Hi all,

I was just wondering is it safe to have intercourse at 11 weeks??

Or would you wait till the first trimester was over?

Did try once and it was quite uncomfortable.

Also is it safe to have an orgasm?? wouldnt it hurt the baby? or make chances of miscarriage more higher?

Sorry so personal but I gotta know,:)

Perfectly fine. The only time you should avoid sex during pregnancy is if you have bleeding or your midwife advises you not to :)

You might want to do it as much as possible while you still feel like it and can still manage it! Orgasm doesn't hurt or damage the baby, and in fact, the rush of endorphins you get flow through to the fetus also, so they get a feeling of well being too!

As far as I know Sex is safe thru out your pregnancy....Not too get too personal but Zaara is fine and is a healthy & happy baby! I had bleeding and that is the only we were told to avoid "it"

If you are worried ask your midwife!

As far as I know, the only time sex is NOT safe in pregnancy is if there is a risk of premature labour. There is something in semen that softens the cervix, but it seems to only have any definite effect right at the end of the third trimester - which is why sex is good (and often recommended) to bring on labour! Your man cannot hurt baby, no matter how much he tries, as the plug at the base of the cervix is in the way.

Part of being pregnant is that extra blood is flowing around our bodies. This can result in extra stimulation down there, so that a little touch/movement goes a long way! Try different positions, such as spooning or woman on top, where you've got more control over depth and contact.

Sorry if any of this is TMI...
I was 18-20 weeks with Kiya before I even found out I was pregnant, and had lots of fun right through that time without any negative effect on the pregnancy.

While pregnant with Josiah, I found out that an orgasm can sometimes be the best way to relax and get to sleep when you're feeling like you've had enough of everything!

I've seriously gone off sex in the last month or so. I don't know why - perhaps tiredness, but whatever it is I wish it would pass! It is exceedingly out of character for me, and I think J might be starting to take it personally.....

Yep Mrs Frantic - low sex drive is very common in pregnancy, particularly 1st and 3rd trimesters. Although for me I could take it or leave it right thru lol.

I couldn't be less interested if I tried! *lol* poor hubby...good thing he is totally understanding and even a tad weirded out by the idea quite honestly.

But yes as the others have said it is safe unless advised otherwise.

I didn't feel like while pregnant and still don't feel like it now, my partner complains but i just tell him to get lost or look after Xanda all day and then see if he still wants it at the end of the day. I bet you he wouldn't because he would be absolutely buggered. My midwife said it was ok to have sex all the way thru and that it would not harm bubs, and as for uncomfortable, try lube it makes it much better.

OK so my son is one and I can deffently say it is safe. I am now preggy with number 2 and my drive has never really returend poor hubby has suffered scince I was pregy with Alan. Lots of lube as the other ladies have said can be a great help in the pain I still find it a little uncomfortable, but not painful so that is ok. Just go with what you feel is best for you and your baby tho there are other ways to keep hubby happy if need be.

I thought that you should after your waters break. Is that true?   I'm sure by that stage it's too uncomfortable anyway but......?

dont know for sure but I wouldnt think that was a good idea because of infection. I know when my waters broke early I wasnt even allowed to leave the hospital because of infection.
