Since there are so many palmy mums on here I was wondering if there are any other Hawkes Bay mums on here. I'm reasonably new to the area so it would be nice to meet some other mums in the area.

I am technically in HB as well! We live in Dannevirke now but we lived in Hastings for a bit. I come up every now and then to the Hospital to visit work friends, so if you going to get together I may be able to come too!

hi kiwimummy
hey waipuks not too bad. i was living out tiko for a year which was good for some head space but got abit lonely so headed into town. was originally wanting to go hastings/taradale but rent is soooooo expensive up there. but am lucky here as knew a few folk b4 moving here. my friend of 25 years grew up out at onga so used to come and stay most school holidays as a teenager and party hard . and slowly getting to know more ppl which is cool

Thanks kiwimummy. For some strange reason I'm a lot more nervous about this birth than I was about the last one. We are planning to have bubs in the Napier maternity unit as long as everything is straight forward. Now that it doesn't seem like bubs is going to be on time it will also be a matter of if they have any beds.
We should definately try and get to together sometime if there is ever a time when everyone can be in the same town at the same time!
Let me know if anyone is going to be in the area we could meet up and let the kiddies have a play together.

Chloe is 2 and a 1/4 and bubs was due yesterday, we haven't found out the sex which is making the waiting even harder. We have always lived in Napier since i've been here because Josh works at Hawkes Bay Toyota but the cost a rent is horrible, and we are keeping our eyes open to buy and that will probably be in Hastings. I must admit I really enjoy Napier but if we won lotto I'd love to buy in Havelock North. We usually end up driving out to Waimarama on the weekends where Josh's father has a lifestyle block so we don't really spend too much time in town.

yeah havelock north is awesome aye. we used to live there when i was younger even went to primary there and my nana lived there for years but its even more expensive than hastings/napier aye. got friends who lived there and stayed with them while was looking for a rental and i loved it. the schools are really good there 2. and i love waimarama and ocean. arent they jus the best beaches!!! although i must admit the beaches down here are pretty fantastic 2. am really looking forward to taking the boys to the beach over the summer.
i didnt realise they had a maternity unit in napier - thats great. i have a few friends that have had their bubs in hastings - they have the coolest big bath there.
oh and my boys just turned 2 mid oct - the terrible 2 phase arrrgggggg!!!

Oh no the terrible two's times two! When I told one of my friends that Chloe had started acting like a terrible two as reassurance she told me it only lasts until about 3 and a half!! We have mastered the art of the naughty chair we started it as soon as she started to push the boundries and it worked wonders, we don't even really need to use it now, we just give her a warning and she's good again!
The prices in Havelock are stupid, I was looking in the paper last night and for an average 3brm house it would be over $440,000!

yes we are having a little boy !! so we have just finished decorating his room :) I think it is a good idea to decorate babys room to what flavour baby is it makes it that much easier. We just cant decide on names we like ryan, samuel and joshua just a matter of picking which one suits him when he finally enters the world I guess!

Baby boys are great!!! We argued for AGES about babys name, he was Max for ages and when he was born we decided he looked like a Leo instead! Those are all nice boys names, you'll have to see what name he suits! Are you planning on having baby in hastings or napier? I transfered over to the napier unit a few hours after having baby and it was fantastic, so quiet!!

We are just out of taradale, it is great here!! During the day is fine for me as long as its between 9 -3 for school pick ups. I remember reading that article in the paper about PAFT, I was thinking of giving them a ring, would you recommend the programme??

we are planning on having baby in hastings just in case something comes up during the birth. And what you said sounds like a good idea by transferring to napier :) How long do you stay in hospital for with your first?
|

Date Posted: 08 August 2006 at 10:26pm
yep PAFT was great - hoping to be able to pick up the remainder of the boys last few mnths up here. But ring them tomorrow if you can as you have to get in before bubs is 4mths old. Was absolutley gutted when the shut it down in waipuk as I found the program brilliant. My friend and I are heading over to taradale on friday to go to the parent centre. Apparently its new and awesome so best check these things out lol. Chance to hopefully meet some great people.
Oh a great idea for a get together if anyone keen once the weather gets better is splash planet. Its free entry at the mo as rides closed but the kids can play in noddy town and the train and merry go round are operating. $2 each - with the train being free to 2 and unders. Went the other day and the boys loved it. Also the train driver let the boys pull the train whistle.
Otherwise once i get th boys into daycare I will have a free day once a week to just chill - yay so could do coffees with you ladies (actually im a milo drinker so i'll do milo hehe)

Not too sure what the place is called or where it is in Taradale - I think its called Parent Centre. Will let you know how it goes on friday and all the details on it for you

Hello!
I joined OhBaby a few months ago, but have been busy! Stoked there's a HB mums chatting space
I'm Rosie, from Hastings. I have 3 kids - Cam is 3 in Nov, Charlotte & Megan are 14 months old.
Have you joined the multi birth club, Marlene? They're having clothing swap next month (but you're boys will prob be too big for handmedowns - 3 yr olds tend to wear out their clothes more than grow out, huh?) which is also one of the biggest social mornings of the year. They also have fortnightly playgroups - nice to be at a place where you're normal!
Your boys can't be far off kindy? Where do you think you'll send them? I've booked all 3 into Parkvale (hey, if I'm filling in one form, why not 3?!?)
PAFT is fabulous! I have Belinda - she's great!

Hi rosie no I havent signed upto the MB club yet - cos im so useless at organising myself at the mo lol. My boys are quite little still - I can still fit keegs in some 1 year old stuff!!! But I really want to join up and meet some folk. When is the next playgroup? I should come along and check it out.
Looking at Parkvale kindy too as its just down the road about 500metres - we are on Park rd Sth. Are you far from here?
But i need to TT them first. Now in a TT friendly house will be heaps easier. My friend sent/sending her kids to parkvale too and thought it was fantastic.
Went to the Parent Centre in Taradale today Kiwimummy and it was pretty good although they cant accept us until next term when they are allowed more kids. But its all new and they have teachers there to do things and I got told off for cleaning up as they have cleaners - FANTASTIC!! Now the road its on I cant remember but as your heading into taradale from the motorway you turn right at the first set of lights and its down there about 200m on the left - theres a sign up on the fence. If you get the chance check it out. Did you get to ring PAFT?

Thanks for that!! Is that playcentre? Still havent figured it out lol as I've never heard of it before, and I am thinking you mean guppy road?? Is that heading to taradale from the meeanee lights? Would love to get into something with the little guy, he is such a sticky beak at the moment lol and is just taking everything in! LOVES watching big brother tearing around the place! Left a message with PAFT, will keep phoning them next week as the little guys isnt far off being 4 months. Good luck with the TT, my DS was a nightmare to day train but once he had that sorted he night trained himself which was great!!! Being a boy he was lazy too lol!!

So much for procrastination!
It's tomorrow! HB Multi birth club playgroup is on the first and third wednesday of the month! I'll PM you, Marlene
Have you checked out Parent & Child in Havelock, Marlene? You go there with your kids and play - no cleanup required. $40/term - lots of people love it!
We're near the St Aubyn/Riverslea corner dairy - on the other side of the kindy from you.
I'll PM you now.
