I have been reading comments made last month by Monster and Babystuff and heard about Phil and Ted Prams.
I have just looked them up and have found a double one - where there is a second seat behind and below the "normal" seat. Could I please have someone's, who has one or knows about them, opinion of it. Thanks Spunk

The double one that you describe is actually a single buggy with a toddler seat. There are a couple of different ways you can put the toddler seat on to allow for the different needs of different aged children. There's the baby/toddler - buggy seat lying flat, toddler seat clipped on top with little hinges; or two toddlers - buggy seat sitting upright with the toddler seat clipped on the back (like you describe having seen). This flexibility is one of the things we really like. My husband also really likes how it looks (we have a charcoal/black one) because the colours and design do not look "babyish"... which also means I have to fight to be able to push it when we all go out together! We bought ours a year ago, after Xavier arrived and Josiah was 18 months old and currently use it nearly every day. Being no wider than a single buggy means it can fit through a standard doorway, and also means it can get through places a side-by-side double can't - like a checkout at the supermarket. A P&T single with doubles kit (the toddler seat) is no good for newborn twins, since they both need to lie flat and the toddler seat doesn't recline that much, but I understand it's great when they are old enough (just ask Maya, she recently got one for her gremlins) If you are worried that the child in the back/bottom seat doesn't have a good view, don't be - it can't be that bad! For balance, the heavier one is supposed to sit on top (in the buggy seat) but our boys are almost the same weight, so I've been letting the older one choose where he sits. More often than not, he chooses to sit in the toddler seat on the bottom. ------------- Becca, mum of 2 girls & 3 boys |

I've got one for the gremlins and we love it, it's so much more compact than the twin buggy I had to start with, fits in the boot better, way lighter etc. -------------  Maya Grace (28/02/03)

For the baby/toddler setup the buggy seat (the top one in the above picture) lays flat and the doubles seat (the bottom one) clicks into little hinges that go where the padded bar thingy is (over the lap of the child seated in the buggy seat).
