Read this about Katie Holmes and Tom Cruise and had to share.

"In other reports, when it comes time for the actress to give birth in several months, it has been suggested that Holmes will attempt a silent labor in keeping with Scientology tradition.

The practice encourages mothers to be to forgo painkillers and to refrain from screaming or even talking as they bring their children into the world. Scientologists believe that the silence reduces trauma during birth and prevents irrational fears later in life."

I think I might forgo the scientology labour ideas!!!

pffft - ok... i seriously doubt that many women would have been able to follow that, lol, I did hear the same thing the other day - maybe she'll have a c-section.. and get knocked out - that way she won't be ABLE to speak.

yeah man. They say that it should be quiet or somthing for the first week after the baby is born. But the thing is is that babies like noise. The calm when you put them to your heart or shh in their ear. They are so used to the noise of the womb. Immaculate conception if you ask me too.

yep it is said that u can not talkto your baby for the first week/month(cant remember which one tho).BIG PFFFFTTTTTT from me.I cant believe all them actors and singers who fall for those groups ie Kabballah and scientology where they "donate" a portion of their earnings!!!!!!!

sorry if i am going to offend anyone with this next vent but............ the destiny church IMO is a load of crock!!! is along the lines of scientology whereas u give all or some of ur earnings to them as a donation and the head honcho dude has a million dollar house,he and his wife both have reeeeaaaallllllllyyyyyyyy flash expensive cars and r basically ripping their followers of by living a life of luxury with wot i assume is the donation money!!!grrrrrrr makes me so mad (can u tell hehehe),how can people be sooooooooo stupid/gullible.

Xandersmum I am in no way connected to or support destiny church, but I do go to a church myself. The leader of destiny church come's from a rather wealthy family and I think your comments are a little harsh how are you to know his house was not part of an inhertence. The idea of giving part of your income (to any church) is to help keep a church running as it cost's dollar's to pay for the
building power etc. People a encoraged(not forced) to pay an amount they are comfortable to give to help run the church. That is how it work's in my church.

ok i may have been a lil judgemental as i am not a church goer.

The stories i have heard may have been false as to y he has such an expensive house etc etc.I no that u do give money to help keep the churches alive.

The leader of DC to me just looks shady.I dont know wot it is but its one of those things u cant quite explain.

i like the idea of being encouraged to donate as much money as you can.....but sometimes there is a percentage you have to pay? Not sure if I'm right or not about it???

Posted By: AlyAyde
Date Posted: 16 October 2005 at 7:54am
yeah there is a name for it (which i cant remember). And its 10percent of your income, but i think then its voluntary. Not that im a churchgoer myself. But friends of mine that belong to different churches benefit quite alot from the family type atmosphere and support they offer them

ewww back to scientology
I had a friend who was involved with scientology but luckily got out before she spent anymore than the $20,000 she had already spent. she had put $9,000 or something towards a "cruise" where the scientology leaders all enjoy a trip of luxury while those who pay to go on this cruise spend the whole time scrubbing decks and working their asses off... all to appease those higher up the ladder.
freaks me out hearing her stories aye... how brainwashed she was. operation clambake (the scientology expose site) tells you how freaky the whole thing is.
can't believe the celebs buy into it!!!

I heard she is a Catholic and yes she is going to change to Scientology...hmmm

My hubby and I are from different religion and I would never convert. I am not very religious but I can’t just start believing some thing else over night.....

I am not a Christian but I don’t like that dude from DC....I can’t explain it either...I just don’t like him.

I'm not a fan of 'cult' or 'sect' type organisations. Christianity, Hinduism, Islam etc are respected and properly organised. I'm not religious myself, but find things like Scientology, Kabbalah etc to be faddish and too cool for school.

I'm Catholic, although only semi-practising.

But I do agree (and this is just my personal opinion, no offence intended) that Destiny church is little more than a cult. I found it difficult to stay open minded after their little Nazi-style Civil Union protest, but I tried, and I did quite a bit of research

I read a very interesting article written by a senior minister in the American Baptist community who was invited to come out here and spend some time with the Destiny community and write about them (at their request).

The article was less than favourable, which is interesting considering that the Baptists themselves have some pretty strong beliefs and practises that have in the past been controversial.

I think (personal opinion) that religion is a guide to life and was never meant to be taken to extreme. I hate any kind of cult and organization which uses religion to promote violence.

