lol, after a bit of a good idea on GandT's part, I have decided i may have a go at making some nappies. I still have fabric left from Ayja's kitty outfit (pink fluffy leopard print... and pink fur)...
Firstly, anyone know where to get patterns for them?
Secondly, who would be willing to volunteer their baby to be my guinea pig once finished... obviously since it's pink, would probably need to be a girl.. unless your boy is deeply in touch with his feminine side.. lol.

ARGHARGH, wholly shemozle.. what patterns are best - ie what do people use and which ones have people tried. lol.. the pictures confuse me - i prob need to just have a look at a nappy and figure out my own way of doing it.
Where do you get PUL from - does everyone use it or do you use something else?

http://www.greenbeans.co.nz - Greenbeans is the best place for PUL IMO..
Out of those patterns the easiest one that I've tried is that wee weka pocket (the first one)..
And I wouldn't try FOE (fold over elastic) for your first one. I ended up swearing and cursing at it lol.. lastin is much easier to use.

Hey they look neat.. ok prices too really aren't they.
Sooo, if i was to do a fancy pancylayer on the outside.. how would i do that?
hhhm i think i am going to have to steal Kryssi's naps and have a good look at them (of course cos sh'es closest, and accesable, and my girls love her to pieces lol - good excuse for a playdate too) - i haven't actually looked at one in depth to see what it's like - if i did then i'd get whet they're talking about and be able to make one. lolol..

You would have to sew the waterproof layer together with the fancy layer and then sew that combination together with fleece. If that makes sense.

It is a bit confusing until you see one in action... well, I remember it taking me a while to get my head around the whole thing! hehe
The photos in the DIY section are really good as far as following each step goes. (though I must admit I haven't got round to making one yet... just got lastin and snaps the other day)
