I found out at a dating scan at almost 12 weeks. I only had the scan because my midwife pushed them to squeeze me in for an appointment to be sure of my dates as my previous 2 babies had gone nearly 2 weeks overdue. I was there with my 4 year old. I burst into tears, he looked at me oddly and said 'I knew there were two, didn't you?' I just handed my husband the scan pictures that night when he got home form work. He looked at the single baby shots, then asked 'what's this?' when he saw the two together. I said 'two babies' he just repeated this over and over working through disbelief, panic, amazement, excitement - he worked through a weeks worth of my emotions in about 30 seconds!

had dating scan.hubby said from the day we found out that its twins.(twins in my family), but i keep saying no way. at the scan the lady showed us the baby and said "nice heartbeat ill do the measurements now". DH said are you sure there is only one? scan lady said yeah but ill have another look, Oh look at that twin a was hidding behind twin b. DH was beaming from ear to ear while i was to shock to say anything. he then afterwards went straight to the car dealer and bought a 7 seater....

I went to the 12 week scan. DP was late as he was coming to the appointment from work specially. I went in by myself leaving the receptionist with instructions to send DP in straight away on his arrival. So the scan lady got started and then said pretty much straight away 'I can see twins'. My reaction was 'are you kidding' and I also felt instantly very excited and giddy. It was a shock, but a positive one. Very shortly after I had found out DP arrived. I was just smiling and couldn' t say anything so the scan lady told him we were having twins. We were just sitting there squeezing our hands for the rest of the scan. It was a feeling of disbelief that we could be so lucky, like having won the lotto. And for days I kept repeating to myself and to DP 'Two babies, we are having TWO babies!''. Luckily because we only found out at 12 weeks so we didn't have to wait for ages before we felt it was safe to tell relatives.
Mum to 3 girls: identical twins and with a 3 year gap another girl.

We found out at 6 weeks. We were going in for an early scan as we had a mc a couple months before at 6 weeks so were keen to see that this one was viable. It was clear from the start there were two, all the lady said was "do you see what im seeing?"... I was very sick and had massive HCG levels so we had mentioned the idea of twins leading up to the scan, but never gave it much thought as its not in either family.

So my husband and I just laughed for a bit then went quiet. My husband came to terms with it faster then I did, dont think im there yet, but being so very sick does tend to take the shine off things :)