I am Muslim by birth but never pray and do not agree with allot but also know that Islam does not promote killing of innocent people. Koran actually says that if you take innocent life you go straight to hell...no two ways about it! So totally disagree with all the nut cases out there.....My mum was a Roman Catholic but again never practiced it. I married a Hindu....gosh my kids will be really confused!!

My main aim is to teach my kids right and wrong, and to be a good human being….what religion they wish to follow (if any) will be entirely up to them.

I agree Roksana, it is unfortunate that the actions of a radical few have led to the mass-persecution of Muslims as a whole, when the majority of Muslims actually condemn what these radical few are doing.

Honestly Emma....every time I see all these bombings and violence I just get sooooo angry. my Maiden surname was Islam and after 9/11 I was looked at funny...once a teller at a bank asked me how does it feel? I was sooo mad...I asked her what the hell she meant by that? I told her oh yah every morning when I get up I strap bombs across my chest so that I can blow people up. She was quite embarrased but I was just plain MAD!

Every religion in the world have their cults and radical followers and they are all giving normal people like us a bad name. I some times think we should get them all together and shoot them!!

Agreed. It is no different to the IRA bombings which have been going on for years, although for some reason the IRA are seen (by some) as heroes and loyalists when if fact they are just straight out terrorists.
It sickens me. The London bombings occured just around the corner from where we stayed when we were there last year, and it's just too close to home. And I was in Sydney a couple of weeks ago when the second Bali bombings happened, so as you can imagine the Australians are all up in arms about that.

I read a really interesting book tho called "Another Country" which is a series of poems, stories and plays written by detainees in Australian Refugee Detention camps (mostly Afghan, Iraqi, Iranian people). The way they are treated there is disgusting, especially considering that most of them left their own countries to try and escape from the radicals and fundamentalists, and that they are simply looking for a peaceful life for them and their kids. I actually felt physically sick at the way the Australian authorities treat them.

Man I can ramble.... can you tell I am missing the lively discussions we used to have at uni...

I am like that too Emma...I can go on and on abt all the craziness that is going on in the world....but this topic has no end, because before you know it...there is one more incident. We were in Bali Apr 03 and Bali bombing happened in Oct 03.....we were shocked. Balinese people are so friendly and sweet. They totally depend on tourism and then this happens...

We went back last year and again this year....My hubby was soooooo maaad...he just loves Bali and hates what is happening to that place.....

I compoletely agree with you both. We have a Muslim girl at work. She is doing (?) Ramadan at the moment and it's been really interesting how fascinated the japanese students have been about her praying and stuff. they have so many questions.

hey roksana - i've always wanted to know, whats the diff between Islam and Muslim?

Posted By: Roksana
Date Posted: 18 October 2005 at 2:17pm
Islam is the religion and Muslims are the people who follow it....

Yah Ramadan is the fasting season, one whole month where you cant eat or drink any thing between Sunrise and Sunset. I hardly ever fasted....its hard when you work. But I always loved Eid (the end of fasting)...there is always loads of food and family is around and you get to buy new cloths....he he ha ha

But since weve moved to NZ, the Eid is not that exciting, as we dont have many family here.

My hubby celebrates Diwali (festival of lights) around the same time, and again there is loads of food and people.....Can you tell I like food?? LOL

Oooo this is fun. This is what my degree is in!!!!

I study religion and politics and in particular Islam and Middle Eastern politics.

Stoked that you guys all think the way you do. I've come across so many people that I have had to explain about Islam being a religion of peace. Just like Christianity and Judaism there are extremists and it is just unfortunate that they are dominating the media.

Posted By: Roksana

See Koran starts off with Adam and Eve....talks about Moses and then Jesus and finally Mohammad...we are extension of the same religion....but no one cares....Jews hate Christians and Muslims and they hate the them right back.....I cant understand it!!

I think Buddhist are the best...they stay away from all the problems!

Yep, Buddhism sure seems peaceful...

Is it true that women do not have to observe Ramadan? One of the Mum's at Maya's playcentre was doing it last year and she said that she didn't have to because she was a woman, but she was doing it to support her husband.

Thats rubbish...all muslims have to observe Ramadan. Woman, man....whatever. Only children under a certain age are allowed to skip it.

She obviously doesnt know what she is talking abt...or uses that excuse to make her self feel better. I dont observe it...because it is a personal choice...atleast have the guts to admit it.
