Hi there.
I am doing Sure Slim and have just started this new vibration plate to tone up. I have lost 8kgs over 6mths (as I don't always stick to programme . What have you done and how successful has it been for you? How long has it taken you? Have you been in a rush to do it?
Summer is coming and for once I would like to not look at my togs with such fear at exposing myself in public .
Plus I have my wedding in Raratonga next year, to help motivated me.
Look forward in hearing from you.

To be honest I can't really help you, after I had Chloe I was so busy running round getting the hang of being a mum that I simply would forget to eat properly(yes I know how naughtly that was ) as well as the fact that one of the only things that settled her was walking so I was forever walking around the block with her and as for being toned, my arms got pretty toned from carrying her up and down the hallway to get her to fall asleep! I was a size 8 before I got pregnant and I was wearing about a 16 after she was born then by the time she was 4months i was down to a size 10 and if it wasn't for the stretch marks I would have been in a bikini. I think it was probably all the walking as well as breastfeeding that helped the weight come off.
This time I'm a bit worried because I've heard it's harder to lose the weight after the second baby and I'm getting married in a bit less than 19months so I want to look my best.

Well I've always been big, and I ballooned after having Maya, but I've been doing WW and have lost 42kg so far. Still have about another 15 to go, but getting there!
I'm not really in a rush, I've always been overweight and I weigh less now than I did at 16 which is cool. My health is my most important motivation, and I love that I am so much fitter now. I run 5km on the treadmill every day...

I cant really help either, I had Caleb early and didnt get to big apart from the steriods, I went from 56kgs to 99kgs while preg but I was so stressed after having him and him beig so sick i was back to a size 10 4mnths later, without doing anything, and yes ive been told that its harder to loose the weight after the 2nd 1, i had packed on a lil weight before i got preg, i was 70kgs before I got preg this time and so far ive only got up 2 81kgs, they want me to be puttin on 1kg per week but i dont seem to be able to.. not for lack of trying, ive benn on strict bedrest for the last 14wks and I dont watch what I eat, but im so hoping it will be easy to loose the weight after bubs, but to tell you the truth I couldnt care to much, he he cause Andrew seems to have put on some sympaty preg fat..hehe

Hi, I'm doing body for life at the gym... it's hard work and i'm on my own so the nights are the hardest, when all the kids are in bed I binge and feel horrible afterwards . I was a lovely 60 kg before the kids now i'm 97 kg and struggling. I don't want to go out , i have no nice clothes and refuse to but a size 20... I think that I'm using my weight to hide behind as a reason not to go out and socialize, I feel safer on my own, anyone else whos screwed up like me, I'd like to hear from you!!!!

CONGRATULATIONS to all those who have lost weight so far especially Maya, as 42kgs is a very impressive amount to lose.
ThreeLittleBears - When I was on my own I was in a similar space as you. I moved out to the country and issolated myself. But I use to go for a 1hr walk every night. Unfortunitly as I got skinnier I socialised more and slowly put all my weight back on. But hang in there life will get better. Just look at life positively and only great things can happen. I know it seems hard some days, but as long as you remind yourself of the great things every day, everyday will get easier. Even if it is only that you managed to clean the house or get your child to school that day. They are all positives.
I have had 3 children and never returned to what I was before I had the children. But this time I am determined to. The lowest I have got to is 59kgs and I want to get to 54kgs. I am only 5ft so this is the best size for me.
Isn't it nice when the weight comes off without even trying. Keep going everyone.
Aren't the stretch marks a bummer though.
We can all help to keep each other motivated.

I am about 11kgs over my pre pregnancy weight and it doesn't sound like much but MAN I notice it...
My neighbour and I have just started doing walks - bit annoying as we have to drive for 5 minutes to be able to walk (country roads not ideal for little ones)
MOTIVATION is the key!! Good luck everyone

I'm pretty sure the only reason I've lost weight is because I'm still breastfeeding. It's falling off me and my child has roly poly thighs so I'm pretty sure she is draining me of all nutrients.
I think I'm the size I was when I was 17. Mind you, that could just be because after my first year at uni I had put on a whole heap of weight so I'm not sure what my usual size is. Ah well... as long as I don't lose any more.

