I had the zoo on while i was changing Spencer and they had spiders on there, which I really hate and was just wondering what everyone else is scared of and why?

I'm scared of spiders because I had some bad experiences as a child, the worst was the day me and my sister were playing in the garden and I walked into a nest of spiders and was covered head to toe in baby spiders, I screamed so load mum thought I had broke my leg, she had to strip me naked and put me in the shower to get rid of them, not funny I wouldn't say I have a phobia as i can deal with small spiders and I can cope with bigger ones if they are far away, but I freak out if they get too close or if one gets on me.

Everything! I am scared of birds (as in pathologically afraid, break out in a sweat etc.), heights, the dark, lifts, mice and plenty more, and I'm also claustrophobic. Oh and it takes lots of drugs to keep my anxiety from controlling my life!

But spiders and insects don't surprise me funnily enough, I think probably coz we lived in Oz when I was younger and we used to get huge Huntsmen spiders in our shower all the time so I'm just used to them.

PS. To answer the question "why" I am afraid of so many things, I have no idea. I have an anxiety disorder and it's all part of that.

I am scared of heights, HATE spiders...
and for some reason for the last couple of months keep having a dream where I go into water in the car and have to try and rescue the kids... who would you rescue and how when they are babies?!?!?! I used to have a nightmare as a kid where the harbour bridge collapsed and that has been creeping into the dream ..EEEEK

Doesnt help that I read the story about the family that lost 4 of their 7 chldren by plunging into a river in the UK...

Oh, that was a bit long!

I have a fear of bridges, I think it comes from my dad being silly at Huka falls and me getting freaked out big time. I still at 25 run over that bridge to get to the other side.

I hate driving over bridges, Im always scared someone is going to clip my car or a big gust of wind will push me into another car and send me over the edge. My dad was in a truck accident a couple of months ago when a bus didnt give him enough room on the bridge, luckily he was almost off it and able to reach the otherside but the truck rolled and everything, was horrible.
Flying is a major major fear of mine.... just part of the whole anxiety disorder thing I guess. Oh and I cant lock a toilet door if there is no gap above or below for me to climb out incase the lock doesnt work.

This sounds really dumb compared to all of your fears but I have a huge phobia of vomiting, as it I have panic attacks, sweat, can't catch my breath and shake. It's awful because I have a lot of trouble going to sleep because of the fear that one of the kids will be sick. It's a stuggle to keep it from ruling my life. The kids next door had a vomiting bug last week so I kept disinfecting everything. One time I heard Chloe be sick in her cot when she was 10mths old and I tried to rush into her but I could hardly move and my cheast went tight. I use rescue remedy now and it helps a bit.

I have learnt that any fear is not dumb after what my DH has been through no fear is dumb.

I'm petrified of rats. Our cat caught one a couple of weeks ago, I caught a glimpse of it when I came home to turn the alarm off after the builder set off and I sat in the car at the bottom of the driveway when I got home from work until DH came and moved it. They're ugly and their teeth are far to big for their bodies. Ew ew ew.
I'm also scared of socks. I hate socks, they suffocate my feet and they're grotty. It drives DH insane sometimes.
I'm also afraid of sitting in a seat where people can move around behind me, this stems from a childhood experience which has also caused me to be afraid of looking outside a window when it's dark.

i cant have a body part out of the bed at night, even when its really really hot i have to be fully covered and keep my feet and hands in the bed. dh likes to freak me out by letting his feet hang out over the side

and the usual, birds flying bugs jamming fingers oh and i freak out when there is a scene in a movie involving horses, as they always *get* hurt and they scream and their legs break and i find it all so hidious. think that one is related to the fingers icky fear. i am constantly telling xanthe "fingers" to watch her fingers around doors, cars, drawers, feet etc etc etc. its a dangerous world out there for fingers you know!

