A friend and I are going to a budget advisor course next month. Quick question - how many of you would (or have) consult a budget advisor?

I would under the proviso they weren't harsh about things, I've heard they can often give you 'rules' to live by etc that in reality don't work. But I think that's more for people who control your finances, rather than just give you advice.

i would def stay away from the ones that take over your money and dish you out some each week...a lot of beneficiaries fall for that one! and is dodgy dodgy dodgy yet a lot of them around!!!

Oh sounds interesting, we tried to put some of the moneyman suggestions into practice to help our over spending. Like the others say though be cautious of anyone trying to control your finances rather just advice

my mum is a budget adviser, and a lot of her advice is really good. oh and she does have clients that she has had to take over their finances and give them a portion of their money each week - these are the ones that are in serious trouble, and need any help they can get. it is preferable to have that then go bankrupt after all.

I guess the ultimate thing with being a BA is that you want to train up the people to be able to do it independently of "help".
