Hi girls...

Its been a while since i have been here but now about to embark on ivf number 4 - eeeek...
DH had TESA procedure done recently and looks like they have 5 x tubes on ice (they had to sacrifice the 6th one to check if swimmers survived the thaw ) They tell me that they may only need 2 of the 5 tubes for our next cycle... so thats good i hope??
We will be paying for this (our 2nd private cycle) and picking up drugs etc tomorrow. Will be on the short flare cycle again this time..

Im feeling bit numb and actually until now have not really thought much about it, but hey once those injections start yep will be thinking bout this 24/7...

Fingers crossed this time!!! we are soooo praying for this to work as we are now doing something different with the tesa sperm..

Has anyone else had positive results from TESA sperm?? Love to hear comments !!

Hi all, I havent shown my face in here for ages but we also have male factor issues, We tried ont round of IVF with ICSI, I responded really well but as soon as DF boys were added to the mix the stats went right down, from 18eggs at collection to only 1 being put back. Sadly that didnt work and after much sole searching we decided to use a doner, we were lucky and had a friend offer. I am SO pleased that we decided to take that option as we are now the proud parents of a happy and healthy 11 month old, and we are getting ready to do it all again! It wasnt an easy thing to decide to do but we are so pleased that we did. I dont think DF could love our boy any more than he does. He is his dad and DS is such a Daddys boy. It was the best thing we ever decided to do and cant wait to do it again for #2!
NEN10- DF loves to tell everyone that I was impregnated by a woman! It was after a very non romantic breakfast and a trip to the classic car auction to kill time and take our minds off what lay ahead!!!!

NEN10 - sending lots of sticky vibes your way hun and look forward to hearing of that well deserved BFP    I know what you mean about the setting for the whole conceiving, not the most romantic eve, but one that you will probably never forget - teehee!! xxxx

mtjt - nice to see you still around, I remember you from the IVF thread   Sounds like you have come along in leaps and bounds with this TESA procedure - this has just got to work, I have a good feeling about it love.  Once the injections start, you'll be at your ET before you know it - how exciting.  It has been such a long journey for the two of you, and I really feel for you both - but this is something new, which you have tackled with vigour - so admirable xx  I look forward to following your progress and really hope to see you in the babies due after IVF thread very soon,  Afraid I know nothing about TESA sperm, just to recap, my DH has motility issues and we have had our first cycle of IVF with ICSI and very fortunate for us, it worked.  I am now 20 wks pregnant.  I am also close to your age mtjt, being 37.  Take care of yourself and look forward to hearing from you again soon. xxxxx

Caronz - what a lovely success story, it's always an inspiration for these lovely ladies on this forum and also shows them, that even if they fail to get pregnant with their DH's sperm, there is always an alternative of a donor.  You have a little son - how marvellous, makes it all feel worth it when you get a little bundle of joy at the end doesn't it . I'm sure that you're little boy and DH will have as close a bond as any biological parent as it's more about the upbringing and the love that you can bring to your child, which it seems you both have an abundance of.   I wish you every luck on your next IVF cycle, and look forward to hearing about your next BFP very soon.  Take care xxxxx

Hello again to you all.

Yep Snoopy i too remember you!! Well we picked up our drugs and paid for these - ouch
Start the injections monday and EC week will be sometime around week fo 7 june.. so not long now..
We are doing something different so am sooooo hoping that the TESA sperm (sperm taken out of testis) will be much better quality and with no dna frag issues so will get us good 8 cell embies and a BFP!!!

Caronnz - congrats on your little boy and good luck with bub #2. Its still amazing that you can experience a pregnancy and you and DH can still experience the joy of a new baby in your arms (even though technically donors sperm), Is your friend in your babys life at all?
The reason im a bit curious is that the "donor" sperm question has been suggested to us to maybe think about. (much to my despair) as this is an option if we can get preggers with DH sperm after our last try.. The donor issue is another subject completely and probably requires a whole lot of research and thought...
Still im thrilled for you and good luck!!

Hi all- mtjt and caronnz- just touching base- it was great to read Caronnz's post as we are about to do our 3rd private cycle with donor.

You are right mtjt- its such a hard decision and it may have been a bit easier for us as DH was in favour of it. He has 3 children already so doesnt have that desire for it to be his own child- and he knows this is my/our dream together- our specialist said we had >50% dna frag, and as we had spent so much $$$$ we knew that this was the best option for us. But you are right- you HAVE to be ready for it.

I so hope that this cycle is the one for you and that you get a BFP. We won't be far off each other.
IVF #1 May 09- BFP then missed miscarriage at 8 weeks
TER Oct 09 BFN
IVF#2 Dec 09 BFN (1 emby only)
IVF #3 Donor- June 10 BFN (1 emby only!)
IVF #4 Donor- Nov 26th- 2 embies on board!

I hope that I can give you all a little bit of hope with my story. It really is the most wonderful thing.
mtjt- The doner and his family(wife+kids) were good friends before and nothing has changed. We also wondered about how it would change our friend ship but it hasnt at all. They are still good friends, they dont intrude, they dont over step the mark, but they are there if we need them and we still see them about the same amount as we did. They gave us an amazing gift we have no idea how we could ever thank them. I guess the best way we can thank them is to be the best parents we can be.
We will be going back to the clinic in the next few months so I might join back in on these threads, Ill keep you all posted.

NEN10, DP went through that when we got our test results too... told me he was 'useless' and I should just leave him and find someone else since he couldnt give me the child we wanted so much...

