Ok, so i was thinking what is an inconspicuous (sp?) way of finding out what my secret santa match likes.. So i thought id start a thread for people to say what they like doing..
i know these questions were asked for the initial questions for SS but some need to elaborate..

What do you like doing for fun?
Do you collect anything?
Whats something you want that is no more than $20 that you wouldnt buy normally?
What do you do for fun?

The point is.. i know nothing about my SS and im hoping she will come in here and give me an idea??!

Great idea! But you should answer your own questions cos your secret santa might be in the same predicament!

So for my SS just incase you are stuck....

For fun...hmm well I have just done a wine appreciation course and loved it so totally into anything to do with that, accessories etc....

Dont really collect anything but i do love black and white photos of things, like babies, animals etc.. and have a few of those around the house.

I have a thing about spending money on pampering things like face masks, nail polishes, hair stuff.... Im addicted to it. If somethings says it will make my hair shinier, defrizz etc.... my skin clearer or radiant or my cuticles disappears chances are I'll buy it...Im such a sucker!

And as I said on my questioneer, dont over think it, Im honestly the easiest person to buy for cos I love anything and everything.

Great idea, Kandice...I don't think I was very elaborate in my answers either... (oops)

A bit about me...I'm 28 (eek!), DH is 27, Bella is 3 months. We live in a really small town where theres not much to do, so in my spare time I love to bake, go out to cafes, I love reading, I'm into anything alternative (aromatherapy, reiki, crystals, spiritualism, natural therapies, etc.), spending time at home with DH and DD, love to travel (but don't do so much because we can't afford it anymore), watching romantic-comedies on TV, and catching up with family.
My favourite sort of books to read are murder-mysteries, maeve binchy, or the 'classics'.

What do you like doing for fun?
Mostly going out with friends/family for a good catch up and some good food.

Do you collect anything?
Apart from MCN's'...!!

Hope that helps a little (if my secret santa reads this...)

Great idea Kylahsmum!!

What do you like doing for fun?At the moment gardening and reading any good books, I currently learning there is a whole other world of books that aren't written by Danielle Steel or Maeve Binchy!
Do you collect anything?
I guess you could say I collect photo frames because I absolutely love putting photos everywhere.
Whats something you want that is no more than $20 that you wouldnt buy normally? Probably some nice hand cream or nail stuff for after I've been gardening, also I am completely in love with the body shop body wash range but never go there anymore. Or chocolate...any chocolate..lots of chocolate!
What do you do for fun? I know it sounds boring but I spend time with the family, travel, or take the dogs for a walk.

I have no idea for my SS either so I've got my finger crossed the person in question will fill this out too!

Collect - animals, we have 4 cats and 2 dogs, don't send another one though we have enough!!!!

Less than $20 - Suntan lotion from the health shop, i'm so pale I only need to see a picture of the sun and I burn. Bio Oil - DH has used all mine. Anything from Lush or anything that is cosmeticy but all natural.

I was thinking about this yesterday but couldn't work out how best to apply it - genius idea kylahs mummy I was one of those awful people that gave my SS virtually nothing to work with

I absolutely love quiet time with a cup of tea (sounds silly, but I love leaf teas and brewing a leaf tea and then spenidn gtime enjoying it? Bliss! ) and I love tea cups, although I haven't collected any (one of the few things I *haven't* collected! ).

I love pottery - absolutely love it, but in Auckland it's one of those things that aren't readily available. I love the older style heavy stuff ... it's lovely.

One of my indulgences is hand cream. I always have a hand cream in my bag, and it's one of my favourite treats.

I don't collect anything really, but I love French-country themed things.

For fun? My fun time is relaxing - having a cup or tea or coffee, walking my dogs at the park, having a shower and just enjoying some quiet alone time. Bizzarely, I love cleaning my house (lucky because I do it A LOT with DH around!! ) ... well, the result of cleaning anyway! I love to potter I suppose would be the best thing to say. I'm all about the pottering!

...erm ... I'll come back in if I think of anything else??

Oh and I'm Fleur I live in Feilding with Phil (DF) we are getting married in March and starting our TTC journey towards the end of next year. So really only lurk on OHB, cause this is where a lot of the NZWP ladies have gone.

