i needed HEAPS! when i first started out! (although it didnt help that i was using a brand that wernt absorbant enough for my high leakages!! until i foound one that worked! ) i had 10 pairs! because i would pretty much have to change with every feed (leaking hard nutt! while feeding!) but now that things have calmed down i have 5 pairs that i use and when i run out (if they are all in the wash) i fold up a hemp insert and shove it in my bra! lol if im at home of course!

I would personally get a couple from a couple of different places to see which ones are best for you (just like Cloth nappies)

Once you have found some that you like and are absorbent enough, invest in about 8 pairs (4 in wash, 4 out of wash, washing every day)

Also be aware that some fabrics take a few washes to reach their maximum absorbency e.g. hemp, wool, bamboo. I use Microfribre in mine as that is a high absorbency material straight away.

Hope this helps!

http://www.breastmates.co.nz - Breastmates also does cloth breast pads

I also have leaky boobies, and I always leak on the opposite side to feeding (even at four months nearly) so boobie pads are mega important for me.

I would recommend wool pads, I think you can get them from breastmates and from the baby factory. These are really absorbent as long as you don't mind wool against your skin. I don't find them itchy at all.

As I use cloth nappies, I have only 6 pairs and I just throw them in with the nappies each day.

I still can't believe the cost of disposable ones, and from memory with my second they stick to your breasts once wet, go reusable I say.

I was spending about $15 per week on breast pads when I was using disposables!!! I used them for months and months and months as I was a big leaker. Wish I'd known about washable ones then. Finally found some tommy tipee ones when Han was about 6 months and they were sort of alright at the time but definitely wouldn't have coped with the milk pyrotechnics of the early days.

Ewww disposables were yucky! The gel feels gross when its all wet with milk and goes all sticky

Tweedle use PU Nylon from memory. Mine are PUL backed since PUL works better

I had the Tweedle ones - used them from 4 months onwards they were good as I wasn't leaking that bad.
