have decided that i may invest in some cloth nappies. read that if you have two kids, you spend about 2-3000 dollars per year!!! that's a lot of lattes I could be drinking, so want some trial packs. those things are pretty pricey too!! So may just order from trademe, anyway, i'd be interested in who uses what and the age of the kids in them.

I used weenies, as they were all I know about. I found them good, but there are better options out there now. For night use I now have a Joely Pocket with which I use a chopped up kathmandu camp towel - brought half price and worked out cheaper than "proper" microfibre inserts . Am about to attempt to make some covers myself , hopefully they will work out ok

Ok the vote thingy didnt work for me...
This is what we use...
Fuzzibunz - stuffed with flats rather than the fuzzibunz inserts
Snazzipants fitteds, with Bummis super whisper wraps or bummis super whisper pants
So those are the only "brand" nappies we have... the others are ones I have made or a friend has made - both pocket style and fitted style.
A homemade pocket
A homemade Fold Over Elastic pocket
A homemade side-velcro fitted
Some photos and info about Bummis covers on the

There's a good website to get material: http://www.greenbeans.co.nz - www.greenbeans.co.nz
Has patterns you can download for free. I haven't tried yet, but have just ordered a diy pack to try it all out. It works out quite a bit cheaper... for $26 you get all the bits and bobs to make 3-4 nappies.

For covers or pockets, PUL or Procare for the outer. Or 2 layers of polarfleece or 1 layer polarfleece & 1 layer nylon.
Flannelette/towelling/microfibre/sherpa/hemp for absorbancy.
Microfleece against bubs skin for stay-dry.
Highly recommend http://www.greenbeans.co.nz - Greenbeans for all your nappy fabrics!
Patterns are on the nappy network site, under the DIY page http://www.thenappynetwork.org.nz - The Nappy Network
One I finished today - a PUL side-snap pocket (same pattern as the blue velcro fitted (above)):
