a little concerned he'd be clingy at kindy, but he was happy to go off and play Makes it difficult to spend any time at kindy with Rex as Jb is under his storm cover in his pram so he doesn't catch any bugs. He hates it!

Speaking of bugs...Poor Jb has a nasty cold So typical really. He's on ABs again, so hopefully they can do their thing.

Tried to have a relaxing girls weekend away, but came home feeling a bit low in the end. My sister has been a bit of twit lately and said some things to me that really wound me up last night - she is having trouble with her boyfriend of 8 years and whether she wants to stay with him... After all the support I have given her over the last month, she threw it back in my face last night and now I don't even want to talk to her. Pretty gutted.

But the kids missed me heaps, which was kinda cute. I talked to Amy on the phone this morning before coming home (after DH told me that she hadn;t said anyhting about missing me, but Luke had) and the first thing she asked was "when are you coming home mummy?" But then they both were sad when DH left after I got home - so they love us both at least!

Looking forward to getting back into the kindy rhythm this week, this has been first holidays that has really affected our routine. Luke is hanging out to get back to his friends and fun at kindy. I love the way he is so settled there, he has grown so much with confidence, language and self esteem since starting kindy. Its great!

Eeek Peachy! I hope you are one the mend. It sounds terrible! I had mastitis for about 2-3hrs with N, I can't imagine having it for days!! Funny to hear that cabbage leaves actually work!

Manz, Miss M is unbelievably sweet to give that wee girl her blankie!

I reversed the car into my BIL's gate last night! Sigh - it broke the rear light and smashed off heaps of the bumper, and dented part of the car. I can't believe how much damage it did given the insignificance of the crash. Not looking forward to getting us all to and from work and dc without the car. What a hassle... at least we are insured...

Wahoo - that is great news Nikki - so pleased for you and Jb.

Blair was rather funny yesterday - pulled rank on Daniel and told him that he needed to share his new toys, he's getting a little bossy every now and again, he also told a little girl she couldnt touch something in a shop the other day eeeekk.

Daniel enjoyed his birthday - seemed happy with hos presents and was very eager to get stuck into his cake. I think he will miss Blair when kindy goes back tomorrow. I finally caught up with the sunday episode on autism and Autism NZ. Interesting watch and one that made me feel very greatful that atm Daniel is (am I allowed to say it) no-where near as 'bad' as he could be. He has just started to try and drag me places that he wants me to be which from my point of view is good because while he cant tell me, he's showing me what he wants (which is a really nice relief) I'm doing ok, have some minor moments, but I guess thats to be expected. Right I better get a late breakfast into these boys - yup Blair is STILL in bed - i hate to think what he's going to be like in 10 yrs time

Thank you Sam and Manz for visiting, it was really lovely to see you both. Poppy is as cute as a button (and I got cuddles!!!) and Miss M is such a gem Manz, I can so understand why you are so proud. I bumped into Julia and her mum again, Julia's mum was so blown away that Miss M had given Julia her blankie - it was extremely thoughtful of her Sorry to hear you had a cold Kabe, it was have been lovely to catch up with you too and meet Miss A.

Oh poor you Peachy, how bl**dy awful. Pleased to hear you are feeling better.

Kabe, also pleased to hear Miss A is sleep better during the day. Hopefully in her case, sleep induces sleep will work for her night sleep too.

Thank you for all the well wishes. Its so good to be home. That was an extremely full on, stressful 3 days. Jb is now aware and remembers 'procedures', so he protested about EVERY procedure - even having his weight done Poor wee guy. His cath was also delayed on Thursday, we was meant to be first up and ended up being last up. He didn't go down for surgery until just after one. Thankfully he fell asleep on me before we had to go down to his op. He continued to sleep until I handed him over - almost too easy, but I was still a mess He did everything by the book this time!!! The doc used the word 'fantastic' twice while talking to me! His pulmonary artery (that they created) is looking fantastic! His pulmonary branches (which has always been a real concern) are looking fantastic! His pulmonary valve is doing its job and looking really good - they have said that Jb may not need his next open heart surgery for another 5 - 10 years!!!!!! Can you believe that!!!! From a heart point of view, we don't need to see his Paed for 6 months!!! All we need to do now is have regular echos and ECGs at Wgtn hospital until the time comes that he needs his next lot of surgery. I feel like a huge weight has been lifted, we are both so happy. We really couldn't have wished for better news Now we can relax and really enjoy our gorgeous wee family.

We had a lovely visit with Nikki & Jacob today. M shared her toys with the other kids nicely, and one little girl enjoyed playing with her blankie so much that M gave it to her!! Later on she said to me that blankie always makes her feel better, and the little sick girl needed it more than she did, made me so proud! She does have another one, so it's not a complete end to blankie, but now she no longer has a spare...Sorry we missed you & Poppy, Sam!!

I know one week already - eek it goes fast!! Well I can report that I am starting to feel better, the headache is easing and I have stopped shivering, yet sweating because of my temp. NEVER want to get this again - its worse than a c section pain wise! My boobs are still red hot and aching like crazy but atleast I can rest C on my shoulder now to burp her cause I couldn't even do that this morning. Isn't it funny that nature must know something is up as C has cluster fed all afternoon, obviously helping to clear the blocked ducts and its helping. I have also had cabbage leaves in my bra for a bit this arvo to reduce the engorgement, gosh they make your boobs feel great as crazy as it sounds.

Other than my mastitis, things are going really well thankfully. C is a very placid baby, much like L was, fingers crossed she stays cruisy!

Great to hear you have turned a corner with A's day sleeps kabe. Now lets hope she continues to now improve on her night time sleeping habits too!

Peachy, poor you!! I nearly got it when A went on a feeding strike & I totally freaked out. Hope you're starting to feel better. Can't believe that C is one week old already

Quick update on A. She's now sleeping in her moses basket for all her sleeps!!! At it's worst it took 90 mins of resettling, but now it takes between 3-20mins so much better. I feel like a new woman, now I'm not carrying her all day. Night sleeps have turned to custard, but I think she's going through a growth spurt and hopefully it'll improve again in a few days.

Nik, I hope that things are going well for you in Akld. Sorry I missed you, but I've had a col and didn't want to expose you to it.

Crap! Just spent half the day in A&E on a friggin drip! Have mastitis in both breasts and its really bad. I have vivid marks all over my boobs so they can monitor the infection. So 3-5 days of having a drip each day! Thought things were going to well! I was sweet last night, woke up this morning and felt absolute rubbish, stripped off for a shower and OMG I have bright red boobies!! Gosh it came on so suddenly and I am in so much friggin pain, it sucks!!

So anyway, onwards and upwards from here I hope

Our babies certainly are growing up quickly! I haven't been on in a couple of days, and all of a sudden Ana is 4 months, Poppy is teething and Aiofe is nearly a year old!!!

MM, hope everyone is getting better and all goes well with the home visit next week!

Peachy, sounds like you had a great experience this time, did you have her at Waitak?

Lol Sal, I'm enyoying that too! DH has been doing most of the cooking and running around after Miss M lately, he's been great!! However, today I'm doing the washing and housework, he's not quite THAT good!

My new job certainly is keeping me busy, but I'm enjoying it! Am still getting used to spending so much time on the computer tho!! I'm looking forward to spending the day with Mikayla tomorrow, I haven't had much quality time with her lately (the one downside to the new job!)

ETA: Kabe, Sam, are you going in to see Nikki tomorrow?

Wow, time is flying by! Can't believe you have a four month old already Kabe, not to mention Miss P teething MF! We're on the countdown to a first birthday here and it feels far too soon!