Yes breast feeding is pretty good for loosing weight. I am still breast feeding and I know when I over indulge, I don't worry too much as Tara generally takes it all.
I use to go walking everyday, but since we are so far from anything, it is easier to take the car. If the kids schools were closer then I would walk them to school. I think I am just really great at coming up with excuses not to go for a walk

Still got about another 15-20 kg to go tho - I was massive at my biggest. I'll try and find a pic, but I doubt if I even have any. Maria (AngelNZ) saw me at my biggest tho, so she knows how bad it was...
My biggest problem now is saggy skin on my tummy and arms. Because I have lost so much weight the skin just hangs. I had a meeting with my gym instructor today tho and he has given me some new excercises to tone up my arms and tummy specifically and help develop more muscle tone. So here's hoping I will finally have decent arms instead of chicken wings!

I am SOOOO losing weight after this bubba. hey, I know weightwatchers has a breastfeeding mums plan. Does anyone know much about it? I don't want to be too restrictive when i'm feeding, but also want encouragement to eat better.

LOL Maria, don't lie I was huuuuge!
Lizzle, a friend looked into doing the WW b/feeding plan and I think it is pretty much the same as the basic plan but you get extra points which you are supposed to use on extra protein and stuff. Not 100% sure as I was soooo unmotivated while feeding, but it sounded ok. My friend didn't do it either - same motivation issues

Lizzie I have been tossing up doing the breast feeding plan but decided against it as I am already dairy free and am having real issues with low blood pressure etc. I am already not eating enough apparently Basically it is the same as ww but you get 6 extra points or something. I decided to wait until I stop bf and then do it properly when I can eat dairy again! I only want to lose about 6kg anyway and I know that will go really quickly. Last time I did ww it helped me lose 20kg! I love it because it is so easy!

Yep, that's why I'm a big WW fan - I can still eat takeaways when I get caught up with work, and chocolate at that time of the month, I just factor it into my points.
Oh and sugarfree V drinks are points free....

So is diet coke and sprite zero!!
Am doing WW with my dad and I can have 20 points a day and I eat HEAPS and can only get to 17... Then I go for a walk and get 2 points "credits" so at 15 and I even have pudding...
Think I might be doing something wrong!!

No, I don't think you would be doing anything wrong. I remember when I was on WW (after 3 years of beer and burgers at uni!!) I felt like I was CONSTANTLY eating. I had dessert most nights too - usually a chocolate mousse or one of the other WW desserts. I really enjoyed it, and up until this year when I started to put weight on (preparing for pregnancy I like to tell myself ) I followed the basic principals of what I learned at WW and managed to keep off my 16kgs for 8 years.

I joined WW when Quinn was about three months... (please note the PAST tense!). I should have normally been allowed about 20 points, but while breatsfeeding was allowed 36!! This is huge!! I basically had to up what I was eating to get anywhere near 36 points!!
And I have no tips re losing weight, I am still porky after having Quinn, I have not been on the scales since having him but I think I lost about 10 kg of baby weight (5 of that was the actualy baby) and then have remained the same since! Exercise is the key, if you eat reasonably then exercise is the best way tolose it!! But I am so slack and lazy that I just cannot be bothered!! ARGH! Damn his lack of motivation!! Can really complain tho cause I know I should do it but don't so I should quit whining!!
The bestest thing about WW is the menus,I have always struggled in what tohave for diner, it was so nice to just check the menu and go without thinking!!

I am quite motivated with excercise now, I go to the gym 5 times a week (3x cardio and 2x cardio+weights) and I go to yoga once or twice a week. But it took me 11 mths after I had Maya to even set foot back in the gym.

But Lena it is important to eat all your Points because if you don't your metabolism slows down and you get stuck on a plateau. I was allowed 24 when I first started, and was only eating 18-20 and I found it really hard to shift the weight, but once I started eating all my points it moved a lot faster.

You guys sound like WW worked for you really well. I found it hard because I didn't learn to eat healthy, just what fitted into my points. I did exercise every day (1hr and a half walk)while my son was at pre school, but once I went back to work, couldn't keep up the exercise and socilised a bit too much and it all slowly came back on. This time I have done Sure Slim and yes it cost a little more, but if you equaled it to what you pay for weekly weigh ins at WW, it is not that much dearer. I have learnt I have a sugar addiction and how much it affects my eating habits. As if I have sugar now (that time of the month), I feel really tired and have a headache. It also makes me more hungry. I have also learnt that bread makes you bloat, when I was being naughty and had too much I looked like I was pregnant again. I am breast feeding also, Sure Slim have a programme for that. I find I don't stick to it religiously and that is why it is taking so long to lose it. But I feel that it took 3 kids and 14 yrs to put it on, I can take a little while to take it off. Plus when Tara is sick she seems to feed more off me than on solids. It is great when you find the programme that works for you.
I have also discovered this vibration plate. There are a few places that have set up in Tauranga. For 15min you do certain poses that tighten muscles while on this machine and depending on the intensity of the vibration it gives that muscle a workout. They reckon in 15min on this machine is like doing and hour at the gym. I go 2x a week and I am already seeing some toning in my tummy muscles. Which after having 3 c sections, I never thought I would see again, lol.

