*sigh* After long discussions, DH and I have decided this is the best option for us at the moment because we really want to buy a house and need to save a bit more first. If I go back to work on the hours I was on before I left (32 hours), after 6 months I get some sort of lump sum (it was some scheme the DHB dreamed up to retain the nurses who were working mum's) which would really help. And while I'm working, DH can look after Bella a couple of days a week, work a few himself, and study towards finishing off his degree. Sounds complicated, I know, but it means more money for at least 6 months while we save and look for a house etc. and then once my lump sum comes through I can cut back and DH can go back to full time work...

Man, I'm going to miss this beautiful weather up here though , but there certainly is more options for buying houses and we want to get into the market before its too late. So, I think we will be moving mid-January some time (which really isn't that far away ). Agggghhhhh, I HATE moving though...don't suppose anyone knows a cheap (but reliable) moving firm who move from Nelson to CHCH...??

i would find it hard leaving nelson too! love it here. it is very hard to get into owning a home here- i was just so lucky that i purchased before the boom in 2001, we were so scared we paid too much for our house-then in 2004 it had doubled in price, we would NEVER of been able to buy one now.
christchurch is lovely though
goodluck with the rest of your moving plans and i hope you can find and buy your dream

Good luck with your new adventure , we really want to go to oz but have put our plans on hold as we have a bit of debt that we want to get rid of and I too am going back to fulltime work I have the earning power in our household which kinda sucks but you have to do what you have to do, we would really like to have our home too and living on one income just is not cutting the mustard even with the gov assist we get my dh is only on min wages which sucks even more, oh well never mind my two are a bit older now and I hopefully will be able to get into a family friendly environment.

Yeah, definitely, thats one good thing - will be able to catch up with all the CHCH Mums . Of course, I'm going to be working 4 days a week so won't have as much free time as I have now...
