tell me how long it takes to drive from Christchurch to Dunedin. I am wanting to go and visit my dad and his family next year there and I was thinking would it be better to use the $35  flights to Christchurch and then drive the rest of the way or just fly straight to Dunedin?

DH says 5hrs 23min - it's 361km between the two.

You could also check it out on the AA website time/distance calculator for travel in NZ: http://www.aatravel.co.nz/main/td-calculator.php - AA website thingy

Thanks ladies. I will have a look at that website Mazzy too so thankyou for that!

I guess I was just hoping to be able to fly the cheap flights like I got to go to Auckland but with the price of petrol it would prob cost the same driving the extra way in the end

It's not a bad drive though... mostly straight roads. Just have to go over the Kilmog to get into Dunners. And it's so preeeeetty driving in. Ahhhh... fond memories.
