The job at Meredith Connell was filled in-house (a friend of someone who works there) before it was even advertised. I just got the call from the woman I was dealing with.
On the plus side, they have offered me the option on more or less the same job in their city office, but I've declined on the basis that with DH working night shift, I don't want a job in the city - our evenings are really important. Not when I have other options.
I've got a CV in with Brookfields for a family law job which they seem to be moving on, and I'm considering ... I'll keep you posted! The salary is good, but, of course, money isn't everything.

Family law can be pretty stressful, will you be doing legal aid (ugh)? and what was your old law job in (field)?

Yes, there is legal aid. I've never done that before ...
My old job was mostly commercial, with some property - I did property occasionally, just to keep my hand in, and tried to avoid trusts and wills wherever possible - my strength was in commercial contracts.
I really wanted a chance at the MC job ... and I feel a bit pathetic going back to my old job, but I know I'll get support there for my IVF, and honestly, if I'm going to go back into the same field (as in, not go for the Brookfields thing), I may as well go back where I already have client relationships.
Plus, from my old job, I'd be able to do some work from home, which is a bonus.
Ah, crap. I'm talking myself out of the Brookfields job. Grrr me!

Well it would be an interesting change. See what happens, if they turn you down it is good to know you have a backup.
