Its been a while since I've asked a silly question but I've got one now!!

How do you make up the cot? I am just starting to put Hannah in her cot because her arms get stuck between the bars on her bassinett and she gets very grumpy! I have made it like the bassinett with her at the very end of it and the sheet under the mattress then wrapping it over her (if that makes sense!). Is that the safest way of doing it?

Yes, that makes sense.

Both my kids were a little older when they went into a cot... but I did something similar. I was actually in a sleeping/eating help unit at Waikato Hospital with Kiya when she was 6 months old, and that's exactly how they taught me to tuck her in.

jake hated and still hates being tucked in. We just put the blankets over him, and replaced them as he flung them off. We ended up getting him some nice thick pjs so he doesn't get cold.

Im going in to town later this week to get sleeping bag thing, like the go go bags, but Waaaayyyy cheaper ($29 instead of $150..)cos Jake kicks his blankets off, and fights when you go to put them back on, but wakes up cold at rude hours!!

Those sleeping bag things are greeeeeeeeeeat. I had two ($30 from baby factory) for Hannah and it was brilliant when she started kicking her covers off.
Then I discovered the safe-t sleep and she definitely couldn't kick her covers off!!

Kiya HATED the safetysleep! It probably didn't help that she was 6 months old when it was introduced to her (at MotherCraft, the sleep place). I was told not to bother using it for her, as she was able to roll fine anyway, and would roll around in it no matter how well it was done up!

PAris used it up till last xmas cos otherwise she fell out of bed all the time, ayja has never used it cos she screamed everytime it was put on her.    Hey if any of you ladies want the polar fleece sleeping bags for your buggies/carseats for next winter, drop me a line - will make ya one for $25 - heaps cheaper than the ones you can buy now and keeps them really snuggly stops you loosing blankets up town. hhhm have a pic here somewhere of one, will look for it and post it. If not, will take a pic of one of the girl's new ones i have made.

With the cot thing, i was going to say to short sheet the bed, but if you are already making it up at the bottom then that's pretty much the same, so yeah, sounds all good.

I only started using a safe-t sleep for Hannah around 7 months because every time I put her down she would stand up and scream and scream and scream. Found if I tied her down then she would fall asleep within minutes rather than hours! Sometimes she rolls around in it but is strong enough that it's not going to suffocate her or anything.
She's always been a baby who likes to be wrapped so the safe-t sleep gives her more of a secure feeling around her belly.
My only problem now is that I still use it and she's one! and I travel away from home a lot so have to remove it EVERY time she needs to sleep away from home.
