Hi all. Not sure if anyone is still around from when I was here back in the day but I'm back again! I have an incredible 2 year old who was an absolute miracle and we're trying to give her a sibling. We were "not preventing" for several months to avoid getting too stressed about it but I'm now at the point of being really worried that we won't be able to give her a sibling at all. We are properly TTC now and have been for a few months. Had a very strange month a in May where I had three periods within a month, followed by one very long cycle, I did test and I don't think there was a miscarriage in there but it's possible. DH telling me not to stress and I'm going, um, yes! I'm old now! Anyway that's the update from me, hi to everyone!

Hello!

Yay very exciting that you're at the top of the list Star!! Have you heard whether Samoa will delay you yet? Hopefully it doesn't, they've had zika there forever, it only became an issue because it got into South America where it hadn't been previously. But it's endemic in Samoa...

Definitely counting down. I'm on CD4, at the end of next cycle I'll start my progynova, so next cycle will be the start of it technically which is exciting. Definitely won't regret it ever, except for all those fleeting delightful child moments when you want to return them! But no, unconditional love and I don't really care how we got there!

Hi epictraveller! I wasn't around, but welcome back! Though, not so welcome back as sorry to hear it hasn't been a simple miracle this time around!

Hi epictraveller, I'm sorry to hear you're not having success so far this time. Are you going to look at further treatment or continue to try on your own?

Welcome back Epic, sorry to hear that second miracle hasn’t come your way yet. Cycles are strange things... but bleeding 3 times in a cycle sure seems a bit full on! Will you get in touch with your clinic to discuss where to next? I know you had a really long journey to get #1, do you think you’ll go to IVF again this time?

We were advised there is an 8 week quarantine for women and 3 months for men after travelling to a Zika risk destination. So we could do ivf in December but given that’s a pretty high stress time we’ve pushed it out to January. My specialist has recommended another laparoscopy so we will see if we can get that done in the next couple of months.

Thanks everyone. Star if I'm reading right, you are going to Samoa? There is no Zika there now so you should be safe? Or does the quarantine apply because it was there at all?

I don't think I could go through IVF again to be honest. I know we would have to pay this time around and going through three previously in a row with no luck just makes me feel it doesn't work for me (I wasn't a great responder). So we will try naturally for a bit longer before we see the specialists. Just so badly hoping we don't need to see them.

I think Zika is still there but it’s endemic so overall pretty low risk. They just became super aware of it after it entered South America because it became clearer the effects that it can have on pregnant women. Places like the islands, Bali, Northern Australia, Thailand etc. have had zika for years and years and years.

Epictraveller - crossing everything for you that your wee miracle happens!!

Nice to see some activity around here again as well!!

According to FA, Samoa (and most of the pacific islands) are on the list of Zika risk destinations 🙄
We were given the option to take a test when we got home but with a caveat that the test is not 100% accurate so it would be at our own risk... I guess we just weren’t prepared to take that risk.

I’m actually quite excited knowing my egg collection will be in Jan and DH, DD and I are planning to take an epic holiday travelling NZ Jan-Apr, I feel like all that R&R has the potential to lead to something great 😀 Meanwhile from now til Xmas I’m busy AF trying to get newbies at work trained up to handle things while I go away! Oh and maybe getting a laparoscopy...

Hope you’re all having a good week ❤️

Hey Miswe, that’s exciting! How are the drugs treating you so far? What is your expected week for egg collection?

We've welcomed our second daughter (and last FET) into our family and are just smitten.

Congrats ADN! That’s very exciting! Hope newborn days are treating you well.

Egg collection will be around mid next week, had my first scan yesterday and they said was looking good, though early days still. Surprisingly the drugs have been fine. A bit bloated, night sweats which settled and seemed to be more from the progynova, otherwise fine. So that’s a bonus!

Congrats ADN, that’s fantastic news. Enjoy the newborn snuggles - I hope she’s doing well.

Good to hear the drugs aren’t knocking you round too much Miswe. I hope you’re growing a whole bunch of good eggies!

Had my second scan today, looks like I’ve responded a bit too well (surprising given my low AMH!) trigger tomorrow but with buserelin to avoid OHSS. Which means anything we get will have to be frozen. Which was good and super disappointing news to hear. Good that I’ll hopefully have a few successful embryos, but super disappointing to hear it means more delays, and I imagine more money. I’ve had great nurses all along at FA but the one today was pretty well just like ok, so we have to trigger with buserelin so we’ll have to freeze everything and that was about it. I was blindsided so just sort of stunned mullet sat there and left asking no questions... so I have no idea when I’ll be able to do the FET cycle if we get to that and what this will look like $$$

Life is hard when you’re a toddler ADN!! Hope it settles quickly xx

Hey Miswe, that’s both exciting and frustrating huh. I haven’t been in that situation myself but I imagine they will let you do a FET next month... and theoretically they should have budgeted to do an embryo transfer within your cycle so I would think it wouldn’t cost any more to do it the next cycle instead...??? I could be wrong though... someone else here will know!

Oh super frustrating Miswe. There's maybe an extra cost for medication if you're doing a medicated FET instead of a natural cycle FET but that would be minimal (e.g. $15 for a script of Progynova) and hopefully no extra charge for monitoring of lining. Sucks that the nurse didn't give you all the details! Hope all goes well for the retrieval and fertilisation.