What do you like doing for fun? read, bake, go for walks, hang out on OHB and NZWP. Sudoku (sp)

I also practice therapeutic and relaxation massage as a hobby/business.

Do you collect anything? sort of I collect cooking books and recipes, a new recipe to try out would be nice.

Whats something you want that is no more than $20 that you wouldnt buy normally? Anything that smells nice, I don't spend any money on skin care, shower gel stuff. We only have soap after DF cleaned out the shower.

What do you do for fun? Fill in online surveys.

Okay well I don't really need much.. our house is cluttered so I don't need any more "stuff" lol..

I'm an artsy type and starting to become more "green" so I'd appreciate anything made by you but I also understand that takes time (I often make things for others).

Other than that - something I keep forgetting to buy is a scrapbook to put my recipes I've cut out of magazines in. When I say scrapbook - I don't mean the fancy ones used for scrapbooking.. just a standard one, maybe with a nice picture on the front.

oh and I like 2nd hand things too.

and baking (Christmas coming up - cookie cutters?)
and sewing

hope these ideas help!

What do you do for fun?

I dont get much time to myself one on one as such. Cant even take a shower or bath by myself without Miss Moody deciding that is her bath and shower too. So spending time baking ect with McKayla is a lot of fun to me. I love to do baking.

Do you collect anything? Not anything as such that anyone else can get me. Except maybe photoframes at the moment. Like nice earthy type wooden ones or like nice metal with stones in it or something.

I generally actually only spent cash on the house, McKayla or hubby. (Like I am sure tons of woman do)

I am really easy to buy for. I dont mind at all what I do get. (even if my answers dont give you a clue as such.)

If you are really stuck just get some bubble bath or something. I am sure McKayla would love to steal that bath as well.

Whats something you want that is no more than $20 that you wouldnt buy normally? Ummm, that's really hard actually!!! I dont know my SS very well - but think I have a few ideas about what she might like....but for whoever has me..hope this helps (I am fairly easy to please!!)

What do you like doing for fun? I enjoy little craft projects - but dont have a really long attention span! Reading (am a glossy magazine addict), drinking nice wine, eating nice food, baking, shopping.....am pretty much a girly girl (apart from my nastyrugby habit!)  We spend quite a lot of time at the beach (as DH kite-surfs) so enjoy beachy things too...like collecting shells etc.

Do you collect anything? Frogs. NOT real ones! But I love frogs. My favourite is my greenstone one that DH bought me in Arrowtown years ago!

Whats something you want that is no more than $20 that you wouldnt buy normally? Funky summer jewellery (necklaces / bracelets - I dont wear earings!), ummmm.....this is a tricky one! Unusual cookie cutters (I am really into baking biscuits at the moment). Recipe books, more frogs....

I hope this helps whoever mine is!! I honestly dont mind though - I am a very strong advocate for "its the thought that counts" thinking!

I have already had my little helpers out and about stalking the little girl I am buying for through the threads she posts on and have found out that she has been very good this year but alas, like most she is still to come along to this thread...mind you, through reading some of her posts my helpers have already given me some good ideas

and me, well what do I do for fun....not enough these days that doesn't include the kids.
Do I collect anything...other than junk, not really

what would I not normally buy for myself.... lip gloss or hand cream (not face cleanser or face moisteriser though thanks SS, I'm a bit fussy on this one ).

I love chocolate and other yummy sweet things.
Also I emjoy reading gardening books and magazines

My major hobbies at the moment are card making and cake decorating.

I am not into candles or insents but do enjoy a nice soak in the bath, that is when I can kick the kids out

right, that should do it, I promise I have been very good this year Santa
a thank you in advance

it is a boring night isn't it busymum.
DH is watching some stupid movie on the telly and I am just wasting time on here when I should just go to bed and get some sleep before I have to get up at some silly time of the night to feed Mr boob man (DS that is not DH)
I too am struggling to keep my mouth shut. I really want to go onto the threads that my good little girl posts on and gatecrash it saying heres Santa or something simalar. But I know that if I did the magic that is Santa Claus would be lost.

I just love Santa, I still get a Santa gift each year.
I believe in Santa Claus so much that my DH said to me years ago that when we have children I am going to wonder why I am still getting santa gifts and my kids are not. ie, since I totally believe in Santa I wouldn't sort anything out for the kids thinking that the real Santa would do it!

