Have a look for someone that says they can take passport photos up to standard. We have a place here in Palmy that say they can. If you can hold out a bit longer I would. ------------- I was a puree feeder, forward facing, cot sleeping, pram pushing kind of Mum... and my kids survived! |

| Hi Mikaela, your local photo store will be able to do them, but be very, very careful as the standards are quite strict. We had passport photos rejected several times for various reasons (glare off baby's bald head, shadows behind them, not looking at the camera, mouth open, etc etc etc). And give yourself extra time in case you have to get the photos reshot -- you don't want to get stuck needing to rush and get an emergency passport! |

if you get it sent away this week and put what date you are leaving you should get it in time fionaS. I htink they say 10 working days but I 'always' give extra incase they send it back for some reason. ------------- Ann

| Hi FionaS, this is a tough one. When we went to America last year, we left Emma Rose's passport quite late, and it the application was sent back to us with the photos rejected only three days before we were to leave. We had to go into town to the passport office and pay heaps extra for the rushed service. Your best bet if you are worried about the time frame is to physically take the application form into the office in downtown Auckland, get them to approve the photos (and if they disapprove them, you can get them retaken nearby and take them back), and then submit the application there. Passport applications get sent to Wellington and if your photos are rejected, it will come back from Wellington, and you will have to resend it there yourself -- all that time in the post can make a difference. And taking a half day to go into town and submit the application is significantly less hassle than having to get a rushed passport and pay heaps extra! |

I agree with Katherine! We've had 2 lots of pics rejected so far, have just sent off the 3rd, for Benjy's passport.
We leave at the beginning of October and we're getting a little panicked about getting it done in time (and having to pay an extra $150) if these next ones aren't acceptable. They are very, very particular about them meeting the standards. My advice is to take baby at a time when they are awake. Take someone they are familiar with along to wave at them from behind the photographer to get them looking the right way. Wear something the same colour as your baby's outfit so if the corner of your sleeve is in the shot it isn't obvious enough to write off the picture. (Happened to us) Fiona, a good trick the lady doing ours had was to give bubs a tictac (or similar) to suck on while they took the photos. It worked a treat for keeping his mouth closed!
