I have decided to try essentially what is a "be friendly to your bowel" diet for the next month (if I hold out that long ) and see if my other pelvic symptoms change/ease at all. One thing I will do is cut out caffeine, so that will mean telling my work colleagues. But how do I tell them? I'm on a diet doesn't exactly work cause I'm a size 12! I'm on a liver-cleansing diet, perhaps? I really don't wanna go into the fact that I have woman issues going on ROFL!

Tell them on medical advice you have been told to cut it out of your diet for a month.

teresa - even size 12 people go on a diet. all you have to say is you are trying to eat healthy - for your health. Most people do that without saying its a diet.
Mind I am a size 12 and I am trying to lose weight (biggest loser challenge at work) and I have lost 4.4kgs since it started 5 weeks ago - wooo hoooo - but this isn't about me (just wanted to mention it lol )

why tell them, just say you are cutting out caffeine if they ask... if they ask why tell them you want to see if it affects your sleep patterns...or because you want to...!

Yeah like the others say, just tell them you're doing it for personal / health reasons. I'm a size 6 and I still think about / talk about eating healthily, exercising & cutting down on coffee!

Deb I will pretty much have to say I'm cutting out caffeine cause at work we have scheduled am/pm breaks all together and the coffee is made for us all. So I've been having 2 a day where pre-work (September) I only had coffee rarely.

Ask them to make you green tea instead????? Its really good for you. I don't think it has any caffeine in it.

You could ask them to get in some decaf.

Take in some tea bags (or get them to buy them for you) if you drink tea. If not I still think you should say on medical advice as you had a dr's appointment last week.

What about herbal tea's?? I hate normal black tea but love raapberry and peppermint tea. And Raspberry tea is meant to help with Uterus during AF and Ov times.

What else do you have to do on the diet? I might give it a go as well.

And if it's bowel things, peppermint tea is supposed to be good for your digestion (and is yummy!)

Maybe I'll give herbal teas a go someday. One of the ladies in the office already has peppermint tea anyway.
For those who are interested, I got some details from a book on endo on what foods to have/avoid. It recommends this diet for 3 weeks and then slowly reintroducing them to see if symptoms are different or not:
fibre: have wheatmeal bread, not wholegrain
cereals: have rice bubbles, cornflakes, white rice, pasta but NOT muesli, porridge, brown rice
veges: have them well cooked and avoid salads, corn, baked beans, peas
fruit: cooked or tinned; avoid raw, dried, seeds and juice
fats and oils: minimise fat/butter/oil; have low-fat milk/yoghurt/cheese
other: avoid or absolute minimum of sugar, nuts, seeds, alcohol, caffeine (coke/coffee/tea)
After stressing about it for 24 hours I have decided to cut:
coffee
chocolate
porridge
watch the after-dinner snacks, especially sweet things

I did the liver cleasing plan AGES ago and I'm sure I was on that for about a month. And it did involve cutting out things like coffee, sugar, booze and fatty meats ie salami. You can always say you are on the liver cleansing plan but be prepared - I found ppl asking me heaps of questions
ETA: A word of advice - don't call it 'diet' as some ppl take it as their right to try and tempt you. A detox maybe?

I just wanted to be careful saying 'diet', I dunno none of the ladies in the office are beyond a size 16 but I'm not the biggest and I wouldn't want them to feel big.

I agree with the others say your trying to eat more healthily, some of the other ladies might want to join in too.

def try the herbal teas - esp cooled!
or say you realise nce starting work that you dont get enough water in a day and from now on your breaks will be water based...I have a bottle of cordial in the fridge at work where i can always have a dash of that with water instead of a coffee = esp later in the day
