Birthday party time again!   I'm going to use this cake recipe again!    I'm going to make two, slice the top off one, put chocolate ganache in the middle and all over the top. Hope nobody throws up from chocolate overload!

I made this for my niece and nephews christening last month.
I used a chocolate sauce recipe that I found on this forum to put as filling between 2 cakes.

2 tbsp of each of the following:
- Cocoa
- Butter
- Water
- Golden Syrup
- Sugar

Put in a saucepan, stir until blended, and simmer for 2+ minutes without stirring. The longer you leave it the fudgier it gets. Leave to cool and use on cake ( Or else pour over ice cream )

ETA: Thanks to whoever posted that sauce recipe in the chocolate sauce thread. I think I've added an extra kg since I found it as it makes ice cream too yummy to resist.

Yum made this for a morning tea this morning and it was the best. Cooked it at 160 in a fan forced oven for 55 mins. 22 cm spring form tin. It was a big hit and was so yummy. I don't know if the leftovers will last until DH gets home. It is quite runny and did drip thru the spring form bit of the tin so put a baking sheet underneath to catch the drips.

This recipe is a big hit here too. DF loves it. I love it because it's the first chocolate cake recipe that I've found that fits my 28cm springform tin and doesnt look like a frisbee

I just used this for DD's birthday cake and it was delicious.  I put a layer of jam on top before a plain butter cream icing.  Yummy!

Thank you thank you thank you, this recipe is totally what I have been looking for. I used it yesterday for my mums birthday cake and it was devine. I just have sort out the temp on my oven, the top and edges were cooked before the middle, no biggy, just means I get to practice by making more yum yum :)

Wasnt sure it would work as the mix was quite runny but it was divine.

...so...I made this cake...followed all directions and ingredients...so I thought last night.

..looked good...iced it, then in the morning tasted it...and thought...hmm...that's rather bitter...my friends ask, did you forget something...I insist I followed the recipe exactly. They asked about sugar, I was like...hmm, I don't remember sugar. So, I came on here, re-looked at the recipe...and what do you know, I forgot the 2 cups of sugar!!! Shame

Made this over the weekend, and it lasted all of 4 days!! DP liked it, I liked it too, and even managed to save a piece to share with Melnel when she came for a visit today

Will definitely be using this recipe for DD's birthday cake in a couple of months!

I baked the cake last night only. It was tasting so good. For some fun I added a drizzle of Manuka honey over it. The taste of honey and cake was so mind blowing. My little girl like it a lot. She completely eat the second helping. Manuka honey did add a lot of texture and flavor to it.
