Topic: Conflict of Interest Posted: 01 August 2008 at 3:56pm |
I am at the moment applying for jobs at camp. Waiouru is a very small community (it is mostly military personal and their families) so jobs don't come around very often here.
Last night I applied for a position in a section at camp, I don't hold out great hope for that position as I haven't done accounts in a LONG LONG time, but it is something that I can do if I was retaught it.
But there is a straight admin job that was advertised yesterday, that I can do involving files, booking, typing etc. Anyway this is where the conflict of interest comes in.
The position is at the Officer Cadet School where Nigel is currently, which means that I would be dealing with a lot of info and some of it will be to do with him. The lady at HR (when I spoke to her) said it wouldn't be a problem applying for the position so long as I said right from the beginning that my husband is currently a cadet there (a bit hard to not hid it as our last name isn't that common), and that he is only going to be there for another 4 months and then finished.
Would you apply for the position??

Yeah, definitely.
If you've asked and been told to be up front, then I don't think there is anything wrong with applying.
ETA: GOOD LUCK!

I'd apply for it, worst that can happen is that they might say that the conflict means you won't get it. Still worth a shot!
Just be honest, and see what happens, you might get a job out of it.
Good luck!

Go for it Becks, with the amount of wives working in and around camp, this must come up regularly. Especially in Wairouru where there isn't many other places to work.
