Why do you reckon, DH's don't stand up for their family more often? Why are we men often like kids when it comes to MIL's or confrontation with family? What's happened to the backbone that men are supposed to have?

And yet we can stand up to bosses when they affect the paycheque?

because thats not how their mothers raised them!

its prob like a lady i talked to the other day - shes a kindy teacher, has been a primary teacher and a head teacher, yet every time she walks into a shool she feels like she is 10 yrs old again.

I think it is the fact its their parent and they are quite scared of them in a way!! My DH would never DARE to stand up to his dad.... but he is the same with his mum as well... He HATES confrontation!! He would rather give up and not argue with her...Let her get her way!

I get annoyed and often ask him where his balls are!!

Its probably cause no matter how mature or grown up you are, your still your parents child, and its difficult to reverse a lifetime of being told what to do.

Backbone do men have them?! I'm sure they do, sometimes its easier to keep the peace than risk an argument. IMHO Kiwi mean don't like confrontation. They'd rather get out of the way.

Its not only DHs, DW/Ps have a hard time of it too.
I just hope that I don't become the kind of MIL that everyone vents about.