BEES!!!, wasps and even bumble bees:( Everytime one flys anywhere near me I freak out - much to the delight of on lookers   Major over reaction but I really hate anything flying near my head!!!
I am also terrified of the dark, especially being alone in the dark. I think this fear comes from the first time I lived alone when I was 20. I woke up one night to somebody walking on the deck. I had to sleep with a kitchen knife under the pillow after that

Me too! I dont really drink incase im going to be sick, I dont do anything like rollercoasters incase I throw up (and throwing up in public would just be devastating) I was so worried when i was pregnant with addison because I had thrown up constantly with Kobe but my midwifes daughter has the same thing and understood how i felt so made sure she got the drugs charted before she induced me.
I live my life avoiding small spaces, spiders (oh and I found too in my house last night) people looking at me and vomiting.

camels. when i was little we went to Arana park. we were staying with an elderly aunt who said "Elizabeth will love the camels - take some bread and feed them" so we opened the windows and the camels all stuck their heads in and slobbered everywhere and then grabbed a bag of mnums washing and threw it everywhere all over the park - so the groundskeeper had to come and rescue us.   still givees me the creeps.

I hate birds too Emma. I hate pigeons, the idea of standing in a park feeding them scares me. I'm scared of big birds esp swans and geese. I got attacked by a goose when I was 3yrs old at Western Springs (on a kindy trip) and have never really got over it.

After we watched Alfred Hitchcocks 'The Birds' in highschool I don't like large flocks of birds.

Emus scare the willys out of me too.

I'm scared of heights big time!!! I even hate seeing other people close to the edge of things. I cryed going up Lion Rock at Piha once and I think I may have been all of 2-3 metres up. I used to cry when my sister walked along the sea wall around the water front and I hated her so not sure why it worried my so much. When we were at Disneyland there was a ride that gave you the illusion of flying over things it was really well done ..... it really freaked my out but the kids were with me so I had to be brave although I really wanted to cry. I'll know better next time.
Oh yeah and I hated skiing the lack of control going so fast down hill etc and the bloody chair lifts never never again.

I'm not afraid of bridges but for those who are, I saw a program on TV and they actually have people that drive other peoples cars over bridges for them in the States. Guess there must be a few people with that phobia.

Bugs & creepy crawlies dont worry me too much, can cope with spiders. Am not overly keen on snakes, but wouldnt say I am scared of them as such.

I am however scared of thunder & lightning.....which isnt a good thing today in Auckland! When I was little I used to "hide" under my dads big work coat when it thundered. I dont know why I am so scared of it - logically I know that it cant hurt me, but still really really dislike it! I also HATE overtaking trucks on the motorway - have a fear of them tipping over onto me! I dont like swimming in deep water where I cant see the bottom - am okay in pools, but not so good in the sea - like swimming off the back of boats. I will do it, but am always conscious to stay pretty close to the boat!

I can't believe all the weird things people are scared of. I thought of another weird fear I have and that is running out of time. If I have a lay in (which hasn't happen since baby arrived) then I would be annoyed because I had wasted time that I could've been doing things with, am constantly watching the clock.

Bleah, I also hate spiders. And snakes. They make me scream. That is what keeps me from moving to Oz! Even wee green garter snakes... When I visit my family in the US I always get paranoid that there will be snakes in the garden. Just the thought of them makes me shudder!

I also don't like being in the water where I can't see my feet, like at the beach. I suppose I'm afraid of stepping on something scary, like a big crab or a jellyfish. My best friend always took me clamming in Maryland and she and her dad could feel the clams with their feet -- ewwwwww. I always wore beach shoes and used a clam rake!

And I can't have my feet or hands hanging out of the bed either -- it comes from seeing the Gremlins movie as a kid! When I first moved here, DH told me that gremlins are real, and that they live in the sewers and wharfs in central Auckland, and that there are gremlin catchers who go down to the waterfront and capture them and put them in containers on container ships, then take them out to sea and dump them. I actually believed him for a while! Sigh...

I hate the sea or even a river if i cant see to the bottom, god knows whats going to get me and i would never even consider jumping off a boat into the seat.

Im the opposite with the limbs out of the bed thing, i have to have my legs out of the bed or I feel trapped.

ZOMBIES!!!! (or vampires)

I also hate snakes, I break out in a sweat and dry retch even seeing one on tele or in a book. When I was little, I used to hide any books with them in (can't even say it) in the shed and would wash my hands heaps after touching it.
