I am 6wks pregnang and looking for a job. I just had a gr8 interview. Do I tell them that I am early pregnant or do I wait. Can they fire me if I dont tell them? I plan to go back asap, not taking leave for a very long time. I know it would be difficult, but sometimes you need to do these things.

hey i recommend yeah you tell them as soon as your showing or start feeling unwell, cause he may have time off work etc.....best to be upfront rather then later, they cnt fire you but its up to your boss what he wants in a employee

I agree with Becs, its best to be upfront. You may need to take a couple of hours off during the day for antenatal appointments and stuff, so its best if your employer knows whats going on.

Thanks, guys I am just concern that if I tell them in an interview, or before they offer me a job I might loose the opportunity to even start working.

Unfortunately most employers are not too keen on hiring pregnant women......As you will be due around June, they will have too get a temp for the time you are not there...and you have to be off for at least 13 weeks.....I know a girl who was like you and did not tell the employer that she was pregnant....three weeks after she started she told them that she found out she was pregnant....they could not fire her but were not too happy.....I think it is a morale dilemma more than any thing.....
Good luck...you might be surprised...your future employer might be a very understanding person, and not care that you are pregnant.

I personally would not tell them that is just me tho I would wait awhile then tell them you had jsut found out you only need to work in a job for 6 months to get paid parental leave. I don't think it is being dishonest I just think that they will be less then likly to emply you I had this problem when I was at an interview and mentioned my son there face's droped and i did not get the job so I am guessing it would be worse if you tell them you are preggy you could always wait till they offer you the job cause they can't take the offer back just cause you a preggy.
Good luck hope it all work's out for you.

I wouldn't tell them as employers seem to be prejudiced towards pregnant women.. I can understand why, as they don't want to hire someone only to loose them again a little while down the track.. but anyone they hire could leave for some reason or another.
Wait a little while and then tell them. Good luck with job hunting, I had to temp as no one would hire me :P

Yeah its not a time they wanna hire people thats forsure.
But we are entitled to maternity leave after working for the same company for 6 months now. So that is a bonus.
I went back to my job for two weeks when my son was about 6 weeks old (only for 2hours in the morning).
I gave notice after that i missed him to much.
Now he is 10months and i am going back to work for 2days a week same sort of work, different business.
What sort of job are you going for? if you don't mind me asking? You wont want to be on your feet all day.
Best of luck, hope you get the job us mums deserve the same chance as any women out there.