Ok my secret santa here are some clues for you!!

I love life so everything is FUN!! Smile & the world will smile with you. For my schits & giggles I like to meditate & clear all the junky thoughts they may float through my head. Music is cool for that.

Collecting is fun i have loads of collections from coins to stamps to books & CD's. Bottles, stones, fossils, paper, pens, paint ,plants & the like. My theory is anything more than 2 items can be classed as a collection!!

I wouldnt normally buy lots of things coz im a scrooge!! what is normal? Im usual!!

What do you do for fun?
Read, hang out on a couple of different forums, go window shopping, play with my children, watching DVDs or playing cards with my husband and friends

Do you collect anything?
Not really, other than books... oh and stuff for my coffee machine! I love coffee (shame I don't drink much while I'm pregnant) and accessories like cool shakers that make shapes on the top of the drinks

Whats something you want that is no more than $20 that you wouldnt buy normally?
Ummm... not sure... I don't tend to spend much money on myself (being a wife and mum and all that)... I will say to my Secret Santa: don't buy me anything bath-related, as we don't actually have a bath! I have a sweet tooth... ummm... love Italian food... not really into "knicknacks"...

if I think of anything useful, I'll come back and edit this, okay?

I live in Wellington with my DH, We moved to NZ from Ireland 2 years ago and are currently expecting twins late Feb/March. These are our first kids.
I work in IT as a Software Engineer.
We've only been in Wellington sine July so haven't done any exploring of the city or surrounding areas due to DHs hectic weekend work and my initial tiredness/ms.

We both love scuba diving but alas I'm stuck on shore until after the bubs come.
I love the water being both above and below it.

I love cooking, and have built up a collection of cookbooks.

I'm also currently studying a relaxation massage course which I'm totally enjoying. I enjoy giving and receiving reflexology and massage treatments.

I am an extremely laid back person. I'm not big into smelly / bath stuff, I rarely wear makeup and take 10 minutes to get ready in the morning.

I am extremely easy to please! Also my favourite colours are green/orange/brown.

Hope this helps SS!!

OK, so I will put someone out of their misery and offer some more information about myself. I live in Northland, in the country, with no shops around... I am due to have my first baby in 2 weeks (DH and I are starting to get a bit nervous!)

What do you like doing for fun?
Spending time with fmaily/friends. Watching DVDs, pottering around - am thinking about teaching myself t bake a little.
Do you collect anything?
Nah not really, except books - love books - reading and collecting. Oh yeah, also like funky wooden boxes - trade aid and places like that stock them.

Man, I think I am hard to buy for, I can't even think of what I would buy me... Not really into soapy things, have a whole cupboard full of things I have never even tried. Have spent the last 8 months thinking about what changes are going to happen when this baby comes...

Just saw this thread - what a great idea. Wish mine would post though

OK SS so if you are watching....hehehe

I am Sterryn and am 32. I only have the one daughter so far and am currently a SAHM.

What do you do for fun?
I'm not sure exactly when I will ever have any time to myself again, but I like to read, watch DVD's (especially the terrible 80's girly movies!!), knit, bake and go for walks. Oh, and I love to soak in a hot bath with a good book for ages :) The more bubbles the better!!!

Do you collect anything?
Little Cows (not the real kind!):), and Dean Koontz Books. Oh and PP clothes for Sam now :)

Whats something you want that is no more than $20 that you wouldnt buy normally?

Something that is just pure indulgence. Could be in any respect keeping in mind I have a 5 mth old daughter and don't think I have had a moment to myself since she was born :) Oh, and I love chocolate but can't really eat too much of the milk/dark varieties as I am B/Feeding and it gives me a grouchy child. My first love in chocolate is milky bar though - so go ahead and go nuts in the milky bar isle.........no seriously...I dare you

I thought that I would post too in case my SS is having any problems.

What do you like doing for fun?
I like to sew, and have recently learnt to knit and like to try crafty things. I like to read, eat chocolate, be lazy and curl up in bed or on the couch and watch movies. In some ways I am still a big kid at heart.

Do you collect anything?
No I dont collect anything.

