Well, i have officially transferred from plunket to Tamariki Ora Maori well child providers and i am really happy that i have done so. I met the nurse and the kaiwhakapua wai today and i really like them, they are really nice and we talked about loads of stuff and IMO they are WAY better than plunket by a VERY long shot!

Im stoked! Finally kylah will get the appointments shes supposed too.. they rand me on tuesday and i got an appointment today so quick!

I hope you get good service but I think highly of plunket. I htink there are not enough plunket nurses.the government should address this and the plunket nurses there are have big caseloads

LOL Kels!!

I love my plunket service. We still get all our visits at home and our plunket nurse is fab. We even get extra visits on top of the ones listed in the book. Our nurse is the same one I had with Christopher (10 years ago) and is just really practical in her advice.

I could take or leave my plunket experience. We are in and out in 5min...basically he is just weighed and measured....we seriously get longer at the GPs!!!

I miss my MW!!!!

Yah, glad to hear that you have found a good well child provider. I was so shocked at how you were treated by Plunket (not to mention your mw!).

I have to say my experience with Plunket so far has been really good. The only not-so-good thing was the very first visit was by a trainee plunket nurse and she came across as nervous and seemed to be reading everything she told me. Ah well everyone has to start somewhere I guess and as I said my experience has been nothing but great since.

Still thinking highly of plunket here BUT I guess its the plunket nurse you have that can make all the difference. The plunket nurse who I replaced had been a plunket nurse since 1962...Now I wasnt even thought of then SO the new mums I see are glad to have a fresh face but in saying that she had a wealth of experience from over the years and I could def learn a thing or two off her.

I've had good and not-so-good experiences (altho in hindsight maybe the suggestion one of them made to make Willie get a vasectomy wasn't such a bad idea ) but for the most part we love Plunket. Family centre were AWESOME when the gremlins were tiny, and our PLunket nurse is great.

But I'm glad you are finding the Tamariki Ora service good Kandice, my old GP was a Tamariki Ora provider and they were brilliant.

I can say I have had very good experiences with Plunket and can honestly say that i think they saved me from an acute admission to hospital with PND, so I can't speak highly enough of both my Plunket nurse and the family centre, but having said that I think it does come down to personalities as my lovely Plunket nurse has just moved back to Taranaki and I am not so hot on her replacement. So I would like to say that I think you have been very unlucky Kandice and glad you have found the service you need with Tamariki Ora