Oooh, sounds very promising! My bfp with Jae was on 13DPO (AF usually due 12DPO in the morning)and was SO faint, it wouldnt even show on a photo, but the next morning was very clear (and very fast!) bfp...BT on 15DPO showed an hcg level of 220 Good luck with your blood test, but I reckon another HPT tomorrow or Monday morning will have your proof

Hello to you all

Yeah i know what you mean about DH giving you the "outclause". My DH said he would be upset but would understand if i left him... Well, gotta be honest the thought did cross my mind when going thru testing times as we are now but i married him and have made that commitment and with his support i know we can work thru this..

You know what we have NOT given up and we are in the middle of our 4th cycle and this time using DH Testicular sperm in hope that we do get BFP!!!

Dunno why but i am in the process of injections and feel quite relaxed about this... is it because "here we go again" or is it because finally we are trying something different with DH Tesa sperm?? or what??

We know what we are in for and i guess the 2ww is probably the longest hardest wait in your life!!!

good luck to us all!!

Hi girls :)

Just watched TV1 Sunday with JJ and Doms ivf journey.. and it was their 4th round they just completed with a bfn

Tears were rolling down my face watching this as we are also in the middle of our 4th cycle... gosh its just soooo like what we are going thru with the injections, hormonal ups and downs, the egg collection and the dreaded 2ww... etc etc...

Im feeling bloated and i can start to feel my ovaries as the Gonal is working... my first BT tomorrow so that will be interesting.

My DH had the same procedure as Dom whereby they take Sperm directly from Testis. This is something new for us and we have not done this TESA before so fingers crossed that this time it may work... its hard to get too excited as i know what its like to be let down..

Good luck to us all!!

Hi everyone - what a great find! Hope it's still active .

My DH and I have been trying for 6 1/2 years now. Initially it was both us with bits not working as they should. There's enough of DH's boys (between 10-15 million so thats good but not great) - the problem is they are seriously misguided and not the prettiest of specimens. I was diagnosed with PCOS probably due to my weight. But after gastric bypass surgery about 18 months ago I now seem to be all in working order, and very regular.

We've been on the Akld waiting list for IVF/ICSI since Sept 09 and we just had our orientation at the end of May. So we are booked in at F/Plus for August. I did a quick calculation (coz I just can't help myself) and I should be on Day 1 on Aug 1!

Nen10 - how are you doing? Any news for us?

Hi everyone,

BabydollNZ - i agree this has been a great find.

Nen10 - I also got the out clause.

At the end of the day its what you make of it, its good to hear that alot of your partners use menevit.

We have been put on the waiting list at hamilton FA.

hopefully the wait won't be too long.

Good luck to all of you

Hello to you all

Thought i better update you - well 4th cycle was another bfn :((( had about 6 eggs but none ended up decent embies Absolutely gutted!

Since then i have been searching for answers and seems that maybe we may go get some advice from a Naturopath this time and get onto some decent herbs/supplelements prior to our next cycle due in October. These supplements will be good for us both and particularly DH as he has sperm antibodies and DNA frag issues. (thats why our problems).. when i spoke to the naturapath on the phone she was telling me that more and more men are having issues in fertility and also the dna issues... She seemed to know about this problem and says she recommends a consultation and then she can put us on a course of herbs etc - she recommends at least 3 mths of this prior to trying to concieve... Who knows we will try anything!!

I had a post on another forum by a girl who said they went on naturopath herbs/supplements and within 3 mths got preggers naturally!! Her DH had bad sperm dna damage... so thats very encouraging isnt it..

Thats my quick update... any comments most welcome :)

mtjt - sorry about your BFN hun - I know how much you were balancing on this one you poor love.  These things never get easier do they!  I am sooo glad you are going down the naturopathic path, you need to remain positive and just go through all the options available to you.  As the others have said, it's worth a try.  Sending bucket loads of success to you and I look forward to hearing from you in the future when you return to try again.  Take care xxxx

thanks Nen10, Rachb and Snoopy for your kind words..

Gosh this is hard isnt it! ggrhhh!

Anyway as im back on the vinos - im really back to normal now so not really thinking about it like i was when going thru the cycle.

We have our review appointment with FA end of July to discuss what went wrong and were to from here so that will be interesting.

DH and i plan to go to AKL to see a naturapath very soon to discuss what we should do as i know they recommend at least 3 mths of preconception care and hopefully this may improve our situation.

At least we are not alone - all you girls here have the same/similar issues with male infertility and its becoming more and more common! scary huh!

All the best to you all xoxox

mtjt, sorry to see yet another cycle has left you with nothing... I cant imagine how hard it must be to go through cycle after cycle, with nothing for all your effort at the end...

As for us... Horny goat weed strikes again (with a bit of clomid thrown in for me ) and it looks like our family will grow by 2 feet come march... it is really early days (hell, I'm not even officially supposed to know given I am 11DPO!) so there is the fear of miscarrying since its happened to us twice before... but we will cross that bridge if and when we need to... for now I am just thrilled that it didnt take nearly as long to concieve this time!

Hi everyone, I bit the bullet and called FA yesterday, we are going to see Dr next thurs and hopefully we can start DI again soon. I dont know if I am ready to get back on this rollercoaster but I am ready to have another baby and since mother nature isnt helping out here I think we will have to leave it to the Dr's to do it. There is the usual raft of emotions running through my head but Im trying not to think about it too much. Just hoping we cant start again soon as the waiting really sucks.
