As all you ladies are full of wonderful ideas, help and suggestions, thought I would ask this question!

What would you put your 10 week old baby to sleep in over Christmas while camping for two weeks? I am thinking some kind of merino bag type thing or shall I just go with winter weight stretch n grows? I know it can get very cold at night when camping and don't want Lauren to catch a chill. She will be sleeping in the Mountain Buggy carry cot for the two weeks to a) save space in our car and b) I thought it would be nice and snug and keep her warm as it has padded sides.

We may seem crazy taking a new baby camping, but its the only time DH can take off for holidays as we close our business down, and we LOVE camping! Both sets of grandparents are coming with us too, just in case we need the extra help!!

Any other bright ideas to make our holiday easier??!!

TIA

We went camping with a 2yo and 7mo, and co-slept that night. It meant that temperature was regulated. I would particularly do that with a 10wo even though I'm not generally pro-co-sleeping.

I will be watching this with interest as we are going camping at the end of Jan so will have a 4 -5 week old. I can't wait and as we go with all the family, I will not be short of help either.

We went camping when DD was little and I just covered her with lots of blankets, and she wore fleecy all in ones. But I remember that I kept getting up to check that she wasn't too cold, as the air was chilly. I think we put her in bed with us to make sure that she was warm

ooh cool! dh and i are thinking about going camping over the christmas break, we think it would be fun. we will take the portacot for jordis though, and i will hang a blanket over the mesh side to keep it a bit warmer. the carry cot sounds like a great idea, i would just try to make it as cosy as you can in there for her. not sure what other people would say about this, but maybe tightly pin/tuck a blanket over the top of the carry cot, to stop the night air getting in? depends how far away laurens face would be from the top of it i guess though

BS, this camp ground has many flushing toilets, very hot showers, fridges, microwaves - you name it, it has it!

It is "camping" but the home luxuries are there "if" (or more like when) we need then!!

busymum that's a good idea if I feel she's too cold. I am not pro co-sleeping either but I have been known to put Lauren in our bed in her wedge if she's having an unsettled period at night! It works wonders, she's out like a light!

If our bubs comes healthy before the 15th Dec, we're allowed to go camping at Xmas time Already have the all clear from the mw if I have a VB and a healthy bubba! So I'll either be a beached whale or a new mummy when we go too.

Family members have taken their tiny babies for years to our camping spot (it is simply a piece of land beside a river, no nothing around) and mum reckons the only thing you need is layers really. Mum did say if you have a bubba who chucks off the blankets and hats/booties that you'll have to keep checking on her but otherwise should be fine.

I think the merino bag thing sounds a good idea, as she'll definitely need something warm underneath to stop the draught getting through as well as on top.

Have fun!
