No I'm not leaving, LOL!
As Hannah gets older I am becoming aware that I should probably be teaching her this phrase for when we/she leaves someone's home. But I have a problem with it. It brings with it a sense of "I'm sorry I was a burden to you by coming to visit" - or at least in my mind. Do you agree, or is it just that as a kid I had a very poor self-image? And if you also don't like it, what do you/your kids say instead? -------------  |

Andrew always Thank you whenever he has been at someone's place. He will also say it when ever he gets given anything aswell. ------------- I was a puree feeder, forward facing, cot sleeping, pram pushing kind of Mum... and my kids survived! |

My daughter has always had to say thank you. I normally get her to me a bit more specific like, thank you for letting me play at your house...play with your toys...stay the night with xxx....stay the night at your house....stay for dinner etc. IMO it was getting her to think about what she was thankful for. ------------- http://lilypie.com">

| if we have been somewhere and kobe has been playing with other kids toys etc... then he says thanks for letting me play with your toys... or something to that effect and if someone has been babysitting him i get him to say thanks for having me or looking after me. |

yep my kids say it every time they go to friends place etc... I think its just common curtisy and I don't think it makes them feel like they have been a burden.. its alwasy replied by 'it was a pleasure' or 'they/you were no trouble'. ------------- Ann

I say it and have taught Christopher to say it as well and he doesn't need prompting anymore. We, and he, always gets the biggest compliments on how well mannered he is. It's not something you see all that often these days. ------------- http://lilypie.com">  http://lilypie.com">

Ella is very good at thanking people, I think she enjoys the compliments she gets on her good manners!

My girls always say thankyou for.... .......whenever we have been somewhere and they also say thankyou for coming to visit, play, stay etc to guest we have at home. Its really just nice to teach children manners.
