I sent my accounts off in July to be done (we have rental property and a small/tiny business) and they still haven't been done. I emailed them months ago and they said the accounts were on a ten week turn around so would be about another 3 weeks, 5 weeks after that I emailed again and they apologised said that someone had been off sick and that they had been training (don't see as thats my problem but hey) and it shouldn't be much longer (that was on the 26th October), should I be pissed off cos I feel pissed off.
How hard is it to change accountants? and was is a reasonable amount of time to expect a tax return to be done in? They faffed us about last year, apparently they missed placed something and wrote a big apology about how they have updated their filing system etc so it wouldn't happen again.
I'm getting the distinct impression that because we are a small customer we are getting shafted.

I remember the last year we had a rental property - our accountant DOUBLED his fee for the exact same amount of work as the previous year! When I queried it the answer I got was, 'Oh, yes. We've put our fees us'. Uhhh... APPARENTLY!!
They had lost all our original information the year before by posting it to a wrong address - bank statements, receipts, insurance papers ...
Oh, and when I told them to stick it up their jumpers, they kindly didn't send on statements re payments that needed to be made to IRD, so the first I heard of it was after I changed the address and received a VERY grumpy letter from IRD saying there was money overdue!
I don't imagine that it would be too hard to change accountants though cuppatea.

Think I might ring around today and see if I can get a different one, perhaps they can even deal with getting the papers off of the current one.

Have an appointment with an accountant on Wednesday, so hopefully when I tell them how annoyed I am with the other accountant they won't jerk me around
