I am just wondering what tests or examinations i can expect during my pregnany.

The only tests i have had so far is one scan and a blood test, should i be expecting to have any internal examinations, breast exams etc

The only tests that I had (that I can remember) was an STD screening (cause of my age ), a million blood tests! (prob worked out to be 5 or so but I felt like a pin cushion!) and the normal tests at the midwife (Pee on stick, blood pressure etc) - You can get an amino test (not sure if thats what its called) where they test the fluid around baby to see if it has any diseases... Dont quote me on the last one but they can do something like that.
When you get your ultrasounds they check for spina bifida and any other "skeletal" defects.

Hope this helps - Your midwife should tell you what to expect with tests etc until baby is born.

Oh and there is also a screening for strep B... (bloods I think)

the old pee on a stick trick! I thought it was funny reading about the girlies on here and peeing on a stick, lotsa fun when i first had my test apparently they can tell whether youve had "relations" recently too!

lol okay, i do the pee on the stick once a month (everytime i see the midwife) and i get my blood pressure done as well, the midwife doesnt send me for blood tests as i get them done every three months through my specialist (from my gastric bypass surgery).

I just remember reading somewhere that i could expect to be poked and proded everytime i went to the midwife or doctors and i really hated that idea.

oh well i wont worry i am sure my midwife will do what she feels is necessary, and as she is really happy with how my pregnancy is going im not going to rock the boat.

Ask your midwife what kinda tests you should be expecting.
In japan, they weigh you, blood pressure and peeing on the stick. Often blood tests every second month, and STD checks and stuff at the begining.

Since I've been back, my midwife sent me for a blood test. Said I could skip the diabetes test (yah!!), and I'm scheduling my scan today.

They don't usually do internals until the end to see how your cervix is doing. (Right? This is just my experience. I actually have no idea!)

The only other prodding etc that goes on is the midwife often checks out the babe's position by palpating your stomach. That can be kinda uncomfortable but not painful.

i had a few in Japan. they put you in a room, but with one wall is open so the nurses pass back and forth. then you sit with no pants on, on the chair. the chair lifts up, the stirrups separate, and you a re lying with EVERYTHING on display, to nurses and doctors walking past....then one of them will come pass and asy "relax".....

not too bad, they put a curtain over your face so it's just the bottom half "on display". I got used to it as much as I could, but usually had the giggles. I get giggly nervous...giggled all the way through wedding vows too. makes going through customs fun!
