Hey everyone,

I have recently discovered that I am in early stages of pcos (polycystic ovary syndrome) :( It took 2 years of trying to get pregnant with Aston, previously to that I had an ectopic and had my left tube removed. So it seems that its pretty difficult for me. At my doctors visit last week I asked about trying for another baby. My doctor said that the scan I had showed I still have enough good amount of ovary tissue left. Which is a good thing. She also said that if after 6 months of trying with no success that she could refer us to get free fertility treatment due to me having pcos.
The only thing is I have never known when my AF comes. I can get around 3-4 maybe 5?? per year. So knowing when the time is right to try is really hard.

Is there anyone else who has this or has any advice to offer me? We really are hoping for baby #2 sometime very soon and I'd love for it to happen on its own rather then having to go through fertility treatment :(

Thanks for that... I will come over and join you guys in the infertility threads!

My doctor didn't tell me anything about charting or whatever... she didn't say I had to do anything...? Is there something I should be doing? Cos I would hate for myself to be responsible for any delay if it comes down to that...

I have PCOS as well and there is a bit that you can do. The syndrome can never go away but you can keep it in check somehow. (almost like diabetes 1. Will always have it but it wont ruin your life)

These tips help me:

Take folic acid (which you need for a future baby anyway)
Zinc help with the metabolism and keep your insulant resistance down (if you are not all PCOS woman are however)

If you are slightly overweight (which a lot of PCOS woman are) try to lose 5% of your body weight. It usually brings periods in whack again as it lowers the testosterone and bring all other hormones back into sync again.

Its hard sometimes to lose weight if having PCOS but try to stay away from the bad stuff.

Primrose oil helped me a lot to get my periods back to where it should be.

Charting freaked me out as I could never get it right due to periods being so out of whack. Which made me stress more, which just make your body reject having a baby as your body is really clever to try not to fall pregnant if you are stress.

Really just enjoy your partner and make love when you feel like it. The month we relaxed was the month we fell pregnant. (I know easier said than done)

Thank you, I really don't know where to start.

I think I should get some folic acid as a start then, and evening primrose oild... Before I found out about all this I had a doctors appointment about my weight etc, she put me on some pills to help me out, I have been on them for coming up 2 months now and have lost 11.6kgs in that time. I still have more to go but now I feel like it is possible now if I have come this far.

Stress is something that I have alot of at the moment, looong story but I guess I'm going to have to find a way to not be so stressed.. hmmmm I'll need to put my thinking cap on lol

Thanks for all your support and advice. I'm just so scared its not going to happen very fast

Re the crazy cycles thing, unless you take something for it to make you begin your cycles or make you O, you just have to wing it - that is, if you're like me and nothing else works and you seem to have 1 successful cycle (eg Ovulating) ever and it happens to be the one you fall pg on!
