ooh nkap9 - could i get the honey chicken one off you?
Lisa that garlic and herb sauce sounds nice might go and have a look for some.
I really want to use my crockpot more saves me so much time at night - but seen as everyone (including me) are so fussy in our house it makes it really hard.
Need quite plain recipes with not a lot of veges (because i dont eat them!) stuff i can add veges too later - would love to know how to roast meat in my slow cooker

Lillis, go to the warehouse, Allyson Gofton has 2 crockpot recipe books for about $22 each. They were $16 but that special ran out yesterday..
Anyways, I was flicking through it instore yesterday, and most of the chicken recipes say the same thing, put the whole chicken in with no added liquid (thawed) for 8-9 hours on low
We have the same problem... too many fusspots.. one doesnt ike meat with bones, or much veges... and the other doesnt like anything to do with pasta! I usually do basic stews with chops or chopped up chuck steak... oh and cans of soup are a GREAT recipe/sauce base as they are thick, have lots of flavour, and with the meat juices added while it cooks, thins out to an almost perfect consistency.

Mel, I don't think I've ever heard of a guy who doesn't like lamb shanks!
The apricot chicken didn't happen as no apricots in the house.. duh!
So have chicken, leeks, kumara, onion and garlic with some spicy mango chutney and a bit of stock. Keeping fingers crossed!

I know, like I said.. Idiot
I love them so have decided next time I see them on special I am going to get some and Jake and I will have lamb shanks and he can have sausages!
I use condensed soup as bases too, cream of mushroom makes a very nice creamy chicken casserole

Ooh must try the condensed soup as casserole base, sounds yum.
Have chicken soup in the crockpot today, with chicken bones etc left over from last night's roast. Still sick, so hoping the chicken soup does the trick!

Thought I'd post this recipe. It calls for neck chops, but I used Shoulder chops. It is so yummy... you could basically put any veges in that you liked I didn't worry about the herbs.
Cook this stew in a slow cooker. Combine the ingredients as above and cook on HIGH for 4 to 5 hours.
Irish Stew
Ingredients (serves 6)
* 1.25kg lamb neck chops, trimmed
* 1/2 cup plain flour
* 3 brown onions, chopped
* 1kg sebago potatoes, peeled, sliced
* 2 carrots, peeled, thinly sliced into rounds
* 2 tablespoons tomato paste
* 3 cups boiling water
* 3 beef stock cubes, crumbled
* 1 cup flat-leaf parsley leaves, chopped
* 1/4 cup mint leaves, chopped, to serve
Method
Cut chops in half. Place flour in a plastic bag and season with salt and pepper. Place chops in bag and shake well to coat. Transfer chops to a plate. Reserve flour.
Place onions, potatoes and carrots in an ovenproof dish. Top with half the chops. Repeat layers with remaining onions, potatoes, carrots and chops.
Whisk reserved flour, tomato paste and 2 tablespoons cold water in a large jug until well combined. Slowly add boiling water, whisking constantly. Add stock cubes and parsley. Stir to dissolve stock cubes.
Pour flour mixture over chops. Cover and cook for 4 hours or until meat tender and sauce thickened. Sprinkle with mint and serve.

Liz, Mum did a Pumpkin Soup recently in the CP. I'll see if I can get her recipe for you.
I don't know of this famous stew that you speak of??? Is there a recipe somewhere?

I did leek and potato soup at the weekend too!
Today I have potatoes, chicken thigh cutlets, carrots and chicken stock. I just can't remember if I switched it on at the wall before I left for work