Whats something you want that is no more than $20 that you wouldnt buy normally?
Since I only seem to buy things for DS lately, almost anything would count. Chocolate is always good (dark or black forest are the best, but anything is good really) as is baking (but nothing with banana or yogurt in it as I get horribly sick), otherwise crafty things are also good. I dont know if this has actually been any further help or not

Aaaalriiiighties then.

So, I'm Serenity, I'm 19, DF is 23. Expecting a wee baby girl in Jan Excited!

OK, so in the hope I don't make things HARDER for my SS, here goes:

What do you do for fun?

**WELL! I'm a goofball, so I love anything that will give me a giggle or two. I'm a raging Drama Geek and am in an intense relationship with the Bard... That is: Shakespeare. (Somehow I don't think you could exhume Shakespeare though... Let alone for $20!) I like girly movies, shopping, getting pampered, chillin' with a book and with my man, walking along the beach... Anything relaxing - ya know how it is. Oh, my other guilty pleasure is raving... Been a while though. Can't rave with a preggy belly. I also make funky sterling silver jewellery when I get the chance.

Do you collect anything?

** Not as such - I do however have the impulse to purchase anything that's bold, bright and funky. I like alternative things that are quirky and fun - My possessions have the tendency to reflect what kind of person I am. Bold and quirky..... Oh, and to be really weird - False nails... I'm a chronic nail biter, so I love doing my nails or going and getting them done

What is something you would like for no more than $20?

** Well, as I said above... I like quirky little items. So anything fun like that would be cool. Otherwise, being a makeup artist, anything to do with cosmetics would be greatly appreciated... (For my use, not clients. Lol) My fave brand is Natio - Environmentally friendly AND easy on the pocket

Righto then! Hope that helps a bit!

Peace out

What do I do for fun?

I love to read. Chick lit, glossy mags. Eating chocolate, Cadbury old gold Jamaica is my to die for fave. I love to shop, even grovery shop!! I love music, ummmmm. pass, can't think of anything else really.

I don't collect anything but big visa bills and dust bunnies, lol. Oh, I lie, I do collect little wooden boats. But apart from that I HATE HATE HATE knicknack/ornament things (that I haven't chosen myself..)

Something I would like for $20 and under?

ummm, don't know!!!! not ornaments, anyhow, lol! will read some of the others and get back to this one.

What do you like doing for fun?
I have just started to get into crafty type stuff (making my own nappies, learning to make bead jewellery, learning to knit) but otherwise enjoy reading, watching chick flicks and playing board games
Do you collect anything?
Um other than nappies? Nope not really
Whats something you want that is no more than $20 that you wouldnt buy normally?
Bath bombs/foam, a nice black photo frame, crafty things, a movie ticket (can't remember last time I went!)

Also just to add, although I love chocolate and have the occasional slip up I am trying to lose weight so really shouldn't eat it

Thought I better stop lurking in this thread and finally post, cause you never know who is waiting for my reply

What do I do for fun? Um....I like to read, chill on the computer, browsing through OB, and am currently addicted to playing pacman. Hang out with my wee girl and I love eating yummy yummy food (I am a chef, so love all kitchen stuff, and great food - and wine)

Don't really collect anything, apart from kitchen toys - hazard of the trade.

What would I like that was under $20???....Anything but chocolate - DH works for Cadburies (not good - when trying to lose 'baby' weight!!), I love funky necklaces/earrings etc, and the usual pamper stuff like face masks, lip glosses, you get the jist - general girly stuff (although I have heaps of body butters etc so wouldn't need anything like that). umm.. photo frames, I love things that are unique, but I am easily pleased, and love getting parcels!

I am pretty boring, like to watch movies, typical girly ones like dirty dancing.
Do you collect anything?
No not really, DVD's I guess. Currently collecting Tom Cruise movies
Whats something you want that is no more than $20 that you wouldnt buy normally?
Nice shower gel like Dove or similar, a good mag like cosmo or similar. Love Chocolate and nice chocolate like Lindt which is my fav (or dove chocolate if going for the cheaper stuff, but can't get it here, oh and caramel cookie crumb double blend, mmmmm) and I love lollies. Yes I am a junk food queen! Oh and although you most likely can't find them, I want some cheap comfy slippers, size 7 if you do. Be nice to not have cold feet when feeding Jack.
