I wish we had a clean washing pile! After finally getting our washing machine delivered after it went to the wrong town,....have now discovered that the pipe that takes the waste water from the washing machine is broken,...arghhh we still cant do washing!

we wash our clothes every night and then hang them on the clothes horse in front of the dehumidifier and sure enough the next evening its dry... we also have a nice big airing cupboard which we put things in overnight..

i can imagine it would be different if we had loads to catch up on.. could you possibly take them to a laundromat and catch up?

kelly- i know how you feel!!! middle of winter last year our washing machine finally gave up and died and it took ages for the new one to turn up and i had filthy wet farm clothes, towels, kids clothes just piling up. in the end i went to the other workers house and used his washing machine to do a few loads.

i always seem to have heaps and heaps of washing-towels,playcenter clother, and farm clothes/overalls.....i just dont know where it all comes from!!!

we do have a dryer that i try not to use. and i spent all day saturday hanging out and getting in washing. and yet my lounge floor has dirty clothes from here to there scattered all over it, wet towels all over the bathroom floor and non of it all seems to be mine.....

Ive been without a washing machine for a week (part of my renovating nightmare!) finally got it back in on sunday night and have done about 15 loads of washing in the last two days! Honestly we had no clothes left, I had to go and buy new underwear! luckily we had good weather the last two days and most of its dry but my couch is piled up, have to sit on the floor until i get it all folded and put away plus i still have two washing baskets full to get through and the weather has just packed in.

my mt wahsmore has migrated and now inhabits all the couch and the top of the gas heater that got moved next to the couch!

i always find that if i fold the big stuff like towels and linen and put them away then the pile never looks that bad after all.!

Why do you put your washing on your couch? Seems very odd, must be another one of those strange kiwi habits.
My dirty mt washmore is erupting out of the laundry basket in the laundry and my clean mt washmore is in neat little piles in laundry baskets. I fold as I take off the line, then they only need to get put away, I also have a phobia about ironing, I absolutely refuse to iron then put clothes in drawers only to iron again before wearing.
I think I might have to put some clothes on my couch, I feel like i'm missing out.

i only have one big washing basket and if i folded it as i took it off the line i wouldnt get half as much in it lol.
i take it off the line and pile the washing basket up high, make df carry it inside, tip it on the couch then go back and get the rest. then normally i sit down with a good dvd and fold....but i just have no motivation to do it...
i want to clean but cant be bothered

Don't you find that you have to iron it again when you take it out to wear?
I don't bother ironing till I'm gonna put it on, and DH does his own ironing. I really fricken hate it, someone needs to invent non crinkle clothing.

ironing???? whats this ironing thing you speak of??? lol. df has one shirt that requires ironing and i never do cos by the time we get to the destination the wrinkles have worked them selves out.

i do iron if its like someones wedding annv or if we went out somewhere special for tea.

Well I don't iron full stop I think I own one thing that needs to be ironed so it doesn't get worn much my mum neither ironed so I guess thats why I don't I find if you hang things up straight away they don't need to be ironed anyway. But my nana irons everything flannels etc

haha at the ironing.. I don't iron alot - but you'd think I did the size of it.

DH has work shirts that need ironing - and yes most mornings he has to iron his own (thats why I have a ironing pile as i don't do ironing LOL) then I have work clothes I have to iron as well - grrr so i might as well iron the other clothes - and FYI - if you put clothes away folded ironing - it stays wrinkle free.. unless you have a daughter like me who has wayyyyyy toooo many clothes so has to push and shove the clothes to fit into her draws so ends up crinkled anyhow lol (I don't iron alot of her clothes!)

haha adrian would get laughed at if i ironed his work clothes lol......even the cows might look at him funny if he turned up with all pretty ironed overalls lol.
i think i would go crazy if he had a town job and had clothes that required ironing all the time... and i dont work so thats easy.

OMG I love this thread! I am normal!!! Or if not then I have lots of company! Must show MIL this!

Cuppatea, yeah maybe it is some strange kiwi thing to put washing on the couch! My logic behind it is that it will be in the way and if I want to sit on the couch I'll have to fold it ... well it makes perfect sense in my head!

And yep we have a ironing pile (that's in a basket) and we only iron stuff if we need it, and I've found if I take too long in the shower in the morning DH will have not only his clothes done but mine as well - sweet

I have a washing 'couch' in the sun room - and everyone in the family calls it that.

We have a basket with ironing in it and its moved into Rhyley's wardrobe now (since we got him one)
out of sight out of mind (well spose to be)
