To my child
Since being your mum I have learnt ..... From your birth Ive learnt that I can go through more physical pain than I ever thought Id be able to endure...and be so happy with the outcome that if the same outcome was guaranteed Id do it again in a heartbeat That as important as makeup has been to me my whole life, needing to get cream for my newborn babies bottom overrides any need to put on foundation or lipstick When you were a toddler I learnt that stairs and footpaths can be very dangerous, and that children are QUICK!!! Ive learnt that for you I can stand up to people, even ones ive been intimidated by all my life Ive learnt that I understand completley when someone says they would happily lie down and die for their child Ive learnt that no matter how tired I am, when my girl needs me i can summon endless energy Ive learnt that its okay to say sorry when mummys been in the wrong Ive learnt that i no longer fear death for myself but rather the thought of you being taken away from me too early is enough to give me nightmares for weeks Ive learnt that no matter how much i love you one day I'll have to let you find your own path to follow and you might leave for awhile,and ive learnt that as much as i hate the idea for you I will wave you off on your journey....and then break down when your out of view Ive learnt what unconditional love is, that there is nothing I wouldnt do to make your life the happiest it could be, and that I would do anything in my power to protect you from any pain and heartbreak, would climb any mountain for you, and put myself through unimaginable pain,if it means keeping you safe. wow, all these things youve taught me and your only 5, thankyou for being my best teacher my child, I cant wait to see what else you'll teach me as you grow |
