Hi everyone we had our little girl Miya Rose at 9:29 last night and have all just got home now. She weighs 8pound 1ounce. The labour went well although a little bit painful. After having strong contractions for the past few days we went and I was only two cm dilated so the midwife covering for mine did a sweep which eventually brought on stronger more regular contractions. I was in strong labour for four and a half hours and ended up needing no pain relief although Josh did have to spend most of the labour rubbing my back! Miya was born with the cord around her neck but it didn't cause any problems. I ended up with a small cut but didn't need stitches.

My Jakes a bit of a "ladies man" already! lol! he holds hands with some of the girls at coffee group already, very cute. I saw a tee shirt I am tempted to get, it has some little chickens on it, and says "chicks dig me" his father says he takes after him...(he wishes..)

i love Bella too, but it was rejected for "sounding like a name for a horse". My husband has some really strange ideas. He likes very....ummmm..don't want to offend anyone, but plain names...Sarah, Emma, Emily...etc. We have so far agreed on Lily if B2 is a girl, but i haven't brought it up again in case he changes his mind.
Weird though. I just found out my uncle Dennis isn't my uncle dennis after all. My grandfather registered him as George when he was born, but my grandmother refused to call him George as she didn't like it, and he's been Dennis ever since...I only found out cause it's on his passport.

Congrats on the new baby I agree with eveyone else what a lovely name.
My Dad did not want me to call my son after him so we went with something from Peter's side, but I was talking to Dad the other day and told him the next boy was going to be "Harrison John Baker" my dad is "Henry John Harris" Known as Harry so I thought Harrison was a good way of including my family name ( I am getting married in 4 week's so it won't look werid as I will be a Baker) hubby does not really like it, but he got to chose Alan and I did not really like that to start with (I love it now of course)so I am sticking to my gun's my next boy will be Harrison. ( we do how ever want a girl next)

Most people who read her name without hearing it first think that, Becs. We're both used to being asked how to say her name. It's no big deal. I've been asked heaps of times if her name is Maori - but there is no "y" in the Maori alphabet!

Miya's name is said my-ah. Both Josh and I liked the way the name sounded but we thought the common spelling(mya) was a bit too boring so we had a look on the internet and decided to go with the Japanese spelling instead. I just thought it looked pretty spelt that way.
Sorry it's taken me so long to reply, ajusting to juggling my two year old as well as Miya has been a bit time consuming since Miya won't sleep when Chloe does during the day.

I'd love it if you could find out what it means. I don't know anything about japanese I just went to a baby names web site and typed in the way we wanted to spell Miya and it came up saying it was japanese.

Great to see you Back Helen - can sympathise with the sleep thing - i alway shtought paris would be the one keeping me from having daytime sleeps - she's not, Ayja is the one that doesn't sleep - Paris sleeps all afternoon and Ayja decides she's tired just as Paris wakes up! Hang in there.

Everythings going well thanks, a part from the sleep thing but thats expected. I've also learnt that I need to allow almost an extra hour just to get two kids ready rather than the usual 15minutes it used to take me. I will try and put a photo on as soon as I work out how.
Aimee hows things with Hannah is she sleeping though the night yet?

I have been having problems at night with Miya because she seems to decided she just wants to be awake at night. She sleeps a lot during the day and is impossible to keep awake but she was waking up about 12am and would stay awake til 330am then sleep til 630am she's usually asleep again about 7am and sleeps almost all day.
We are now trying everything to keep her awake from 6-930pm then bathing her and putting her to bed and trying to use the controled sleeping method but I'm finding it so hard to stop myself from cuddling her. Last night she was finally asleep at 11pm then just woke up to feed at 330am then slept from 4 until 730am. it was like a dream!

what's even worse is juuuuusst getting to the beginning stage of sleep when all the nice dreamy sleep hormones have jsut been relased into your body - then hello, you're woken - and it actually feels worse than if you had just stayed awake co syou have all that sleepyness just sitting there. if that makes any sense..

yep, mum told me when i first had hannah that it's not staying awake that kills ya but never actually being able to relax.
i think the form of torture they use is letting you drift off and waking yu at irregular intervals. sounds supisciously like a newborn's sleep patterns