I really want to get more into exercise but less for my health and more to encourage Jake to be active. He's such a busy little boy I really think he needs to be involved in some kind of sport even now just to burn up that extra energy. But I can hardly moan at him for staying on the computer all day and not getting ourside when I do the same thing!!! (this of course is in the future...although he does like to "type")

Well I am feeling quite organised today
I have done up a tracking sheet of what I am eating during the day and how many points I'm having etc - Found that I eat quite a bit of "Zero" points food... Hence why I can't get to eat all my points!!
So I now organise Dinner before I have breakfast (so I know how many points I will be having) - and then "budget" my points for brekkie , lunch and snacks.
Thanks for the advice Emma, have been on WW for about 3 weeks now and haven't gone anywhere (weight wise)... so hopefully will be able to budge a little more while eating my "20 points"
Keep up the good work everyone!!

Good luck Lena! Do you go to meetings? I'm a cheapskate - bought the books online and just follow the programme myself hehe.
Lizzle, Maya is the same - energy to burn and never sits still lol. This term I've put her in swimming lessons and dancing to try and get her into some 'organised' excercise, and she also walks pushing her doll in the dolls pram when we go walking so she is getting exercise then too(although I don't know how Lewis would feel about Jake pushing a pram )
I do worry about Maya because she has two fat parents, but I figure if I teach her healthy habits she should be okay right? Plus Willie wasnt overweight as a child (I was) he just got that way as a lazy adult.

Nah Dad does (hes got money - I dont!!) and he's brought me the points calculator, books etc and if he picks up anything new he just lets me know!!
Pretty good having him doing it as well - we drive into town (dont like country roads!) - and walk for an hour or so - good for father daughter bonding too.
I had 20 1/2 points today
My mum and dad are both overweight (mum moreso then dad) and my sis is quite large too... I was the skinny princess until I had Arna... Now I'm heading down the path of the rest of my family... so I am doing something while I can!! children learn not what they are told but what they see (something like that!)
Babbling is over!

yeah, my family has a huge history of heart probs - dad has to have bypass surgery next year, uncle had two attacks, other uncle had heart transplant, grandma died of heart attack, so i really need to get into exercising to stop genetics! But I agree Lena, kids learn by what they see, so a good role model I shall be....as soon as I get back to NZ

Date Posted: 04 November 2005 at 6:12am
My family don't have much of a history of heart problems (my Dad's side seem to live to 80+ but Mum's side has a strong cancer history) but on Willie's side they do - his brother dropped dead very suddenly of a massive heart attack at 56 a few weeks ago, and his father had diabetes and died of a heart attack related to that. Willie has high blood pressure, high cholestorol, prediabetes blah blah blah. I think it's a diet and excercise thing for him, as well as genetics, but he has taken the first step by seeing the doc and getting on medication for the BP and cholesterol.
I'm getting a cross trainer for xmas, so will hopefully be able to get him on that so he can get a bit of weight off.
So I'm really hoping that by setting a good exercise and healthy eating pattern for Maya she can ditch the dodgy genetics and maintain a healthy weight.

Haha Liz - Procrastination setting in?
Emma - Sorry to hear about Willies brother - I think the key for our kids as we have all said is to bring them up with exercise (lots of play and sports!) and healthy eating!!
I'm talking my dad into getting me a treadmill / exercycle - alot easier to do it at home then driving half an hour to walk or bike on the country roads at night when David gets home!

It is so hard being a role model isn't it!? I worry about what Joey will pick up from us as my favourite thing is eating and watching Shortland Street I have always been fat but try and watch what I eat. Even when I was teaching and ate lunch in front of/with my class I tried to only eat healthily as it sucks looking like a hypocrite!

It is funny that you all mention trying to pass on good habits, this is something that has been on my mind a lot lately!! I am the slackest of all slackers but Ifind Quinn is a fab reason toget out and do something! He too is an active wee kidlet which is great!
There is a severe risk of high blood pressure on both sides of my family so I really need to be aware of that! Both my parents have been on meds for it since early 20s. Andys family have got the good genes tho, all the women in his family live past 100 (looks like I am going to have to put up with the MIL for years!!)
