Hi everyone, I have spent hours looking through these forums, and trawling around nappy websites but still can't decide which cloth nappies to buy.
I have already bought some prefolds/covers to use for new born, then we definately want to use pockets as they seem really good. Which brand do you prefer - and approx how much per nappy? There are SO many out there, I don't want to spend a fortune when a cheaper nappy may be just as good. Also thinking about One size fits all vs S/M/L??? Thanks, Tamie |

I have two different brands of one size pocket nappy. I have 8 mummies touch and 1 bumgenius that I got the other day. I really like the bumgenius, its a great fit and although my boy is a super pee'er he lasted 3 hours with just one insert, however because they are a bit smaller fitting I couldn't fit in the 3 inserts that I have to use to get through a night. Mummies touch are much bigger and fitting 3 inserts in is easy. Both nappies are about $33 without an insert.
I would highly recommend getting honeychild microfibre inserts, they cost $7 each and you can get small and medium/large. I use the large even with my one size at the smaller setting, I just turn part of it down so he has a double thickness at the front. You will probably need a few hemp inserts too as they absorb more than microfibre but are slower than microfibre so are not ideal next to the skin, but are good to use in combination with a microfibre insert. It can be a bit of trial and error and it will probably take a few weeks for you to get a system going that will work for your little one. -------------

I have 4 different types of pockets. Pespods, swaddlebees, fuzzi buns and bumgenius. The peapods i am selling as i really dont like these, they dont fit my 9 week old daughter and probaly wont for another couple of months. The swaddlebees are ok but i wouldnt have them on her more than a couple hours. The fuzis are ok but need to stuff them heaps and they so big. The bumgenius i swear by. They fit her at 5 -6 weeks old. They last 12 hours on her. The insert is amazing. They are one size fits all. The inner doesnt go all yuk like microfleece they dry in 20 min on the line and they are so easy to put on.. i have 9 of them and im buying some more this week. They are $33 each brand new but you could get them second hand off trade me or something. ------------- ~ Mummy to a beautiful girl ~ |

But in all seriousness I sell so many to people who try a lot of the "cheaper" brands, thinking they'll save money, but in the end have found that the nappy didn't do as well as they wanted it to. As with most things, finding what nappy is best for you and baby is down to trial and error. Also, what may be good on your newborn might not be good enough for an older baby or toddler. Yeah I would also steer clear of swaddlebees, I took mine back and got a store credit cos they wouldn't even last and hour with 2 inserts jammed in them. -------------

I have Tweedle and Fuzzi's and I love them both. I prefer to use my Fuzzi's overnight as they are bigger to stuff more into. As for inserts, my boys needs to have hemp in every nappy as he is a super pee'r. ------------- I was a puree feeder, forward facing, cot sleeping, pram pushing kind of Mum... and my kids survived! |

I did what you did with the prefolds and then "tried" a few pockets.
Swaddlebees didnt work with my mega pee-er Mommy's touch confused the hell out of me 
Joel-eze worked good till he started peeing heaps, now I only use them for a max of 2 hours Honeychild is lasting 12 hours at night and still dry next to his bum in the morning. This is with 3 inserts and its huge!! I wouldnt put it on him during the day yet..he's too little. 30 day trial too Bum genius....only had one for a week now and I LOVE IT!! just ordered some more. $33 inc insert (which lasts him at least 6 hours) from mothers instinct. One thing to consider is whether you want snaps or velcro. Initially I thought snaps but they now frustrate me and I prefer velcro. My boy is a wee fella and I have been impressed that for a OSFA the bum genius is the best and easiest fit of all the nappies so well worth a trial...14 day money back. |

We have lots:
Fuzzis - have mostly sold these on as they leaked poo every time Honeychild - I got one of these to try it out and I've returned a number of times now due to faults which is very annoying. I've also had to return inserts cause they were falling apart. Tweedles - we have lots of these and like them a lot, they are a cheaper option (and I'm unbiased now as I'm no longer an agent!) Baby Harmony - these are pretty good too but find they are quite small sizing Peapods - sold these on as they were crap Monkey Doodlez AIOs - these were really cool Bubblebubs - love these, but expensive as And I've made and am starting to make tons of nappies myself and they are working extremely well for us so much so that I'm going into business

My fave is Hapy Heiny - they are velcro...
I also love swaddlebees but they arent for big wetters or overnight.. Oh and i love love love Green Acre Design pockets too, and esp their GADimals which have no PUL in them, available from mothers instinct. Also really liked my joel eze fleece pockets. The thing about pockets tho is that every child is different and what suits one may not suit another... good luck! |

I have tried quite a few different pockets and always come back to my Fuzzis as faves.
