I have been doing a bit of research on the whole cloth nappy debate (which is best etc) and have decided I quite like the sound of both the HC and FB but was wondering what the main differences were between these nappies and why you would choose one over the other etc. Also was reading a previous thread on the new HC liners that you were all raving about but when I had a look on the HC website I wasn't sure which ones these were. There are a couple of difference between the HC and the FBs Honey Child used to be the exclusive NZ distributor of Fuzzis, but since they moved their production the quality has become very substandard and we are not happy to support the product anymore. We have a limited stock of mostly white FBs, but once these sell we are not ordering anymore. This is a real shame because the USA made FBs were fantastic! 
Honey Child have developed their own pocket nappies and have improved on the great pocket design. Our nappies are NZ made  have a DriWick fleece lining which draws moisture away from baby's skin even faster than "normal" they can be purchased with the super absorbent insert (or without if you wanted - these are only inserts available on the HC website unless you buy an FB nappy) so there is less need to buy lots of boosters (saves you money!). We also have a 30 day money back guarentee and also a 1 year warranty on our workmanship.

Thanks for that - makes it a bit clearer, and I do like the idea of supporting NZ made but still getting a top quality nappy.
I was wondering if you could give me a bit more advice. I'm expecting my first baby in Feb and am planning to use cloth fully after the first couple of weeks. How many nappies would you recommend I get (and liners), what size (mind you the sizing looks a bit simpler for the HC than the FB!), and how quickly etc do the grow out of the sizes (on average), is there a discount for purchasing bulk and how do I go about ordering?? Most people order between 12-18 nappies for a newborn as they need changing more often and you'll be washing them more often. As baby gets older they need less changes so you will be able to wash them less often. Liners are a personal thing. They are for the people who don't like to deal with poop! I've personally never used them as with newborn breast fed poo it's all liquid so will seep through the liner anyway and when they are on solids the poop just rolls off the fleece. As for sizes, newborns mostly start in smalls (unless you have a very big baby that goes straight into mediums) so it's very hard to say how long a child would be in each size. For example, Caitlin was born 4.3kg and was in the small Fuzzis from birth until 6 months, even though the size chart says she should have been out of them much earlier. She's now in the mediums at 14 months and still has heaps of growing room left in those. You're pretty safe getting smalls for a newborn and if your baby only fits them for a little while (and you're not having any more kids, then you can sell them on Trade Me to fund the next size up )

we are kind of one and the same. Honey Child distribute (but not for much longer) Fuzzis and we also have our own brand Honey Child Pocket Nappies which are flying out the door! Pre-sale production was for 3000 and they have ALL gone! (that's in just 2 months!) | We love our honeychild nappies! The fleece is so nice and soft, and the colours are gorgy!! Isla was in fuzzi's from newborn (8lb6 /3.82Kg) to 9 months ( although the rise was getting a bit small at about 8 months- they started to look like bikini bottoms, but still had a few snaps to go in the thigh and waist! ) She is still on the smallest setting of medium size HC nappys, and is almost a year old (and average height and weight). |

We do something even better than lay-by!
We have an Ezy-Pay option which allows you to split your payments over 3 months, but you get your nappies when your first payment goes through

not that I have anything to compare my nappies to since I have just started using them and my honeychild nappy is the only one I own at the moment, BUT I just love it. It is so very cute, so soft (wouldn't mind wrapping one of those around my bum  ) and I have used it for up to 3 hours during the day and over night for 12 hours and no leaks so yay pom poms out for honeychilds!
