...eosinophilic oesophagitis??
My youngest niece, Hayley (she is 16 months old) has just been diagnosed with this. My sister rang yesterday from the hospital, where Hayley was being treated for severe diarrhoea, nappy rash (which has broken down her skin to bleeding ), and dehydration. They had suspected she may have coeliacs disease as she has been tracking off the charts for weight and height (i.e. she's VERY small) and her sister has coeliacs, so they did a gastroscopy about a month ago, and this is what they have found...I have googled it, but there doesn't seem to be too much info about it. In fact, the doctors told my sister that it is so rare that Hayley is 1 in 2 children that suffer from this in the whole Canterbury region !
Apparently it has dire food allergies attached to it and sounds like she won't be able to tolerate gluten, dairy, egss, and some fruit and vegetables.
Her oesophagus is so inflamed and ulcerated that she isn't allowed to eat for 6 weeks and has to have a naso-gastric tube to feed her some disgusting high protein/high nutrient formula, and then they will start her off on very limited solids (as advised by a dietician). My sister also has to take her to the hospital for weekly visits for the next 6 weeks.
I feel so bad for her, she has 2 other kids, and as already mentioned, one already has coeliacs; I just can't imagine how difficult this is going to be with her (plus she works 3 times a week!)
Was just curious whether anyone else has children with severe allergies like this and how do you cope??
TIA

Sorry have never heard of it, but big for your niece and sister.
It sounds terrible, I hope that they are able to control it with her diet.
